  • oi au yo eu io!! there i speak japanese now :)

  • Japanese culture is amazing and fascinating on a tourist's point of view. When you try to live with it, then the impression changes.

  • Ugh this is confusing I don't get it! Someone help me!

  • this is to easy..but the one whe should learn also..what is the japanese words for everything,, so we can know eat and make our own sentence

  • thank you for the video ! <3

  • Some people want to learn Japanese because of anime, some because they just LOVE the language. My case is the latter. Everyone is entitled to his or her own inspiration for learning Japanese. I don't see what the problem is with people wanting to learn Japanese because of anime, as long as they respect the language. Some act like they know Japanese big time cause they can say "Kawaii!" and "Konnichiwa!". I think that's annoying though. But that's just me I guess!

  • monster hunter inspired me to learn japanese

  • Very nice, thank you.

  • He has a sexy voice :D

  • I was inspired to learn hiragana because I wanted to read Dragon Ball comics when I was a kid. The comics always came out before the TV episodes!!!!

  • I want to learn another language. Not my language because I have a feeling of longing when I hear the words

  • not only is the culture great! but I want to learn new things and languages is one of them :D then on to German after a while haha >:D

  • lol why is people talkin bout anime in here?....i came to learn some good decent stuff and i see anime on the comments WTF

  • am i going to continue this?it lokks complicated ^^ hanggul is easier to learn, i think. ^^

  • i've been interested in japan since i was a little girl. the reason? my mother had a japanese car (not going to say which one) I found it very fascinating that the car had been produced in japan and then shipped to belgium... when i was 4 years old i only knew that japan was a country far far away at the end of the world

  • i've always been interested in japanese language and culture and i like anime too, but i ended taking french which i'm great at and love too. i wana do both but i can't, i just hope i'll be able to do it some time in the future, maybe college.

  • Yup I'm learning because of anime

  • geez ! whats wrong when you only want to learn Japanese because of anime?

    i'm a lil offended .. i'm an BiG OTAKU .. :)

  • @genelynjoy otaku isn't a good thing to be associated with :/

  • whats wrong with wanting to learn japanese for anime? in my opinion, it adds to your enjoyment of the anime when you can understand the terms and expressions in the way they're meant to be understood, not by reading stupid subs or worse dubbed versions where they completely change the original meaning. But naturally, if find anime enjoyable chances are you'de be interested in t he culture too so why seperate the two?

  • I have a question: do some words ( like love,respect,...) have 2 differents sorts of notation? because the signs, on some sites, are different

  • don't tell the japanese that you want to learn their language because of anime, video games and manga coz they will feel insulted.

    Japan, ganbatte kudasai.

  • I can read and write the hiragana one already, but not the katakana.. I was having so much fun in learning this language, even though sometimes, i still have difficulty in memorizing it.. I think Japanese people also having a hard time in learning our language..

  • it's easier than i thought :)

  • for the love of anime.......i'll be doing this!

  • 2 questions not related to this particular lesson:

    1) I noticed that in some words containing hiragana "shi" "i" seems to be soundless and pronounced as "sh". The same goes for hiragana "u" - in words like "arigatou" the "u" sound is either silent or not pronounced at all. Is there any rule as to when "shi" and "u" are pronounced normally and when their pronunciation is modified?

    2) How should "shi" followed by small "ya" be pronounced? Some sources say "sha", other say "sya".

  • @pilarp23 sya and sha are the same only another transcription, it is like the sha in english only with a short vowel

  • @pilarp23 sya and sha are the same only another transcription, it is like the sha in english only with a short vowel

The silent u or i have something to do with the following consonant e.g. k : suki

I think hard consonants make u or i silent

  • I'm not inspired to learn Japanese because of anime. I'm inspired to learn Japanese because it looks awesome, it sounds awesome, it's the language of the second biggest economy in the world, and because learning a new language as different from English as this is awesome.

  • @YT60017 China is now the second largest economy.

  • Why are people only inspired to learn Japanese because of anime? I rarley watch anime, mainly only bleach, but that's not the reason I wanted to learn Japanese. I wanted to learn because I find the culture and language are beautiful and fascinating.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 From what I have seen, anime inspires people to learn japanese cause whoever is in charge of the translation on "Imported" anime does a very bad job and there are many that are not translated yet so you have to Pirate them or find sites which broad cast and it alot to learn the language than have to constantly read subtitles. what does it matter what inspires some to learn a second + language, that fact that they have the patience and motivation to do it in itself is amazing.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 I have to learn because my girlfriend's in to it.... Your reason wins.

  • @ChainManProductions tell her to learn english

  • @Zer0Sum1111 I feel the same way. I only used to really watch Naruto and others that friends suggested. Even then I only used to watch like 1-2 episodes of anime a week.

But I gave up anime all together to further prove to myself that it wasn't the reason that I began to learn Japanese.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 so what if that is the reason why people want to learn japanese? you make it sound like it's a bad thing. =P i love anime and watch a lot of series, but the reason why i want to learn is also yours. i love japanese culture and that's one of the reasons i've been training karate for more than 12 years...

  • @Zer0Sum1111 well im inspired by the culture, but i think anime would be a great practice for listening and speaking :P

  • @Zer0Sum1111 i wanted to learn because english anime is too censored and the subs arent subbed correctly and i want to actualy watch the anime not read it and miss whats going on. i also plan on learning more about the culture. i dont do it for bleach..i do it for naruto ;D

  • @Zer0Sum1111

haha, I'm with you there. I basically love their culture and the way society works. Japan is one of my ideal countries.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 ...I agree with you that the japanese culture and language are beautiful and fascinating but, If people only want to learn japanese because of anime, there's no problem with that. Don't you think ? (^.^)

  • @Zer0Sum1111 what about both?

  • @Zer0Sum1111 anime does happen to be a part of japanese culture u kno :/

  • @Zer0Sum1111 never watched anime in my life

  • @Zer0Sum1111 nah i just want to learn for the f**k of it

  • @Zer0Sum1111 Kaiketsu Zorori - Nuff said.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 the language itself convince me to learn them, it's a beautiful language indeed.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 i blame Akira Kurosawa and the game company KOEI for my Japanese passion :)

  • @Zer0Sum1111

I want to learn japanese in order to win a scholarship to study on a japanese university. It's really expensive to live there so I can only get to study in there with the schoolarship and, I've got only 10 months to begin to grasp the japanese language and be able to get the scholarship.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 i could give less of a fuck about anime im learning japanese so that when i listen to japanese songs i can know what the hell they`re saying.

  • @Zer0Sum1111

If people want to learn something, every reason is good.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 I do watch a ton of Anime and read Manga, but that's not the reason I want to learn Japanese. Anime and Manga actually introduced me into the world of Japanese culture and i'm completely fascinated by it. I want to live in Japan someday, and I love the language. I just think it's a good thing to know more than one language in your lifetime. Haha, I'm happy to be learning!

  • @Zer0Sum1111 im only inspired because im going to japan to live there im going to harajuku

  • @Zer0Sum1111 is bleach even an anime? or a decent show with less than 330 episodes for that matter?

  • @FMAiscool bleach is crap, essentially. it might be ok for starters and mildly entertaining if you're below the age of... 20? it's to really good shows like twilight is to shakespeare

  • @Diosukekun couldn't be said better

  • @Zer0Sum1111 The first time I was introduced to Japanese culture was when I first started watching anime and read manga. Now I want to learn Japanese because I love the culture and the traditions, and because when I grow up I want to become a mangaka, therefore I want to go to Japan to study and I need to know the language for that. Not all people are inspired by anime, but it's not a bad thing if you think about it.

  • @Zer0Sum1111 well i first became interested in anime, then drawing anime, then finally the language. I don't know much about Japanese culture itself, but its nice we're all learning the language, right? Whether the reason may be noble or not, we all are learning about this great language and culture! :)

  • @Zer0Sum1111 Why do you think so much about it, why other want to learn it? I want to learn before I saw the first Anime or read the first Manga. But until I know that I have the patience to learn it. Like English. My mother language is German. :D

  • Watashi wa Keitorin to iimasu (romaji)

(Keitorin: Mostly in English Terms Kathleen/Katelyn by the way, I'm a Filipino so I don't get much accent from Japanese; but I'll Try)

Note: My complete name is not Kathleen alone it's Kathleen Mae (キャスリーンメイ).

  • EEEEEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • @robertsonator

  • Thanks for uploading

  • i learned a little jap. from subbed anime and I just wanted to really buckle down and learn it so thanks dude!!!!!

  • For someone with a terrible short term memory, these lessons seem to be the only thing so far making any progreas in my learning to read in japanese.

Watashi wa kansha shite imasu. :]]

  • It's taken me about 1 week to memorize 10 hiragana. I don't get how some people memorize all 46 in a day like they say they do.. :l

  • I just read my first words in Japanese. I am so excited! :D

  • I'm not a big fan of anime, but you don't have to be in order to appreciate this lovely language! :)

  • same here

  • YE, ye... WTF

  • I didn't include the parents into it. But we'll leave it at that. It would be silly to bother with.

And I agree with all your points. I would imagine that the sentence structures would be no different, if not only alittle. I will definitely be having fun learning it.

Though I have never touched any Japanese, or whatever else similar to it, I think I'll have no problems learning.

  • Wow. I didn't know there were that many words made from the first series of the Hiragana. Not bad.

  • It is much easier for me to learn japanese structure because i am asian by myself

  • @DraggingMorons I don't think being Asian has anything to do with it. Unless you know Chinese or Korean, I guess you could have a better time learning Japanese, but if you were simply born asian...I don't think so.

  • @KoopaKonartist

Korean, Chinese or other asian languages have EXACT same word structure.

By meaning born as asian, i meant it that way not like asians who were born in western countries.

Since they have exact same word structure, it is eaiser for same asians who speaks any asian languages to learn much faster.

I don't know how it is difficult to switch the word structure.

You might have grammar problem, but you won't have word structure problem.

  • @DraggingMorons

Of course. Like I said you'd have a better time learning if you could already speak Korean and Chinese. Being born Asian alone doesn't guarantee faster learning.

  • @KoopaKonartist

Believe me, a lot of asian who were born in western society learn not much but enough of their parent's languages. Whether it is Japanese, Chinese, or Korean.

They aren't great at it, but they know how it works, how to speak.

From that base, I am saying that if you are being asian whether you were born in asian country, or born under asian parent, you won't have any kind of struggle from it.

However, changing word structure is not as hard as it seems.

  • anime is wat made me wanna learn japense :) nd i plan to livee in japan one day

  • Ive tried German, Russian and Greek. This is the only one Im succeding at

  • .....funny how there like using a anime song background like its battle time lol

  • OMG! whenever they say love, its the same pronunnciation as manderin!! they both say "ai" my mom told me that alot of japanese have chinese in them!

  • Naruto inspired me!

  • Does somebody know what letters in anime used? Hiragana or Katakana? =\

  • @funnygames93 I'm not certain, but I think they use some Katakana. I heard Katakana is mainly used for representations of sound...

  • @55555Zach Thanks for replying.

I make some search, watched some anime, they are using all the 3 writing systems.

When the anime is opening/ending, they are using Kanji+Katakana to show it its pronounce.

If in the anime they are writing letters or reading news, so Hiragana is used.

But mainly Kanji is used, Katakana used for names and new words, while Hiragana stands for the communication system.

To sum up, Learning all the system should be enough. =P

  • @funnygames93 i think it's hiragana.But I'm not sure.Maybe both.

  • Awesome I got this set memorized! Thank you!

  • stomach... intestines.... yum

you can say that by just saying ii!?

  • Very instructing, thank you very much.

  • on 1:55 it said nephew, but when i saw it on my iphone app it said that it meant 'oi'

  • @xrwrxreesesx3 woops i mean 1:36

  • @xrwrxreesesx3

Pronounced 'oi' but its meaning is nephew

  • Nice, simple basics but still useful because you can already write/speak/understand about 7 words using only 5 characters =]

  • great lesson! it's very helpful. thanks!

  • がとても もきれい ま す

  • 画面がとてもきれいでいいと思います!!

  • great lesson

  • It's never hard to do something that you like. I love learning Japanese, so I know that it's not gonna be that hard for me. Plus I'm good at languages.

  • japanese is supposed to be one of the hardest languages to learn and yet i'm having an easier time with it than any other language i've tried to learn...

  • I think because the Japanese langue is fun, better than spanish.

  • i disagree with people that say that. its not the hardest just appears hard

  • actually u wrong....i talked with many japanese/english ppl and they told me english is harder than japanese...

  • that's why i said ONE of the hardest, i know english is hard but as a native speaker i don't find it so.

  • After a month of learning, i can read hiragana and katakana ;D and basic sentences... etc. more than i learnt after 3 years of doing german

  • @MikePinkney

German is a complicated language, japanese is way more easy than anyone could expect.

  • @AgenteMadreo arabic is the most complicated!!

  • @AgenteMadreo

I disagree, If you already know English, German is pretty easy to learn... Going from Eng to Jap is harder due to the fact the it's a completely different alphabet(s) and the sentences are S O V and not S V O...

  • @MikePinkney ja! Me auch! Japanisch macht Spass!!! =DDD

  • That's kind of true, but I think that their symbols are hard to learn 'cause there are so many. So I'm gonna learn how to speak Japanese, not to write 'cause that would take forever. It's a great language!

  • おもしろい

  • How did you type that? I've always wanted to type Japanese hiragana, katakana, and mybe kanji!

  • @lia526 go to control panel and then click on clock language and region then change keyboard and then add one that's in japanese

the shorcut to change back and forth for english and japanese keyboards is alt+shift(remember to add the keyboard 1st or shorcut will b useless)

  • Japanese course Premium here watch?v=0MK1b8qPymw

  • @OrksAndOrcs me too!! When I got back into watching alot of anime I almost immediately went back to learning Japanese! anime is quite epic!

  • thank you so much! :D

  • this wasnt helpful at all. this is all the easy stuff i already know. i need help on the verbs and how to conjugate the sentences. im sorry. did i say that right. i guess this would be helpful to bigenners.lol

  • japanese writing and reading is soooo hard and tough!

  • lol my i hurts

  • sugoi ne ^_^

  • I feel stupid after watching this xD

:O you can also sai "aoi" to say blue :3

    あおい

and you have to know hiragana, katakana and kanji in order to know how to write xD

If you only learn hiraganas, what you write is simply pronunciation.. Yet with kanjis, each symbol has a meaning :)

    eg.

    kami かみ

    kami, meaning hair 髪

    kami, meaning paper 紙

x3 it all depends on which kanjis you use :D

  • doesnt kami also mean god?

  • i belive that god is kami-sama, but i could be wrong ^-^

  • yeah, kami-sama means god :3

the "-sama" is added in order to show respect/admiration =D

  • ahhh ok :P anime helps here :DD

  • @CookiesxArexForever

    God is あい

  • yeah =D

  • Too basic!!!Dx I wish there was a tutorial on basic japanese sentence structuring!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Popcycleable "O-Genki-Desu-Ka" (Oh-Gen-Kee-Dess- Kah) Meaning "How Are You?" :)

  • @Popcycleable I KNOW!!!!!!! .>.< *headbangs wall*

  • @Popcycleable well, it's best to learn from these "too basic" things before you learn the things you consider "basic". don't put anything below yourself until you learn it.

  • @Popcycleable me to if you find one please send me link that's really the only thing I don't know now to do.

  • Is it ok to write ai as あい instead of 愛 ?

  • This may sound wierd, but, how do you say cute in Japanese?

  • kawaii かわいい

  • Oooh...

  • and the kanji would be 可愛い

  • SUPA KAWAIIIIIIII!!!!!!

  • LOL

  • couldnt help it X3
