  • I was in my high school choir a long time ago (let's just say over 10 yrs ago) and we had to sing this song. We even had dance moves to do for it. I still remember them.

  • You guys have a good barritone section. In my choir (8th grade) we have almost no guys... It gets old having to sing out.

  • it's like a cross between " God rest ye merry gentlemen " and " hit the road Jack "

  • my version in my chior

  • Well, this could have been cool if the lyrics weren't changed. I like it better when it was all cultish

  • @BrakBoy hi

  • Yep these are the ORIGINAL words by Dorothy Fields. thankyou. Sammy davis Jnr made a more sexy version which is the one about fly you wings to daddy etc.

  • Very good to hit that note.

    Well done.

  • i sang it for my concert our was different and higher

  • i sang this in all county chorus in florida x]

  • Not bad, but you should look at 'Ysgol Glanaethwy' singing this song..... it is on here and it is amazing.

  • it is good!

  • Our middle school chorus is doing this :) I love this song! It's so fun and upbeat and high (i'm not egotistical, it's just a fact that i can go the highest out of the 1st sopranos in my chorus so i love high songs)

  • A little more work on the dynamics would be a good idea. (:

  • you guys need more dynamics

  • The arrangement was actually done in 1968 for the Churchland High School Chorus directed by the arranger, Richard E Barnes. Dick altered the original stage lyrics which would have been considered "racy" in public schools at that time. It is amazing to me that I am hearing the song that my friends did in high school many years ago. By the way, Dick was a great arranger and accompanist for Fred Waring at his summer music camps at Shawnee on the Delaware. Thanks for bringing this back "To Life"

  • one lady's voice is spoiling the choir.. -.-

  • was the pianist on drugs? .-.

  • Are the piano players THAT nervous!! GET IT TOGETHER!!

  • we are singing this version in my school; this song is well done

  • alot of song have 2 sync lyric sets listen to sagf Simon and Garfunkel and all classical songs.this is why we laugh at popular music and its build although the build is good there tech is rely low.also the last note was brilliant but the sound overall was very bad.I think you should move onto people around your class.

  • Oh man. I remmeber learnign this when I was in my school's after school choir...

I worked so hard on this!

...then, i was sick the day we performed it... D:

    They did very good!!

  • i like the version my teacher picked much better

and our pianist is so much better

  • i like the rendition my teacher picked much better

  • I have to sing this in chorus. For me, it's actually pretty easy. At one point there are three different lyrics. :)

  • and we are better than you and we are in fifth and fourth grade.

  • my school is so much better than this at least we do sighnlangwidg.

  • I remember singing this in year 7 :) But we sang the other version :D

  • Why do they change the lyrics?

Spread your wings and fly to Daddy

Take a dive a swim to Daddy

Hit the floor and crawl to Daddy.

Apart from that it's a lousy rendition.

  • @jarviss64 there are two different versions. and it's a great rendition.

  • @jarviss64 no, these are the real lyrics. The fly to Daddy lyrics are the changed ones.

  • we are doing a mad shorter version of this 83

  • i am soing this in school it cool!1

  • I was in 6th grade when we did this song in choir back in 06 dang it's already almost been 5 years?

  • I did this song at camp and of all of my friends I was the only one on the high note(=. on a related note are directers name was scott but my friends called him craig.

  • i remember doing this song in 8th grade... my soprano group which was like 8 girls out of like 30 sopranos got to sing the super high part only... it was my favorite song and i still sing it randomly xD

  • this brings back memories from choir when i was like 10

  • cuz it would be plagiarism...they always change the choir songs around.

  • It's from the Sweet Charity musical.

  • Brilliant singing but the piano failed at 2:13

  • i sang in choir. out of 15 songs this is my crushes fav.

  • Lol i had to sing this song yesterday for choir

  • Rythem of life by,,, idk but its from a musical called something like wild cherries.

  • whats the name of song? and author?

  • the rhythm of life from the musical sweet charity. sammy davis jr. sang it in the movie. their are 2 versions of this song. the one in this clip is the kids/church version and then the musical version.

  • not bad.

  • Not Bad!

but the Woman with the Wood in her hands has Big legs!?!

  • I don't really like how the guys are totallly overpowering the ladies..i'm just sayin haha :)

  • *is so confused* how comes there's like two different lyrics O.O

I swear it's Daddy, not Neighbor.....

Oh well. It sounds really good, i love this song so much ^_^ Such good singers.

  • One is the "Adult" version; the other is the "childrens" version. Why they made two; Im not sure; but I love the children's version of Neighbor...We sang it and went to state with it; :))

  • can you please tell me the author and name?

  • these are the school appropriate verson lol i sang this for countys

  • @MikoCat the daddy version is kids version

  • @MikoCat the one were singing for our chorus says neighbor to

  • @MikoCat We're singing this in choir, and in our music book it says 'neighbor' :)

  • @EmilyJustem haha, same here

  • @MikoCat Yeah thats the version we are doing its irratating cause i cant find the other one

  • @MikoCat i did this song at school as part of my choir and it was neighbor. so... HA! (not to be mean or anything)

  • @MikoCat the original is neighbor not daddy

  • @MikoCat its neighbor. we are doing this song in my choir lol

  • @MikoCat They original lyrics are Nieghbor, these are the correct lyrics. My choir teacher has the original, and we had to learn this song.

  • @MikoCat yeah it is but there is a chorus version and its supposed to be like that. I think it is for copyright reasons

  • @MikoCat yeah it is but there is a chorus version and its supposed to be like that. I think it is for copyright reasons i know bc ive sang it XP

  • @MikoCat no there is two versions of the rhythm of life. this is the original one. the other version is by sweet charity that remix the song and replace neighbor for the daddy.

  • @MikoCat I AGREE!!

  • @MikoCat

That's how a good choir SHOULD be :D

My choir is also singing that song, though it's the shorter version.

I just hope we're as good as you!

  • @MikoCat the chior version is changed so that the singers will some how relate to the music... like what if one of the singers didn't have a "daddy"?

  • @MikoCat Mine at my school is Neighbor but who cares same song right :)

  • @MikoCat The choral version of this song was changed. I don't know why, but the version of this song from the musical says daddy. They are good though.

  • @MikoCat

well ik you sent a comment ab this song 2 yrs ago but ..the reason is because in alot of chior songs they have parts...and the daddy is part of the other languages way..in america its neighbor i am doin this song in chore! no hard feelings!

  • @MikoCat my choir class is singing the one with neighbor. theres probably 2 different versions cause i believe its in another language too. oh well, though.

  • i go to this school

  • my junior high choir sang this! AND I PLAYED THE PIANO! and im only 13!! this song is hard, but it feels good when u accomplish it! GOOD WORK Woodstock Academy!

  • dang really?

    not bad

  • omg! u sang this at disney??? i sang at disney b4!! was it at EPCOT??

  • soo fastt!!! :O but nice ish...my class wins though!! xD

  • I think the middle schooler should shove it up their butt. We PWNT at that. If they'd been doing awards, we would have gotten like the best score ever, as always. Although those last couple notes sound a little off. Minus the high one. I'm not sure who sung it, but good job!

  • That was my high note lol

  • thats crazy. i think my throat would collapse if i attempted that note. so bravo =)

  • lol the high D! i got picked for that note in countys!

  • i sangg that song too! we sang 3-part harmoney. Exelent job! did you kno thats a college song?

  • I dont mean to be egotistical but I'm just very proud of myself. The very last note, the really high one was me. All by myself. It was hard getting that to project but I'm pretty proud of myself =)

  • well done

  • good job!! ^_^ it sounded awesome ♥

  • the high fa? I can reach that in the woman's octive.. i dont even practice..

  • It's a high D, and if you're a guy, not something to brag about =P

  • @TikkleMeTorry wow! that was really good for being all by yourself. when we sang it there were about 5 girls hitting that note, and it ended up being just about as good as yours! good job!!

  • @TikkleMeTorry

But you guys have actuall guys that have deep voices. Boys in my school have squeaky voices all due to puberty and some girls had to join the boys when the voices split.

  • @TikkleMeTorry Wow I listened to the last few counts after reading your comment! Great job! The tone is wonderful and pure for such a high note, and you made it sound so easy!

    Was it a high C?

  • @chispamia Thanks! That was a long time ago so I'm not sure but if I remember correctly, it was a D. I ended up going to school for music, majoring in voice. Now that I look back on this, it's funny just because I know it's not all that great (it was out of tune at the beinning =/) but for being 18 then, I'm still pleased with myself! Haha Thanks so much for your kind words!!

  • @TikkleMeTorry I'm impressed! As a a soprano myself ^-^ I'm very impressed! :D Great job!

  • @TikkleMeTorry good job for hitting the A ehhee

  • @TikkleMeTorry

Wow!!!! Thats amazing!!! I wish I could sing that high :D well done :)

  • ha thats better than pretty good, that was great

  • gotta say this is pretty good the choir im in is singing the same song
