Backing tracks are common use for japanese bands live, i don't think Gazette use them that much, save for the female voices part on this one but they have support members playing guitar and backing vocals behind the scene, you can see them clearly on the Inazuma Live 2011 videos, anyway doesn't mean they are phoney, it just brings a bit of depth and polishing to the sound

And....Yeah, I'm assuming they use backing tracks for some guitar parts, but they use piano and violin backing tracks that the band themselves don't play, and no one criticizes them for that, so it's no different, is it?

I think sometimes you have to use recordings. I mean, they make everyone lip sync at the Superbowl probably because it would sound horrible if they didn't, right? It's not that the performers aren't talented.

I don't believe they used it in this performance.

Do a youtube search for "playback aoi" for an obvious example. Honestly I do not know how many time I noticed it but this is true, but not easy to catch on their live video performance since the sound is remastered and is not exactly what you will hear live.

I do like this band actually I don't want to sound offensive. I would not make not point if I did not actually believe it was true.

@hkworkstation Ok so I watched that video about 7 times and if you look closely while Uruha is still playing other guitar actually joins after Aoi starts playing. It seems like playback but when Aoi doesn't do anything there sounds only Uruhas guitar. But I'm not saying they don't use playback. Maybe they do but not really often.

I guess this is just to sound better for a very polished finish. Anyway I believe they are great musicians and composers, I am not blaming their abilities, I will never play that well :) and I feel they are doing it less often in their recent shows, not sure about that though. Also beware that their is some editing on the sound when the DVD is released. So what we have here is not exactly what you hear live so it might confuse us a little bit if some backing tracks are added.

@iPotatos Of course its a recording. JESUS CHRIST..... They mic up the bass,guitars vocals, and drums. But there are several out comes when it comes to sound while performing live. Because of the dome size and shape etc etc concerts tend to sound different at different domes. for example. type in filth in the beauty saitama and compare the sound to the tokyo dome. and get back to me on which one sounds better. Saitama is superior when it comes to hard rock or metal performances.
