I suppose it could be error money, as you put it, rather than notes which have been withdrawn from circulation. But as my colleague Tim says in the video, this seems a more fun way of disposing of unwanted notes than burning them, which is what happens here in the UK.
Another British person putting down the United States and for your information, that was error money that was shredded, it was just shredded for nothing. It was money that did not meet BEP standards and was replaced with *Star* notes.
