Very nice bow! The older style bows are a real treat to the eye. I just can't really warm up to the excessive string bridges on most modern Mongolian bows. I also really appreciate the curves rather than the straight lines and angles on a lot of modern bows. Beautiful work!
I wonder who is the better maker of Mongolian bows; Lucas Nowotny, or Jang Yuhua (this bowyer). I mean no offence btw. Mr. Nowotny taught Mr. Yuhua, however Mr. Jang specializes in Asian bows... so idk. Yokhua care to give opinion?
@yokhua Hi Yokhua . These are wonderful bows ! Do you make them yourself yet ? and if so ,it would be great to see your make a video about it . all regards.
Yokhua, can say beautiful! bow replicas. Ears are really replicated from Khublai Khan's hunting scene, ridge seems correct. But, the bow that Khublai Khan is shooting at this depiction has white horn belly and grip seems to be more reflexed from my point of view. Also, how do you explain limbs tapered toward base of the ears shown at the depiction? Pls, explain me your opinion about this problem, is this possible to make hornbow with slightly tapered limbs toward base of siyahs.Greetings!!!!!
@MrSnorreke It is not "replica"; it is "clone".I made this bow from a real antique. It is not white horn. it is birch bark.. the belly is covered by a layer of sinew then birch bark attached over it. And that is I am going to do with this bow. And the black parts of the original bow is another kind of bark.. I have it from north Mongolia, but don't know the name of the plant. Actually you can order this kind of bow from me. go to my web site
