The d-pad is pretty much the same except for the fact that the plastic around the d-pad and buttons on the 3000 is concave, whereas the plastic around the d-pads on the other units is convex. This makes the d-pad and shape buttons feel a bit better. The select, start, and home buttons are radically different on the PSP 3000. The Home button is now a Playstation emblem button and has more of a click to it. It feels much more responsive.
