@Kell1295 I wish that i had that privilige. Unfortunately for me, i had never heard of Mr. LaVoe until El Cantante the film came out. I loved the movie until i did my own research and found out about the Real Hector Lavoe...i discovered him thru his music, and great sources regarding his legacy. They could have done a much better job at portraying his image. I am however, thankful for the film because thru it, i found a treasure...El Cantante!! to hear him once, is hearing him for a lifetime.

@HectorTime1963 I think he was portrayed well in the movie. El Cantante was on sale at a store for $5.00. Of course I bought it and so glad that I did. Hector and Fania changed our music and made it into a legacy.

@Kell1295 No doubt about that, i just felt along w/so many others including the Fania All Stars like Willie Colon, Ismael Miranda, etc. who were consultants and even part of the cast, that they focused on his drug use more than anything else.

Hector LaVoe had a beautiful love for his people, broke records, and made history.

As Willie put it, he was a Hero to The Common Man, so many positive elements of Him could have been part of the film. His Legacy Lives forever.
