  • לאן נעלמת שחרחורת מחכים לך

  • thanks for the nice pictures.

  • Nachon Esther, you have taken part in my love for music when I was still a child. My Granny adored you !

  • A beautiful song and a nice slideshow. Just slightly ruined by the not very special effect all the way through. Someone needs to break it to you - these naff effects are as common as dirt, easy as pie and dull as ditchwater. Spoilt but otherwise good.

  • "Shekharkhoret" does actually refer to the darkness of her skin. See the first verse:

    Shekharkhoret yikreuni;

    Tzakh haya ori,

    Umilahat shemesh kayitz,

    Ba li shekhori.

    "Dark girl" they call me;

    Pure white was my skin,

    And from the flame of the summer sun

    My darkness came to me.

  • What a wonderful, rich voice, coming out of such a tiny lady. Have loved her since she was on UK t.v. Where is she these days?

  • Hi, MEDSEC20 !

    Yes, she (Esther Ofarim) was, and is still, wonderful.

    As far as I know, she is living a quiet life in Hamburg/Germany;

    time after time, she still gives concerts.

    Please refer to conmad24 who can much more exactly answer you.

    Kind regards!

  • @MEDSEC20 Just saw some videos here in YOUTUBE ! Esther on stage, Germany 2011. Esters hair are RED now. Looks a little strange to me ( but who am i ). :-)

  • Very nice and very special - GOOD work, Thank you for posting!

  • Thanks a lot for this wonderful version!

    By the way - Moshe Alimelech wrote the words to the traditional Ladino music.

  • "The dark one" they call me,

    but my skin was white.

    Only from the fire of summer sun

    came my dark complexion.

    O dark one,

    you are indeed beautiful.

    In your eyes a fire burns.

    My heart is all yours.

  • "The dark one" they call me,

    all the seafarers.

    If they call me once again

    I shall join them.

    "The dark one" he calls me,

    the prince.

    If he calls me once again,

    I shall follow him.

  • The Hebrew lyrics are by

    Moshe Giora / Moshe Elimelech.

  • Toda rabá!

  • Thanx a lot, dear Conmad24!
