  • "Old men dreaming up wars for young me to die in" Ain't that the truth.

  • Excellent documentery. Great soundtrack. Covers his life from birth to his suicide. Read the "vegas book" when i was 18 and was a convert about the time the drugs began to take hold.Im 43 now and still full of fear and loathing. Really liked hearing from the people who new him best. Liked that it didnt shy away from his dark side too. But his observations the day after the 9-11 attack proved he still had it. He knew the next day that it was gonna be a disaster. He got his ticket and went riding

  • Must see for Gonzo freaks

  • He was....ours....but ,,,he wasnt anybodys....ya know? He feels like he was one of "us". Like he could dig the 'different' people and be cool with those of us who were called "losers" all our lives. But he was also ,,,,just him. Just his own man in his own mind and out of reach....strange...but yea...he was one of 'us' in a lot of ways. Love him so much. He makes me cry sometimes.....dunno why. *cheers* Hunter Merry Xmas everybody ♥ Peace

  • gonzo fist tat on my leg. RIP HST

  • His genius was being part dedicated journalist, part pathological liar, part party-boy, and making it come together and stand up and walk around as a voice.

  • @mlawren7 Right. He said if you are gonna be crazy you have to get paid for it or else they will lock you up. Im havent been locked up but when im high or drinking i cant get anything productive done.

  • Read his books. Stop watching YouTube videos of him on drugs. He was much more than just a recreational drug user, and you should respect his memory as such. This was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century.

  • 1:58 - 'Tim Crouse'...come on, that name is a parody in itself

  • how can you dislike this man you asholes

  • hunter we could use you now man! so much bullshit now! and people are taken it right up their asses and doing nothing! Letting big banks and corporations do as they fuckin want. if we ever needed someone like hunter its now(but there will never another hunter a true original )saw this film and it good documentary

  • Suicide is like saying to God:forget about firing me, I quit! There is a reason why suicidal depressives shoot at their head - that is where the monster resides! Hunter S.Thompson was feeling the weight of back problems, general ill-health, lethargy, bothersome spaces of emptiness...so he shot himself. He lived a life full-circle, and then some! He was doing laps around himself. he had enough. I think his decision was steeped in good intent. He was brave, he knew when to finish his legacy.

  • So did he just take drugs and document trips to places? I'm not joking I really don't know

  • what is gonzo?

  • @nightcrawler511 a muppet

  • Comment removed

  • @nightcrawler511 its a style of jurnalism - gonzo jurnalism

  • @nightcrawler511 style of journalism, Also a name he gave to his attorney

  • you ever found a person who comitted suicide?

  • i love everything about this guy i've read every one of his books and he is my fucking hero

  • This guy made snuff films and hung out at Bohemian grove. Google Mark Dice's video and the Franklin coverup.

  • Firing a gun is a blast

  • God damn it you rotten foul bastard you! You selfish prick you! How could you do it huh!? How could you leave us all here to deal with all this shit!? We need you now more than ever Hunter!!

  • @RacerEckss THERE'S NOTHING SELFISH ABOUT SUICIDE. It is the most difficult, depressing choice to make in life and there's usually an element of feeling like you are wasting the effort and time of other people you know.

  • "started a rumour in milwakee" brilliant!!!

  • I see a party in the heaven whit some ....

  • He was murdered.

  • @lazyfreedom98 Yeah he was, with the classic he shot himself twice stopping once to reload bullshit. RIP some of us know what really happened and why.

  • i would go back in time to meet Hunter S. Thompson

  • HST has affected my life in a way I will never describe

  • long live!

  • Voice of Reason in unreasonable times

  • i think we read into him a little to much but still he is a very interesting writer none the less

  • @negasplenetic how can u say that obviously he was influential and rare

  • @yourAfrodeziac I vexes me greatly that you have no idea how Johnny Depp is no counterfeit nor why HST killed himself, yet you are able to express this horribly misguided idea as if it matters. The irony of this is that illuminating the brutal misguided human condition that you suffer from is exactly what HST did far better than anyone else in the modern era. If Depp were indeed a fraud, he would not have so deftly made the man a household name, you daffy capricious git.

  • @Quixoticah agree also i think depp was one of the people that knew HST more than any of us ever would... after all depp spent a lengthy amount of time with him to prepare for fear and lathing in las vegas, also i think i saw somewhere that hunter locked depp in his basement

  • Hunter S. Thompson was a God.

  • @TheKingRowdy I always thought of him as jesus and his writings the bible

  • @yourAfrodeziac HST and depp were friends.

  • Too bad he killed himself, we needed his voice these past few years.

  • THIS IS ON NETFLIX INSTANT WATCH LOOK AT IT NOW B4 ITS GONE

  • @yourAfrodeziac didnt read that long ass memoir you little bitch

  • Sorry but he is no doctor. lets get it straight

  • @findyj "Hunter S. Thompson, journalist and creator of Gonzo Journalism, received an honorary doctorate from the Universal Life Church in the late 1960s.[11] Thompson often insisted on the title, as did his alter ego Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas who claimed to be a "Doctor of Journalism"."

I hate to simply copy and paste, but it was to prove a point. If you still don't believe me, look it up for yourself.

  • just started reading fear and loathing and it is amazing.

  • @TheMrfirthguymusic Isnt it!! Try The Great Shark Hunt you'll love it...

  • @0Peluche sure i will do that

  • Just another freak in the freak kingdom.

  • @creasonbryan You probably called your mom over to show her this "disgusting man" didn't you?

  • @HappyAngerMan Dude, calm down. It's a quote from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

  • @creasonbryan Just trollin, man.

  • @HappyAngerMan AHHHHH Dammit. Subtle troll was subtle. Good game, sir.

  • @creasonbryan hehehe youtube is a feeding ground for a good trolling. Just can't resist some times.

  • my hero

  • a drug person can learn to cope with things, like seeing their dead grandmother crawling up their leg with a knife in her teeth.... but no one should be asked to handle this trip...

  • "Jesus, bad waves of paranoia, madness, fear and loathing - intolerable vibrations in this place. Get out. The weasels were closing in. I could smell the ugly brutes."

  • god I hate johnny deep he must be fucking retarded

  • Just finished reading Hell's Angels. Brilliant. If I become a writer, I want to be able to see the world like Hunter did.

  • @ZeroMalarki better start dropping some acid.

  • Fucking legend.

Whats the song at the end, by the way?

  • @BobNThat long as i can see the light by creedence clearwater. it's on cosmo's factory

  • You can turn your back on a person, but never turn your back on a drug, especially when its waving a razor sharp hunting knife in your eye.

    Hunter S. Thompson

  • I wish I met this guy if i did Id possibly have a major Blast with him

  • " dont get them out frauline!...dont let the beasts give in...frauline nie....oh..frauline.....SAVAGES! ALL SAVAGES! terrorits with keys....frauline....call me.last time he contacted frauline nie and myself.

  • where can i find this full documentary

  • HST, like so many great writers (Truman Capote comes to mind), was so incredibly strange in his personal lifestyle. His work stands on its own, but thank goodness teachers don't lionize these guys to our middle school aged children, as they might a Rockefeller or a Carnegie!

  • Of all the men that have run for president in the twentieth century, only George McGovern truly understood what a monument America could be to the human race.

    Hunter S. Thompson

  • deep guy, stuff like this keeps him alive..

  • awsome hunter s, did more for the pen than he gets credit for, he gets alot of leachers who do things in his name, but they dont believe in what they do they are weekend thompsons....hunter however was the real deal check the new hunter vid on my page i imagine his true fans will love it and the weekend thompsons will.......well theyll probably tell there freinds they were to high too

  • a rare example of an actual patriot.

  • Which book is Depp reading from at the beggining?

  • @notsoMightyQuinn Hell's Angels. It was Thompson's first published book.

  • Plus for Patrick Buchanan!

  • did he died?

  • @chronik420mad he commited suicide in 2005. Rest in peace Thompson.. the world could use more people as revolutionary and unique like you

  • @chronik420mad hahhaa

  • awesome documentary, definitely a good watch for hunter fans

  • hunter is my idol, a man who can stump steven hawking in summing up life. A drug addict, no a person who uses mind altering substances to gain a better understanding of the world

  • CAT POO HAS BEEN FOUND ON A DISTANT PLANET !!! the unbelievable truth on the video spacecat 175

  • a great writer a intelligent man he is missed !

  • He got the title for having the most bad ass funeral, you count on that.

  • @J450 wait what?

  • ..just another freak in the freak kingdom

  • I can never praise this documentary enough. Down the line, it's one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. The music, the entertainment value and it's all facts. Plus, Johnny Depp reading the books, just as they were meant to be read. That's what bothered me while watching "Omnibus" The narrator was pretty overacting.

  • Transmetropolitan

  • He was a great persona but I question whether he was happy or not. The Songs of the Doomed series are my favourites, just little tidbits of his shenanigans and endeavors all over the globe really interest me. I just finished reading Hell's Angels for the sixth time.

  • FUCKING YES!!!

  • Miss this fucker,I meet HST in 1987 and 2004,just before he left us for good.R.I.P Hunter, you were one of a kind.

  • Lucky...

  • Too weird to live, too rare to die

  • @mooiegarage haha i tag that on my bustops [: love the flim.

  • @mooiegarage

    Cept he died :o

  • great american true beleiver of individualism

  • F&L'92 is dark; clinton & his campaign manager james carver & a cast of purebred psychopaths;clinton was obviously MPD through MKUltra; mind controlled voodoun; scared the shit out of HST; he went with wenner & a few others of the rolling stone crew to meet him; handed him a reed mouthpiece for his sax; clinton's reaction was chilling: he fingered it distractedly then gave a banshee-like shriek; all youHST fans gotta get thatbook; 'F&L'72 = a young man showing off. '92 nothing to prove; v scary

  • thanks for the recommendation. Read F&L'72 a long time ago but I will check out the 92 one.

  • i read it a few years ago and i still occasionally dip into it. HST was born to write; in every sentence there's a turn of phrase that expresses perfectly what he wants to share with you. He was saying years before that anecdote in Icke's The Biggest Secret that when he tripped on acid and was around the Republican party high command on a press junket or whatever they all turned into reptiles (hence his Republican Party Reptiles). The hotel scene where they all turn into lizards wasn't metaphor.

  • the french fry thing had me cracking up!...

  • Im sorry but F&L 72' is the the only F&L. I mean yes it does seem like a good book but there is a big difference between 92 and 72.

  • YES!!

  • Where is the Hunter S. Thompson of our day now? people get the wrong impression from his work. he didnt want you to glorify him, he wanted you to standup against the decapitated truth that dances around the government today. One of the greatest influences of my life, but come on. . . gonzo was a style, not a tombstone. We need people like him now to standup against Establishment or those greedy bastards will eat our lunch, or whats left of it. So thank HST by keeping his legacy moving with us

  • Well if he is out there today. He would be thinking of blowing his own brains out.

  • yes! one of the basic workings of our democratic system is that people can oppose it freely, and not fear any wrath.shame that it clearly doesn't work. nevermind the drugs, mr thompson is - or was - a guy whose life seems ( to me at least) to apply this noble cause of opposition.

As for the rest of it, I say it is truely dispicable.

  • ... but who gives a fuck anyways? no one i ever came across.

  • @fairedusport you should review you poli sci papers, friend, this is NOT a democracy.

  • @fucitorfiteit no, i don't think it was a style. neither do you.

  • yay! I just watched this last night, it was amazing! Hunter was a fuck!ng genius. I loved F&L book and movie. It made me really depressed when he killed himself, but @ least he went when he wanted. ~*~*LoVe for Dr. G*~*~

  • Hunter was the man!!!

  • Amazing author. I am currently reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

  • cool

  • Gonzo freak here. Have the insignia tattooed on my left bicept. I'm joining the marines in a few months and am scared shitless out of my mind. I'm doing it for gonzo, I'm doing it for my country. How can you complain about something you've never been a part of? Become one with an organization you disapprove of, then try to do THEIR job to your liking. God help me.

  • are you serious about joining the marines man? "for gonzo, I'm doing it for my country"? because Thompson does not want you to do that. and your country - its not your country your doing it for, its the people who run it. the small handful of very very rich people who run it. who make more money from you doing it. so fuck them. and you my brother, i sincerely hope you reconsider. because your life IS valuable.

  • Jesus, what is wrong with you crazed fucks? He is not some ancestral spirit looking down on us poor shitheads through a haze of spectral hallucinogens and judging our devotion to some bullshit or another. Do what you want with your own damn life.

  • hunter couldnt have put it better himself

  • Quote: Do what you want with your own damn life. ...Hunter did

  • i dont think you know enough of what your talking about because if you did you'd be fighting the machine not joining it so join the marines for your country and for yourself and pick a later date to do something for gonzo!!

  • Man, just do whatever you want to, thats what Gonzo really wanted for you and for us all.

He wouldnt be pissed at you for joining the marines, like this guys are saying.

Just do like him, try to live at full speed, have a good time, screw yourself, even if youre in a war zone.

    Good luck man.

  • Fuck you, you unimaginative, ignorant peice of shit patriot. Thats right, patriot, because all patriots have unquestioning loyalty to their country and are therefore slaves of the government. Go get yourself shot in Iraq you idiot.

  • Nice I just went to your page. I see you like shoot them up viedo game. Why you pick up a real gun and join the real military littel boy. Your do you just like the benefits of acting tough on the internet.

  • I share this account with my brother, idiot.

  • What's your point ? Your not smart enough to have you own page or is child services look for you for not paying your child support. Loser !!!!!!!!!!! Write back soon sweet heart.

  • and...im pretty fucking drunk

  • Its overwith the wave you created has hit the beach an flatened out. I think your movie was much more interesting that you, for I have gone beyond you, in my own way...I dont follow you or look up to you. I'v made my own stand and itroduced my fingerprint to the world, Good luck to you were ever you are. Just to let you know...were very similar but yet so differt.
