DCF's main purpose is to bring federal dollars into state coffers. We need to stop spending federal dollars on child protective services. This practice makes taking children from their homes and placing them in foster care a money making business. If child protective services was funded by local dollars there would no longer be a price tag attached to each child. Then the focus could move to the actual protection of children.

i took my daughter into cps. she was at her dads. he threw a gallon of anti-freeze with an opener-funnel attached at her back. i discovered a large bruise and cut mark on her back and this was 2 weeks after the incident still visible. imagine what it looked like 2wks before. she had been crying to come see me (mom). dad told her that she was hurting debbies(step-moms) fealings. as she walked away he blasted the jug into her back. this is what she told to cps. CPS FOUND NOTHING WRONG it was OK!!!

cont: infants and young children are in high demand and poor parents cannot pay to have an honest lawyer defend their rights, (here, they are all connected and decide all cases prior to hearing a word of testimony from the parents or their pleas). Older children are givien counseling by the agencies that have agreements with the state and courts and get paid. The system (Judicial/Law) is broken from the top down. Too many states. counties have the "If I don't see it, then its not a problem attitude." In this state private contractors have agreements with the state that gives kickbacks to Judges that recommend removal of children from their homes and placed in foster care or put up for adoption. Many of these judges have been fined and sanctioned but it still continue as none have been removed from the bench. This is not child protection but profit

My son was a witness to a crime and DCF wanted to interview us and "provide support for our son". Keep in mind it was DCF who recommended the charges against my son, and now you want to provide support to my family? What the hell? I hired a lawyer and we proved my kid was simply a witness. After the fact, DFS still wanted to provide us with delinquent support. Idiots.

Child Services needs a huge revamp - they have failed again and again and again. Have seen it with my own grandkids. Seen it in families all around. You call, they 'investigate' (giving adequate warning, of course!) - nothing is found - or if it is, the offender is told to 'correct this or that' - and that's the end of it . . . until the kids end up dead.

Thats what really pisses me off about government run protective agencies in regards to children there is no accountability and equal treatment under the law. Here in Canada we have had some whoppers in regards to this issue. The kids end up dead, dying in the most horrible circumstances imagenable and the case workers walk away scot free. If a child under our care was abused to death even if we weren't the abuser we would be held accountable for allowing it to happen.

f you want to help, contact CASA. They are child advocates who represent the child, not the state.  They are regular, everyday people who volunteer to represent the child in court proceedings. I think they also do home visits. I'm not sure if CASA in every state, but it's worth a google search.

Some of our former foster children, who are now adults,are glad we were there for them during some very difficult times in their lives. CPS is far from perfect, but without child protection agencies, there would be so many more children suffering from child abuse and neglect...

I knew and wanted to help, but how? they knew she was beat and obviously dgaf. she was put in a foster home at 15, and is still there now at 17.but she was abused for 15 years.15 years her father had an opportunity to hurt her, or kill her. and thats how that shit happens. they wait to long to do something, if they do anything at all.

I agree that calling CPS is a joke if there is any real child abuse involved; you can be sure that they won't respond, because they are too busy stealing desirable young children from loving homes to place for adoption bonuses. I urge people, if you suspect child abuse, call the police, but not CPS, if CPS does intervene, it will only be to make the situation worse somehow.

@NancyHey please don't discourage people from reporting child abuse...without our local child protection agency, my children would have been left in a home where they were starved, beaten and one almost killed. It took years for my children to recover. The police will call CPS if child abuse is suspected.
