Roger, a perfect example of the mystery of resiliancy. Why do some make it and others do not? I have dedicated my adult life to children and spent four years in a group home. I saw horrible exploitation and deception. I hope one day to write a book. I received my Master's degree in Spec. Ed. and now have a room with severely ED students. I give them love love love. Roger is now a beautiful man on the inside and outside. He made it. How many won't? What a testimony! God bless you Roger! ~ Cata
i can't say I had a sad childhood, I had a very good childhood, and I had no idea that there were kids my age that received no love, but my Father did not, but what he did for me is what you did for your kids, give them a warm and loving home, and i hope that your books will make some parent realize the world does not exist for them only, but to make this a better place to live by nuturing our children with love, and respect for our fellow human beings. God Bless you Sir.
Unfortunately this is probably just one of the many incidents that made Mr. Kiser such an amazing person. Way to overcome adversity and make others aware!
I spent time in an children's home but they were kind to me. It was only when I was at my "real" home I experienced emotional abuse with a mother who could never show never love. I too chose to raise my own 3 children differently. We are VERY close and loving. Abuse can stop.
I don't think that I had been in America as long as a year before I was on the Howdy Doody Show and was featured in the peanut gallery. Wish I could remember more of that event, but I could not speak English. Well, I did learn Hot- Dogs, Dodgers and Yankees, and of course Coney Island. New York was a Disneyland for this little girl who had never seen an elevator let alone a skyscaper. So glad I am here, I love my adopted country.
reminds us of how taken advantage kids were in the 50's and before...when they had no rights and nobody believed anything that came out of the mouths of kids--whether it concerned abusive adults or wrongdoing by adults.
I remember when in the 3rd grade they showed films for 15 cents "my friend flicka"..The ones that didnt have the money had to sat in an abondoned room as the ones with money got to watch, To me that was also abuse.. The woman was a f**k**G bitch!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
First, you are using Flash to produce content that can be done with ordinary HTML.
Second, you let the perpetrators get away -- and therefore to harm other children.

Child abuse was so common in the 40's and 50's.
