  • einundreissignull

  • wait for the London Olympics. Tyson Gay will beat Bolt again. he'll beat Bolt's protege Blake too

  • i bet you the black guy with the big hair could have won if he shaved his head all that hair weighed him down i bet the hair weighs like 2 pounds... seriously

  • Gay is gay

  • USAIN BOLT IS BETTER then GAY

  • For those who don't speak German, @ 0:43, the guy says "31.0! (ein und dreissig null) - which is the split for Tyson Gay going through the yellow checkers (not necessarily 300m, or accurate)

  • wtf ? i run track at my high school any body on my team could have won that ! im so serious

  • @quakj Yeah, thats bullshit.

  • @quakj so everybody on your high school track team is a world class sprinter? you're fucking bullshitting moron.

  • only human ever to run sub 10 in the 100, sub 20 in the 200 and sub 45 in the 400m. one of the greatest and most versatile sprinters ever.

  • @goldygordy4 good call.

  • Tyson gay is slow :d

  • 400 m is hard as fuck i have done it

  • @koolboy276 Especially the last 100 meters.

  • @karil451 yes that when ur legs start to telling to stop

  • uhmmm 44.89 miles per gallon? Wut?

  • LOL you can tell he's not used to going this slow because of how his arms are and how he's running. At 0:27 he also scratches his head lol

  • That seems really fast for a 100m runner. I wonder how fast Carl Lewis could have run a 400m?

  • @TheCombativeMarine Stop kissing his ass, he was not jogging. Look at his post race interview and tell me he was that tired after a 'jog'?

Still I believe Bolt could have done much better off course, had he had proper training :)

  • @Thoragz Bolt doesn't enjoy running the 400m Dash he admitted it on National TV. Runners are very mental with events. Bolt's hatred of the 400m could have a big impact on his final results. Watching the Video it did seem like he had a bigger kid at the end that he didn't generate.. Listen to yourself.. Any athlete even Michael Johnson or even Warner would be winded After running a 45 400m dash despite their best time being 43.. Thats a 22.5 sec pace 200m done twice.. Bolts faster than that...

  • @papano12 michael johnsons 200 best is 19.6. jeremy wariners is 20.0. there just straight up better.

  • @optimistSADER Sorry man, you are dead wrong

  • i feel like i have to say pause every time i say tyson gay's name

  • that was GAY at his best!!

  • @bitethis47 That was a GAY comment... If you realized he just ran a 400m in 44 seconds and look at the fact he does not train specifically for the 400m, maybe you'll see your ignorance.

Damn this is very impressive! Would be interesting to see a Usain vs. Tyson 400m race!

  • @tr4ckst4r my comment about was about GAY indeed!

  • 44.89 and he didn't even win, SHIT.

  • Really nice time for a 100 and 200m specialist

  • @TVathletic : especially considering his lane had PUDDLES! LOL

  • this isn't even his event and he STILL is a fuckin dog!

  • he is legend...see in 2012

  • i know you can't say tyson isn't incredible because that is some achievement. but however i believe if bolt did train properly for the 400 with his ability he should be able to run at least a 44, because i don't believe that he has done so already.

  • @ChRiSsPiNkS13 Its not because Bolt is faster in the 200m and the 100m that he should also be faster in the 400m. The 400m is much more cruel than a 100m or a 200m. You actually burn and get fatigued in a 400m race. The reason as to why Gay has produced better in the 400m is because he has worked to acquire a better stamina than Bolt has. When Bolts coach asked him to first run the 400m Bolt said he didn't want too... So its a question of is Bolt even giving 100% while running the 400m. Doubt it

  • @papano12 I know what a 400m race is like. And Bolt has the key component to be a 400m runner - speed. I run 800 and I have much greater stamina that Bolt but because I lack speed I wouldn't even see him finish a 400 if I ran against him, even if he didn't try. Of course he would not want to do a 400 whilst training for the 100 and 200 that would be pointless. All I'm saying is that if Bolt did train for the 400; he would get under 44. I'm not saying he would break a world record or anything!

  • @ChRiSsPiNkS13 WITH training bolts pb is 45.6. he used to run the event. gay ran this, after surgery on his hip, because the doctor told him he wasn't aloud to do any pure power. so he season opened with this.

  • @optimistSADER sorry but bolt's pb is actually 45.28, which he did in 2007 at the same time his 200 pb was about 19.7/8 and his 100 pb was not even sub 10 seconds. He is now a far superior athlete and I think if he trained for the 400 again properly I'm pretty sure he could knock a few tenths of a second off

  • @ChRiSsPiNkS13 i think he could go sub 43 if he trained for it.

  • @rcaddict72 I don't see why not, he's surprised us enough so far! I'm looking forward to Bolt v Blake in the 200m, sub 19 in the Olympic final?

  • bold has run sub 44 in case you guys do not know

  • @Shonny02 ... bolts fastest time is 45.28. What are you talking about

  • @blacksoilder10 Bolt has clocked a sub 44 in a relay but that doesnt really count.

  • @Shonny02 : no he hasn't! which race? give us a DATE when he did it or quit lying!!

  • @Shonny02 : Bolt hasn't even run a sub 45!! anchoring a relay doesn't count. only STOPPING STARTS count.

  • @Shonny02 prove it

  • my favourite athlete alongside wariner

  • good run

  • MANS GOT TALENT IN ALL DA SPRINT DISTANCES!

  • 44.89 is insanely fast even for a 400 m specialist. Top 100 is low 46

  • tht was a sub 45??..-_-..neva loooked like one....HOWEVER VERY GOOD RACE,,..GOTTA respect this dude..very good athlete

  • i swear he lost

  • where is the time?

  • he tripped up at finish line because he wanted to win if he just went all the way through he would of gotten a better time but a 44 sec 400m is insane

  • you can see he visibly slows after the first 200m and then at the end - if he trained for this distance, i'm sure he could do a lot better

  • "the first time i became aware of usain bolt was when he ran a 45 second 400m at aged 15" - quote from michael johnson.

  • the guy he passed on the first bend is the world 400m bronze medalist

  • As a former 200/400 specialist, I can tell you, that was a BRILLIANT run. Great work, Tyson!

  • Jeez, what DOESN'T this man do??!?? :D

  • Tyson Gay is the beast, you know if he trains for only 100m and 200m, to run sub 45 seconds 400m is fantastic for him for a short distance runner!!!

  • thats insane and ive been following tyson gay for a while now and ive noticed he never has much kick at the end of a race. Every race ive watched someone comes close or beats him and catches up, he needs more of a kick at the end...possibly some chicken? lol

  • @emptysoul189 What are you talkin about? Gay has the second fastest top-end speed ever recorded after Bolt. He's always been a strong finisher. Not so much 200m, but definitely 100m.

  • @phastman1994 lol u dont think i know that? ive been following him for a while and no he doesnt finish well on a "400m" yea sure a 100m but this is a fucking 400m, called constructive criticism u dumb fuck lol

  • @emptysoul189 You said "Every race ive watched someone comes close or beats him and catches up" how the fuck was I suppose to know you were only talking about 400m? Especially considering Gay isn't even a 400m specialist. Gay isn't expected to have a finish like your average sub 45/44s 400m sprinter, being a 100m/200m specialist he relies more on pure speed than speed endurance.

  • omg

  • @max0077 wat are u talkin about... do u even know

  • POOR old Tyson he really wants to be an olympic Gold medalist but Usain s jut too good for him so he is trying his hand at every other event

  • @Max0077 stfu

  • @Max0077 he is the second fastest runner in the world so shut up

  • WOW!!

  • I wonder what Tyson's 300m split was in this race

  • @phaethon1988 Sitting here hand timing this race with my stopwatch (yes I am such a geek lol) I get 44.6 hand-time (44.74 electronic for 400m (add 0.14) partly obscured by inability to really see exactly when Tyson crosses the finish line....I get 32.2 for him @ 300m, so it's probably 32.4 electronic if that helps :-)

  • @topv8 Texas Relays takes place on april 6-9. I do not know if they wil be televised or not....

  • Tyson Gay will be running the 4x400 meters at Texas Relays along with Jeremy Wariner.

  • @bravebirdman really?????????

  • @CABabc12345 Yep, it will be really exciting to see how they do.

  • Tyson Gay is badass. A sub 45 in the 400???!! damn!!

  • @iayyam If i ran a sub 45 I would literally have to die I would be so tired.. just running a 55 is tiring as hell a 50 is exhausting and have yet to break 50...must be a gut wrenching experience

  • einunddreißig null

  • lol smith gay

  • i bet he can ....why must ppl doubt ?? i dont understand...ANYTHING is possoble...im sure he only ran da quarter to get stronger for his 200 , soo with that being said.....he ran a sub 45 which i kno sum guys struggle to do that n they train for the 400 ...u cant fault him for running sub 45.....i think he did a great job and if he did it once i believe that he can do it again ...i am a die hard Ty fan ..... he's so incredible to me ...#StopHatin UGH

  • I bet he wont do that race again!

  • Can't dis Tyson for only running 44.89...after all he is either the only man to run sub-10 in 100m, sub-20 in 200m and now sub-45 in 400m

Bolt hasn't done it, neither has M. Johnson, or anyone else.

  • @DeGO6 lol xavier carter has done it first

  • @fightjunge24

nooope. xavier carter only went 10.0....he never actually went BELOW 10.0

    LOL HAHAHAHahahaha smarty pants

  • @DeGO6 he went 9.995 wich was roundet up so he did it

  • @MrBusunglueck

    touche` my friend touche`

still, 9.69 is far more impressive

  • @DeGO6 i think tyson gay will be the best ever

  • @DeGO6 Bolt could do it if he wanted to

  • @iAMspudeee

I suppose, but Bolt has ran the 400m in the past year or so, but he came out with a 45.92

  • @DeGO6 wtf ur talking about? bolt hv 9.58 and 19.19 also 45 and michael j. hv 19.32 and 43.18, tyson is good, but why would u say that?

  • @xXxThOmMyEbXxX what he's saying tyson gay is the only man to go under (sub) 10sec, 20sec, and 45 sec in history. bolt 9.58, 19.19 BUT 45 in the 400. johnson 10.09, 19.32, and 43.18 had he went under 10 he would be the first. had bolt gone under 45 he would be the first. but tyson went 9.69, 19.58, and 44.89. only man right now... that has done it

  • @DeGO6 Ever heard of Xavier carter? 10:00, 19:63, 44:53

  • @Zetzoh Xavier Carter didn't go sub-10 though, he ran 10 flat

  • @speedyslime93 It was 9.999 or something like that and it was rounded up. bogus cuz TECHNICALLY that is sub 10.0

  • @DeGO6 Yeah I get you, I think they even round it up when it's 9.991... I think if you run say 9.571 it should be 9.57, but if you run 9.572 it should be 9.58. IMO.

  • @DeGO6 bolt has tho haha 9.58, 19.19, and 44.74 when he was timed :L so unlucky :)

  • @danielp0527 Lol show me proof of that 400m? Everywhere I look it states his pr is 45.28. Not saying he can't run a 44 though (which I know he could); I'm just saying you should stop being a fanboy and give Tyson gay respect when due.

  • @tr4ckst4r got an even better 43.58

  • @danielp0527 You're referring to relay splits! I have a teammate that "split" a 43 at mt sac relays, but his best in the open was still 45! Never use splits to back up an argument about legit 400m times!

  • @danielp0527

He hasn't ran sub 45 ya fuck

  • @DeGO6 Um bolt actually ran a 43.7 or .8 on the 400, granted it was in the 4x400 relay but thats still under the 45 sec mark in the open 400

  • @TheGoose45

just shut the fuck up...it's not the open 400m dash so it doesn't count.

  • @DeGO6 well bolt ran a 43 in a 4x400

  • @killerxela A 43 in a 4X400 is equivalent to about a high 44 or 45 because its a running 400 not a straight 400 from a stopped postition. the stats ove sub -10 sub - 20 sub -45 of Tyson Gay is quite amazing.

  • @killerxela not my conversation but that doesnt matter. i know a high schooler that ran a 44.8 split but never even ran a 45 open. all that to say splits don't matter

  • @DeGO6

you are wrong, there are alot of athletes that can do that , but they just don't want , for example...Xavier Carter 100 Metres 10.00

    200 Metres 19.63

    300 Metres 31.93

    400 Metres 44.53

  • @MrJustNeca good point. tyson gay jus happens to be a bit better. xavier carter was originally a 400m beast anyway (florida high school record holder in the 400)

  • @DeGO6 i said 43 dumbass

  • @DeGO6 but, i would rather be the best at 100 and 200 as opposed to 2nd best at 100 and 200 and not ranked for 400...

  • @DeGO6 It's coming from Bolt, but later on. He ran 45x as a teenager when he actually trained the event. Tyson is a beast though. M Johnson so close on the 100m, i thought he ran near 10 flat

  • @DeGO6actually isn't it sub 44

  • @DeGO6 bolt could if he wanted

  • i love how everyone here debates on what Tyson Gay is capable of running. Before this ppl said he couldnt go under 46, then he did...get outta the mentality that you all know so much about track and field and realize that any olympic sprinter (with training) is capable of running 45s or 46s now add tyson gays sprint caliber and his hard work im sure the man can do alot more than you all are giving him credit for. Now he is a 100 and 200m guy so dont fantasize about seeing anymore of this.

  • Haha he wipes his face just before the 200m bend. If gay trained for the 400m he would run much faster, I don't know why everyone is hating in the comments. This was probably just a fun race to mix things up. He is a 100m and 200m specialist! Come on people.

  • @snizshizzle gay should train for the 4oom fa real because he was way to relax on the back stretch which means if he train he probably cud go a 43.90

  • @bossanimal1 44.89 is very impressive, especially for a 100m/200m specialist but I doubt Gay can go sub 44, I think with training he can go around 44.4.

  • @phastman1994 he'll go faster than 44.4...but your right he wont break 44. Probably 44.1

  • @veras87 I'm still thinkin no lower than 44.4 for Gay and thats only if he trains for it. But we'll see what happens..

  • I also think Gay let up at 350... or maybe tired...

  • Thats Truly Impressive!!

  • Yea but the piont is that people have gone under 44 seconds, and the world record is 43.18, it's like saying that people have gone under the magical 20.5 barrier in the 200m. All that it does is mean that more people have done it.

  • @keanoking17 It's not so much a barrier as it is a "marker." A sub-4 mile is a marker. Yes, the WR is 3:43, but still, if you dip under 4 mins, that is a mark of legitimacy. 10s is a marker for 100m, 20s is a marker for the 200m, 45s is a marker for 400m. In high school, 50s is a 400m marker, 23s is a 200m marker, 11s is a 100m marker, and so on. It's just how it is.

  • @jlipin3 i can understand those 'markers' but the point is that it isn't a high school marker or anything, it's the marker for the best athletes in the world, and the best have gone under 44 seconds.

  • 400 is hell, worse than the 10k, after 400 meters I wanna puke real bad

  • @crusher1427 u aint alone

  • 'kkacanek' i don't understand why people say that the main barrier for the 400m is the 45 seconds, when guys have gone under 44 seconds.

  • @keanoking17 cuz under 45 sec is already a world class standard. u can basically go to olympics if are consistent

  • @kopk888 thats like saying the magical 20.3 barrier in the 200m, because people who run that are world class, and you can get to a final running that time at a major championships. Besides that isn't the point, the point is people have run under 44 seconds, it doesn't matter how many, the point is that people have done it and the world record it under it.

  • @keanoking17 it's cause only 9 athletes EVER have gone under 44 seconds. and only two since 2000.

  • @kkacanek but just because only a few men have reached that standard shouldn't mean that the barrier shoud be lowered. All it does is allow more pople to do it.

  • @keanoking17 well, a lot more men have gone sub 10s in the 100m, but that is still viewed as a prestigious threshold. Just like sub 11s in the 100m is a high school threshold. It's just the because:

    a) VERY few people have/can made/make them, and

    b) It's a nice even cut off. 10, 20, 45

  • @kkacanek the 10 second barrier and the 20 second barrier i can understand, but 45 isn't particularly more convenient than 44 seconds. So i still can't find a logical explanation.

  • @keanoking17 Personally I would say it's for a nice even 5 or 10. I just like things in general to be at the closest 5, i.e. 5, 10, 15, 25, 40, 55, 100, etc... rather than 13, 17, 43, 58, etc....

  • @kkacanek i guess, but surely a marker for a high standard it would be closer to 44 seconds, in every major championships 400m final in the past few decades the winning time has been either under 43 seconds or close to 44.0. So to me running 44.98 isn't a particularly big deal, as a pose to running under 44 seconds or close to 44 seconds.

  • @keanoking17 Yeah, I know, but it is quite an accomplishment for a 100 200 specialist. Gay hasn't really run the 400, and hes just the first person to go under all the times. So, barrier or not, h's still the only man to ever do it. That's really the gist of it

  • @kkacanek i agree it is a brilliant accomplishment.

  • @keanoking17 How the fuck can you say that 44.98 isn't a big deal? How many athets ran sub 45 in bejing? I'm guessing you are not into track cuz you have no clue even what is sub 50 run

  • @ziga112 i am a track athlete btw, so don't try to act like you know me. What i said was (in case you can't read) in relation to running under 44 seconds it isn't a particularly big deal. And i still believe that because the wr is 43.18 which puts 44.98 to shame. And in case you also didn't know three athletes ran under 45 seconds in beijing, one of which ran under 44 seconds. I probably know more about track and field than you do mate so don't start insulting me.

  • @keanoking17 no one has ever run under 43 in the open 400m. In fact only nine men have gone under 44.0 seconds.

  • @veras87 which is exactly why i fell it is a large accomplishment, and should be known as 'the barrier' because so few people have done it, but it has still been done.

  • That guy from Bahamas is pretty good too. He usually run very easy the first 200 and sprint the last 200. In this race it looks as if he took off at the 300 meter mark and paid for it lmao. He should've ran his race.

  • @90EMC bahamas? you mean trinidad..

  • @90EMC That guy is Renny Quow from Trinidad, he is not from the Bahamas. But I agree with your comment, he almost died at the finish line.

  • would it be safe to say that this makes gay the most well rounded sprinter in track and field? (amongst bolt, powell, and gay, gay is the only one to run under 45 in the 400)

  • @jivetome Gay's actually the first person to break the "three barriers" - sub 10s 100m, sub 20s 200m, and sub 45s 400

  • @kkacanek Next is the sub-4 mile.

  • @jlipin3 hahahaha! yes!

  • Did they die out on the last 40 meters?!

  • @Marzzzzella Yes, ever run it? You die at those last few meters.

  • @AlucardZero Actually my highschool doesn't do 400m.. but since they run Olympian times I thought they wouldn't die too soon.

  • @Marzzzzella Well it depends on your pacing, if you go too fast out first you'll look more dead at the end than an even pace.

  • Sorry, who is Smith? If he can run 44mids- surely he should be a renowned world 400m athlete?

  • @phsyxx Calvin Smith from Florida, son of former 100m WR holder Calvin smith Sr

  • @phsyxx have you seen the talent that the americans have at the 400 metres, he's probably ranked outside the top 8 in america

  • @idontsignin

Oh sorry, I'm from UK, so seeing someone run inside 45 is pretty rare, lol :S

And yeah, I can imagine, Jeremy Wariner, BerShawn Jackson, Kerron Clement, whoever else, can run fast 400s even if lots of them don't necessarily do the flat.

  • @phsyxx i wish he could get a british passport and come run for us.loll

  • @idontsignin lol, better than dwain chambers

  • @phsyxx kerron clement actually has the world indoor record in the 400

  • @injendc4

Yes, as I said - he can run a fast flat 400m even though he does hurdles and specializes in that event.

  • Comment removed

  • @kmb9624 lol why would usain ever do long jump that just wouldn't work

  • Comment removed

  • @kmb9624

okay first of all speed is not directly proportional to distance, all it means is that theoretically he would get further through the air in a shorter period of time. Evidence - carl lewis was faster than mike powell, so how come powell jumped further?

  • @kmb9624

you got to be able to block your forwards momentum on that last step and turn it into upwards momentum, the amount of explosive power required to block that much momentum (bolt is a massive guy by most standards, combined with his speed his momentum would be ridiculous) would be massive. yes bolt is a freak, but sprinters who can also long jump are also freaks, that's why only a few have ever been successful at both events.

  • @kmb9624 a huge gay fan hmm?

  • Comment removed

  • apparently no one saw Bolts sub 44 relay split for the 4*400M

  • @islandboy915 that doesn't count, it's not even an open 400m... naturally your splits are going to be faster than your open 400m

  • wow so doesn't this make tyson the only sprinter with sub 10, sub 20, and sub 45 times in all sprint events?
