Hey one railfan to another, whats the legal limit distance one can be from a main line? I was out filming and a guy stopped and told me i was supposed to be about 50 feet or more away from the track. Ive always heard it was 20 feet. A response would be greatly appreciated.
@ThePossum07 I think railroads want us to be at least 50 feet away but in my personel opinion as long as your not on the tracks or too close I think you'll be fine. 20 to 30 feet is a good distance. If they have no trespassing sings posted I don't recomend walking past them. It also depends on the cop who stops you what he thinks as well.
