  • Um.. I truly enjoy a good video about building with natural resources, and living in harmony with your surroundings. I am sick to freaking DEATH however, of arbitrary statistics that are obviously bullshit. Those figures were at LEAST rounded off before being presented, and the very first number (95% of forests GONE!) was completely bogus, and only a fool would believe it.

Show us something that isn't filthy with lies, maybe that would be nice in today's daily life.

    You overripe crotch lesion.

  • lol your funny how about do it for free out of your own pocket if you want to help them..it's not that hard clay, sand, straw, water ,wood!! it's in ever country..why do you need that much money for this.you going on vacation or something and need the money .thats silly to donate to something they probably already know gggg's..smells fishy and a con to me.so pretty much your calling them all stupid because they don't live in a developed country like yourself thats just lame boooooooooooooo

  • Hobbism : the Hobbesian theory that absolutism in government is necessary to prevent the war of each against all to which natural selfishness inevitably leads Mankind.

  • I'm making my first Cob oven and when I'm threw I'm going to build a small house and live in it with my kids, and show them that you don't have to live large to be happy! I hope they take wht Ive showed them and live green!! Thank you for this video.....

  • White man is the Devil. Game over.

  • What is the song from the beginning? I love it.

  • I love this Idea! You never hear about affordable ways to build without going thousands of dollars into debt!

  • you get to the end of the clip and discover its an advert and they want donations.

How about some honesty and put that part first,

  • 95 % of the forest is gone????

  • This is wonderful and I have been always thinking why and how we lost this tradition that was practised - who gave us the options of all the new materials - who is making the money and why are we feeding them. The cement houses dont even last a quarter of a century. This is house my house will be built GOD willing

  • use plastic in place of wood no rout no bugs water tight to floods one time buy stop burying it wireing and solor power incorperated into the buildings or geothermal energy is key to saveing our childrens earth these home can be moldes in the injection molding industry

  • @gzyyy6 where is the plastic coming from? how much fossil fuels are required to produce it?

  • were burying it by the hundreds of tons daily electric will melt it to the mold forms as you would pure concrete only useing plastic the panels for energy would be place as roofing and it would be fully selfcontained one time bby worth insureing the geo thermal concept would work in this methid also

  • @gzyyy6 earth my friend is the best method, plastic is not I am sorry to say, yes it will last and that in itself is the worst part, our homes must be able to return to the earth as everything else we make......

  • @TheDudeRulez09 yes but we already made it so use it burying it is not the way out of site out if mind na clean it up and never go back the earth is the best peace dude i live in a forest and understand you please a witt game cant help

  • Free Energy is real but the coverup is strong, if you are interested in a REAL free energy machine then

just search for the LT MAGNET MOTOR in the youtube video search , it is probably the ONLY working magnet

motor out there. Join the free energy revolution!!

  • 90% of all statistics are wrong..... Including this one.

  • @ManTheBush prove it...

  • well said.

  • exelente!!!

  • Why are we slaves to our bills? These messages in the video are awesome and inspiring.

  • LOVE that 1st song clip! please add a credit to the description with the artist's info ! :)

    namaste'

    matthew

    tribalwind . com

  • Indegenous people have poor access to land tenure ie the right of use can end at any time. As a result investment in housing - effort to build, materials used etc are not of the stndard where ownership is assured.

  • 95% of our forests have been destroyed... Source of info please...Where can I find this data? I've lived in the forests my whole life in many different places....

  • how many years do these bricks last on average?

  • well theres cob buildings in Yemen that were built before the times of Jesus, if you believe that, that are still standing today completely intact, google Shibam,

  • in germany there are claybuildings that are over 750 yrs old...how long does the average house built in USA last??

  • i don't live in the USA ...

  • Very cool.

Who does that cool little blue grass jig?

  • I need to learn how to make these homes

  • I agree with this because nations need to be self sufficient trade is good but it also can make you a slave to that nation making you dependent on their resources. If anything the new way forward is more energy sufficient and correct use of the environment. abuse will doom the races just as much as mixing will.

  • Build it tight, ventilate it right is one of the new principles of green homebuilding

  • YOU COBHUFFERS!

  • anyone know who sings that first song?

  • in todays world of corporate dumping you better test your soil and clay before building...mud huts wouldnt do well in love canal.

  • what are the downsides

  • I wonder if one could build cob sky-scrapers...

  • Maybe not cob, but certainly Earthship style using cob / earthen plasters.

  • There is a very nice cob(earthen, sand, straw, water) home in new zeland that has survived two earthquakes and is still in good condition. Some structures in europe are cob structures and have survived for over 500 years.

  • I just bought a farm in Austria , It's made out of cob and has a straw roof . Its about 100 years old . there are problems if not well maintained

And a little insight to the most common problem=Humidity . sooo a good foundation and place it self helps ...an overhanging roof or porch ,and well build stem walls .

plastering is another issue , cause walls need to " breath " and transfer humidity etc.

If this is all taken into perspective and works out fine ...it could last 500 years !

  • I don't know if this would pass inspection in Newhampshire

  • Hi, I have sent you an e-mail straight to your web site and noone has replied to my e-mail as of yet, and this was about a month ago. You say that you can teach people how to make these homes. Me and my family are really interested in building our own home like this, but we need information on how to do it. Please respond to my post here & leave me an e-mail that I can contact you at. I am testing my soil already. Please help us learn more. Thank you.

  • research shows that 40% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

  • hahaha, that was funny

  • i guess someone didn't think so.

  • yeah, some people dont understand a joke when they see it.

  • and 90% of what was true 100 years ago is not true anymore.

  • soooper

  • Love you guys!

  • "Homeowner" term nowadays is just a fancy term that strokes your ego. More accurately you are a HOMEDEBTOR. People are getting into 30 year loans with banks. The home is not yours until you have finished repaying it completely. You don't pay the mortgage for 3 months, and the bank is going to take it away from you. And to top it off, most homes are disposable. Aftter 30 years, when it is finally yours, the home has already started to deteriorate.

  • homes don't deteriorate if the homeowner takes the proper steps and precautions. homes deteriorate because people either cant afford to repair small problems, don't want to, or don't know it needs to be repaired.

if the homeowner will not take care of something as simple as a stud frame house. what makes anyone think that they will get out and patch up the plaster that is vital to a mud homes structural stability and weather proofing?

  • @jorgedominguez2007 Let's add into that mix property taxes. If you do pay off your house you cannot sit back and relax because if you don't pay property taxes, because of low retirement income the county can take your paid off home from you through sheriffs sale so you can never own your home.

  • @jorgedominguez2007 Even after all that if you don't live in Texas and have "alloidial title" you don't own the land, the government does. On your deed you are listed as "tenant" look it up.

  • @Hashishin13 We have it worse than that in Canada , you own your land once its payed off but you do not own the mineral rights, you can buy the mineral rights if whoever owns the them wants to sell , but if you try to buy the mineral rights you can expect to find prospectors digging up your land to make shure you have not found valuable minerals. There is nothing you can do to stop them.

  • @jorgedominguez2007 - Paying for ONE thing over a period of 30 years is crazy in my book. I don't want to live in a place that a BANK can take back from me. As much as possible, I don't want for a bank nor the government to interfere with the kind of home that I chose to live in. I don't want to be dependent on a city to provide me with the basics of life.

  • @jorgedominguez2007 The home, nor the land, is ever owned by the individual as long as a rent tax is forced. Don't pay the rent and guess what?

  • @jorgedominguez2007 i am a homeowner with no mortgage at all, I do have to pay taxes on my land but last year my taxes were about $5, I build from the earth and live off grid, earthen homes are not considered taxable in the state of Texas..

  • @jorgedominguez2007

Your words are so true, I wish others understood that.

  • @jorgedominguez2007 brilliant ANALYSIS of why owning homes through the BANKSTER system is an illusion.

People of the next generation will not have jobs long enough to pay off 30 years morgages etc.

    Well said

  • @nbm34 People of the "next generation" will be working their whole lives. What a stupid thing to say they wont be employed for 30 years.

  • @Indygoguy I think you have a reading disorder, I STATE clearly THEY WILL NOT BE WORKING PERIOD.

THEY WILL NOT HAVE JOBS long enough in poor paid erratic work to pay off morgages even if the banksters start giving money away again etc. GET A BRAIN would help you in this matter,

  • @jorgedominguez2007 and actually, even after "paid off" you still can "lose" the home if you don't pay the taxes on the property.

  • i have a wild dream i dream of people learning and comming together as nature calling it open up place in my heart spirit it fastinating far out to dream it make it come true i want to do this it in my spirit so far out!

  • raul is so silly.......

  • I want to build a natural home in central nsw australia, can anyone help me out, I am very keen to do it as natural as possible to keep within the environment, I hate the modern eyesores that people build now.

  • Awesome stuff so are the Cal-dome homes as well. I am Native American and this stuff really appeals to me a great deal. Everyone should be able to have a home. The only limits here are your imagination that is the greatest thing of all! Keep up the excellent work!

  • I've built a few things like this. I am a Pueblo Native American so this isn't new to me. It's a great way to build, and things my ancestors built before Europians got here still stand today.

  • too much talking

  • wooow kid...i just looked this up....this guy built his house for 500$......i'd do it...then take 5yrs and build a real house next door ....then i'd duster buster the the old house up :D

  • I have two things to say about this: I've built with mud/straw/clay/bamboo to make a nice wall in mu outside wash area. I love the look and feel of the mud wall. It's a soft grey color and the wood beam support has a soft feel.

The other thing I have to say about this video is why is it always white Westerners teaching Brown/Black people how to do things?

I'd love to have someone teach me how to weave with bamboo, for example. When are the Brown/Black people coming to America to teach us?

  • I see your brown/black people teaching...idk. Why do you care anyway

  • I care because they have something to teach us and they are human beings. It's ethnocentric to think that they don't know better and there for White Westerners have to teach them how.

  • the White ones are the ones with the camera and You tube accounts. that's all. Also they may have the accesability to get the education , and the willingness to share.

  • the world is overpopulated as it is, high-tech will only work where skilled laborers lack employment. these people live where resources are in the back yard and cost effort not dollars... we are not so lucky in that respect but until you fork over the money to provide people with advanced green housing we are stuck with what's cheap. these people think more of enjoying their time under the house roof while it lasts not when it will end, just as it should be

  • alln25: Don't you be stupid! If you use LOCAL materials & methods, you must also be aware of natural hazards that occur LOCALLY - If you are knowledgeable, you do NOT build a 3 story multifamily urban mud house! You use materials that are suitable for the LOCAL environment.

  • allot of those "mud houses" that collapse use compromised versions of true unfired earthen building. There are earthen building with uncompromised mixtures that have been in place for centuries. My Check it out, let me know if you are unable to locate this info.

  • the cal-earth dome houses are reportedly earthquake and hurricane proof . what do you think of them- i want an unbiased opinion!

  • Damn, those clay villages are beautiful. I can't wait to build my clay home.

  • Never heard of steel? Earthquakes where I live are rare and far between and never extremely bad.

I'm simply using the clay ideas as insulation, instead of brick.

Wood, brick and steel home collapse, shift and warp. Keep your opinions to yourself.

  • very carefully

  • Why does this Video make me Angry, it really should'nt, but It really does strike a cord with me.

  • Don't really dig the whole fear mongering in the first part of the video. Try winning people over with the positive message. That part of the video is strong enough to make people curious.

  • great idea...but why you actually show people how to do it themselves too? show everyone!

  • Absolutely awesome!

  • don't show close ups of people expounding on how wowwy the idea is, show the friggin' buildings and how to make them!

  • why arent there a million of these videos???????

  • OMG this so cool. How to?

  • Good work.

  • I want to buy a piece of land and do this. I believe the less debt we have and the more we strive to be in harmony with nature the better. Thanks for posting this I believe this will be the way of the future and also alternative energy. 5 stars.

  • @kannon9 Did anything ever come of this? I see this comment is from 2 years ago, perhaps you've realized your dream?

  • @kannon9 - You are NOT alone when it comes to purchase land and building a natural home. There's a very CREATIVE streak within me that wants to create the home that I live it. I would like to live in a home with NO mortgage. In this home I would also like to produce most of my own food, so that I don't have to get everything from a STORE.

  • Argentina!!!

  • I want this song! Tell me where to find it! :)

  • i know, i think its more valuable to donate our human effort than money. i would jump in there in a minute! Love to learn the skill of Cob or rammed earth building.

  • Could they please teach this to builders of U.S. suburban developments and condos?

  • The labor unions will never allow it. They have too much political power.

  • Peter L. Pfeiffer, an Austin-based architect who is nationally recognized for green building led the council-appointed task force that developed the plan and included home builders, energy efficiency experts, construction trade representatives and others.

The objective of Austin's plan is to make homes "zero-energy capable": energy efficient enough that it is cost-effective to install solar panels or other on-site electricity generation such as wind turbines.

  • Actions speak louder than words. True story: My friend own a construction company and wanted to start using structural insulated panels. The carpenters union told him to pay the workers more per hour because SIP construction is faster. My friend said no way. Two days later the state attorney general's office threatened to shut down his company for an investigation that "could take up to a year". My friend gave up the SIP idea and the state AG said, "Everything is fine with your company".

  • Hey kuroneko99. There are about 24 million people in construction in the U.S and maybe a couple dozen people involved in the project you mentioned - or about one in a million. The rest of the industry only cares about maximum profit. They wouldn't care if your house was framed from nuclear waste with solid gold floors if that would give them the biggest profit margin. The real green revolution will come from individuals who design and build their own homes.

  • Yeah, TX is pretty anti-union, I guess that's why they're able to do a lot of stuff like with with City Council working with and giving financial incentives to interested companies.

  • how do i join?

  • You can see eco-homes, including those made by people in this film, on the natural homes map at naturalhomes(dot)org

  • Fantastic. The place of human beings is in harmony with natural environment and its own nature, not packed in artificial, ugly, unfriendly, polluted, violent and static cities which do not care for social inequality and quality of life.

A real civilization moving with real progress knows how to explore its own natural potential, and do not destroy or kills out of ignorance.

  • round houses with stout walls. won't fail yurt type roofs

  • One of the downsides of traditional indigenous building is earthquakes. The mud and stick homes topple easily. I'm thinking of building a cob camp house, but have to find resources to make it as earthquake resistant as possible.

  • great!!!

  • This is Awesome.

  • fantastic!
