Sounds warm,! Can I ask you, have you got outboard fx for when your recording vocal? or do you send the vocalist a dry headphone mix or use the computer fx? I have a Motu I would't mind replacing with there digi card, what do you use as converter?..Also and im uncertain if i should get the M1 8 desk as you seem to get a lot more for just a bit more money.. as I have an Yamaha 02r to sell and a I might even sell my Focurite ISO 430 M11 to raise some funds ..
Great vid. Thinking of buying a fat track... Can you explain exactly how you set up your ins/outs in Cubase and with your soundcard in order to sum using the fat track? For example would you have your 4 stems going out of daw outputs 1-8 then back into the daw and monitor from daw 9/10...? Or do you monitor straight from the TL?
Hi Specialist sound thanks for the vid, is there any reason why you choose to use the unbalance out back to your DAW as to the main balance ones. since you talked about using balance cables from your soundcard to the desk to avoid noise but send the signal back unbalance.i'm thinking of getting one just trying to understand the best way to route it to my Motu MK3.thanks
i see a sweet little virus sitting in the dark back there...this is a great set up, im going to do something similar to this soon. So do you send all your mix busses (pro tools?) to the TLA and then sum to a track inside your sequencer or to tape/adat/etc? where are you monitoring from inside your sequencer or from the TLA? Thanx!!
Can you patch the 4-stereo-input-MIX into the 2 channel strips so that you may have 2 tube stages on the mix without going back into the audio worksation first?
If so, will this degrade the quality at all by sending the mix through moniter outs?
Hey man, and thanks for this great video. Any chance you could make a tutorial on how you have setup your daw with Fat track? That would be truly appreciated.
Thanks specialist sound. Just quick a question about what audio interface i could use. Ive seen the rme babyface, you recommend? or should i go for the tl audio do-f card?
Thanks specialist sound, i really appreciate your input. ive learnt a lot from you and your tutorials. You ever gonna do mastering chain tutorial? as id love to see and hear your views on this matter :)
Hi - cheers for the video, very informative. If I only used a dual out audio interface with the fat track would it defeat the object i.e. applying different levels of tube warmth to each of the four groups. Torn between this and getting a UAD2 with some nice plugins
I'm going to make an upgrade with the RME ADI-2 converter and also the FAT TRACK so as you said probably I'll get a premium quality with this combination.
anyway I have a question ...(maybe a little bit noobish though:)
When the whole mix is going out from the Cubase via the RME through the Fat track and back to the Cubase via RME is there an extra da/ad conversion going on and if there is does it affects the sound significantly?
i'm really interested in the FTrack, but i've read not so much great things about TL products around. You can give me a feedback about the quality of this unit? Have you ever tried other summing mixer like the NEVE, DAngerous Audio or similar for a comparison? thanks!

@lmpcrew
I use the main ones (bal).
The reason i innitially used the unbablanced was due to not having enough cables. I now have bal xlr from the fat track to bal in on the RME.
Good spot :o)

@drcryptic1
Umm, the soundcard is entirely up to you. U could use Motu, RME, Focusrite etc. Whatever has multi balanced ins and outs will do. Pref 8+ I/O's.
Looking at the specs of the DO-F card tho, it looks pretty awesome. A single firewire cable with 10ins 4 outs!!! Looks very good.
I was told by TL that they're working on the Win 7 drivers but they should hurry up as they're missing a trick imo.
But once they've got win 7 64bit drivers for it, i might be thinking of selling the RME.

@robosimphonie
Hi. The answer, No. That was the reason why i bought the RME as its AD/DA conversion is one of the best out there.
specialistsound 1 year ago
@specialistsound
You could use TL audios DO-F card. Looks pretty sweet with good AD conversion.
Or if ur on a Mac, always worth checking out the apogee stuff

How do you arrange your stems into the TL? Do you use the mono when summing as well? Really thinking about getting this...sounds so useful!
watcherviewer27 1 year ago
@watcherviewer27
depends on the track really.
With the mono channels, yes, i sometimes use them as well in the summing as stems.
Its very versatile and simple to do

Hi. If you playback in 480p, the sound quality is slightly improved.
@ Tasters, i havent tried the Neve or Dangerous audio but have heard really good things about them.
This unit is great. The more i use it, the better it sounds. I think its because i'm learning the flavour it adds and how to use it.
