Hmmm... Ms. Cutter, have you seen the Opinion of the 11th circuit? All your lovely math will be for naught after Justice Kennedy throws this monstrosity out.
Out of control costs and rising premiums haven't gone ANYWHERE.
Listen. Just raise taxes on the rich, slash war spending (preferably significantly), close corporate tax loopholes, and abolish the Fed, and the real recovery can get underway. Capiche?
80% of the cost has to go to healthcare. How about doing that with medicare? oh wait, we do, only we have LOADS of fraud on medicare. The government runs 0 anti fraud on it, once you factor in what companies use for anti-fraud, you would have medicare pumping out less per dollar taken in than private insurance.
at 2:30, i think she just said something weird. If i understand, she is saying under the new bill, people who used to get FREE healthcare won't. They will all have to pay. Maybe this bill isn't so bad, we can remove free healthcare and force even the people scraping by to have to pay. So now they won't have any excuse for not paying and getting FREE healthcare.
now, it has been awhile since i took calculus, but shouldn't it be that the area above the line we pay now, should equal the area below the line? To show that the overall cost is the same? I don't think you can just have everyone under the line, unless there is something signifcantly missing.
hmm? Let's find out the real truth. Listen to YouTube video:.......Economist Doug Holtz Eakin explains the budget gimmicks employed by Democrats in HC Bill
There is only one way America can reduce the cost of health care, and that is to change the American Lifestyle. Americans live an unsustainable lifestyle, and it needs to change in order to see any reduction in health cost.
I do think the president is doing his best to solve this issue that should have been fixed years ago, but we cannot continue to try and find ways to "manage" cost. We must attach health cost at the source, and that is we must educate, and change the American lifestyle
AthleticFX = you forgot to peel off all the illegals and send them home. You and Odumbo get off our plundered bank acounts and stealing our estates and over-taxed BACK$! We do not want your nanny obama state edicts anymore. Go away and leave us alone. Kill way more terrorist - less taxes - less regulations - less obama = economy would ~ right ~ itself in 6 months.
@memama2 Like you have a fucking estate. ROFL!!! The war on terror costs 10X more than healthcare reform EVER will and 1000 times more of us lost family members to cancer than 911.
Billyobot 275 times over........you of course want the sharia law and world wide coven to take over and make owebummer head caliph. ...to avoid any war. Losers vote for losers. Hoping acorn would give em a welfare pimp dream world. Like Obama is trying to do now ~
@memama2 Yeah, I want Sharia Law! ROFL! MP1 Division Officer, Engineering Dept., USS Nassau, Amphibious Squadron2, Fifth Fleet In support of 24 Marine Expeditionary Unit. Invasion of Iraq March 2003. Shut your hateful repuke mouth until you know who you're talking to. Obama ran on healthcare and won. Why are repukes so anti democracy? As for the economy, unemployment is down from 10.2% to 9% because Obama's on jobs now. Can't pull yourself up by your bootstraps if you can't breathe!
BillyOBAMAboy....sadly the obysmal has you still conned? THERE ARE NO MORE JOBS TO LO$E! ....a Doctor discussed this obama idiocy on radio today. And said he has cut his staff and office. And all his friends and family are jobless. YET owebummer keeps on insisting his insane clown posse eco ponzi & pension scams keep on being funded BY OUR LA$T DOLLAR! ...no one believes your liberal math lie about "jobs is growin". Epic fail far left liars like the obama magical math that adds up going *boink*
Obama is 1 big ass mistake eco con economy killing liar. No thanks. These far left mock board magical math talks never add up. They seem to leave out - 666 - extras. So the con can go on ~
The Chief Medicare Actuary testified before Congress today.. In his testimony, the actuary stated that Obamacare will NOT hold down costs and also will NOT let everyone keep their current insurance if they like it. In other words Obama LIED. Again. This administration is nothing but one lie after another lie.
yeah nice video, but why don't you explain the real reason the costs will be that low. by the year 2014 comes around you will have already been paying for it for 3 years without getting anything for it. not to mention the fact that you didn't actually include the doctor redemtion bill that wasn't included in the bill because it would have shown it costs more than 1 trillion dollars. nice try but we are not stupid.
If you buy four cars, you pay the same price for those cars... if you have a family of four...your price for healthcare is different. It makes sense now. We all drive the same car, but pay what we can afford to pay. If I work 90 hours a week vs. people who work 30-40 hours a week, they pay less for healthcare. Thanks for clarifying.
@jaceaerojock Now I'm for healthcare reform... but please seriously focus on how to frame the argument. REDO THIS VIDEO. Please word it instead of .."This is what it costs you" to this is how much it saves you... Imagine.. I'm about 45k a year without overtime and 55k a year with overtime I view it as 3500 dollars increase for putting in extra hours... The message is "saving money." Why not word it that way? Please read the book. "Words that work-Its not what you say, it's what people hear."
jaceaerojock = there is no "savings" in obama care. Better wise up and listen to YouTube video: ... Economist Doug Holtz Eakin explains the budget gimmicks employed by Democrats in HC Bill
@memama2 I watched the video-(He didn't impress me, He calls CEA,CEO) His three points were. The bill counts the premiums toward entitlement as a reduction and ignored spending after that, left out 115 billion of spending to setup the program, money transferred from the social security trust fund for healthcare expenditures by my estimates its will raise deficit 500 billion. He doesn't say how much it raises deficit without reform? It will be 4.6 trillion in 2019, up from $2.6 trillion in 2009.
Are people really concerned weather or not their health care is going to be better than those who make less money than them. Is feeling superior really what is most important to you?! Think about the countless children w/ pre-existing conditions that will be refused health care once they are kicked off of their parents insurance. Its easy to be on the opposition while you're young and fit. But when you are old and sick and medicare puts you in a donut hole. What will you do then?
This is a no-brain decision. While it is not the single payer system I hope for my country, it is a step in the right direction (which just so happens to be left). :-)
Everyone thinks healthcare reform isjust so the government can control their lives, but hey they had no problem with the patriot act when the government allowed itself to monitor the books we check out from the library and tap our phones. Idiots.
Notice her HUGE *gulp* right before she says how many people will be added to health care in America?
How do you add millions of citizens that are *typically* less healthy than the average American AND can't afford to pay anything anyways, and expect to get better results?
What cost controls are inherent in the bill that will start to decrease costs to private employers?
We already saw the effects of this 15% limitation to BCBS in Cali.
so do I get better care than those who make less than me? Why is this plan scaled as a progressive tax? This will cost us all more than the current system.
At best, this video is occlusion. The speech has nothing to do with the HCR act. There is no discussion that everyone is forced to pay for insurance, by force of threat, loss of freedom and constitutional right. It is tyranny at its height. When a government forces its citizens to do something, with the force of bodily harm and / or incarceration it is called tyranny.
This video has nothing to do with HCR. Put a blond in front of the country and everyone loses their mind.
Wow, just a couple of days ago this video was something like 150 likes, 2 dislikes, with insightful comments... But now it looks like the opinion pushers got wind that people were behaving well and learning. :/ Too bad.
Most seniors paid in = about $90,000 - $150,000 in SS. They have collected = $300,0000+ and that is not counting their medical! Most of the workers now? Will have PAID in 3-4-5-6 -7 - $800,000 and have yet to ever collect a dime! And their reward for being forced to be in this ponzi scam? NOT being able to collect forever! I heard an economist say "you should be able to take your SS money donation and put it under your mattress and opt out. It would be safer" ....obama of course wants it 4 HIM!
I just love how people that spew about Socialism actually have NO clue what Socialism is. I'm not saying that I am for Socialism, but if you are going to bash something, AT LEAST KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DEMOCRACY, SOCIALISM, COMMUNISM & FASCISM!!!! A few Examples: USA = Democracy; Canada, England, Germany, Italy, France, Spain...basically ALL of western Europe = Socialism; China, Vietnam, Cuba, N. Korea = Communism.
Democracies & Socialism ALLOW their citizens to vote!!!
@curtfell There are similarities between socialism and communism. Not all socialists are communists, but all communists are socialists. Can you think of a few similarities between communism, socialism and fascism>?
if you cannot, you are not as smart as you think you are.
@TAMARLANE North Korea and also Serbia under Milosevic come to mind. But what is your point? All successful systems (USA, Canada, western Europe) have some form of Socialism, even our Democracy in the USA (see Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, HCR). There is still a huge difference between a pure Democracy (doesn't exist), Democratic/Socialist system, Socialist system, Communist system & Fascist system. HCR is not a pure Socialist program - govt doesn't own Insurance/Hospitals/Drs.
@curtfell Social security is not a successful system It is a Pnnzi scheme that is now broke. Out of money. Better to have a retirement savings account that matures at retirement. At a minimum a RSA would draw simple interest from a bank much better than Social Security.
No one is arguing for a pure democracy. No one mentioned one, except you.
If government run health care would be better than privately provided health care I would be for it. It isn't and I'm not.
@TAMARLANE Social Security is a successful system and has been for many years. It is not going broke and never will. Of course, SS was always setup to be a supplement for retirement. It was never meant to be the sole income for retirees. Not sure why you state that a govt run health care would not be better than private but everyone is allowed their own opinions. We are not getting rid of private insurance in the US.
@curtfell Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. It just started bringing in less money than it is paying out. 30,000 baby boomers per day are going on social security now. They will soon raise the tax on those still working to pay for those who are no longer working, those on social security. Private insurance is under attack by the government. They know they can't rule the people unless they are dependent on government. Can't promulgate communism is the people are prosperous and employed.
This is rediculously complicated. Come on, DNC. It's the messaging, Stupid! Replacing Ross Perot with an eloquent, smart, good looking woman does not work....
about 11.45% of Americans made minimum wage in 2010. It took approximately 583 people working 40 hours/week, 52 weeks a year, to equal the median pay of $10,000,000 of one healthcare ceo in 2010.
This message is brought to you by the health insurance company lobbyists who wrote the 2000 page bill. Please support Obamacare or we will not donate to Barracks re-election campaign. All your Government belongs to us
The Republicans are threatening to shut down government until they get their way which is making health care unaffordable to Americans and increasing the deficit by over 200 billion dollars. The Constitution says, "We the People" which means all branches of government are decide in a manner that is in the people's benefit and only in the people's benefit. All branches are not doing their job when they benefit only the owners of production. Republicans won last election via distorting the issues.
yea but the health care law kills a lot of the private industry which funds the government. So this does not create jobs that helps the economy but kills ones that do! public and government jobs dont help! so why the hell would you destroy AN ENTIRE PRIVATE INDUSTRY?!!!!
Wall street journal version of the story. "Insurers say the changes won't be free to consumers since plans will have to raise premiums overall to offset the cost of covering these services. The Obama administration estimates that the changes will increase the cost of premiums by an average of 1.5% a year." Well, wait a minute now, who's paying the premiums and who's getting the freebies?
didn't Hawaii and I believe it was Rhode Island, (or one of the east coast states) tried this already and because so many ppl quit their Ins. program and went Free govnt. plan, this FREE failed by over whelming the system
Either Way I'm not gonna sit here and debate about it, so all I can say is hopefully this goes well for all of us in the end. I would be happy knowing the democrats aren't as bad as Fox news makes them out to be haha.
@masterdk29 Proof of what, do you honestly think a bill of this size isn't going to raise taxes? If you want health care so damn much get a job most employers offer it, and if they don't then get a better job. Also what are you talking about my words of wisdom from Google? As if watching a highly biased news channel on TV is any better, the internet is a good way to get information. Whether it's true or not is up to the individual to decide, it's the same for the news you watch on TV or magazine
@VAs0ulja no shit it is going to raise my taxes a bit, but it will help those that need it. and last time i looked around, people are being LAID OFF, not being hired in surplus. so if you have a job, you hold onto it like a starving man
@masterdk29 Ok What did these people in need of healthcare do before? There are several programs and aids to help those in need, this is America after all. and yes i realize people are being laid off, but that's not the reason the health care reform came.
@crateguy 1. Agreed but that doesn't mean you jump on the socialist bandwagon cause they say they'll offer you my piece of bread since you got laid off.
2. Ok well let me rephrase that, people are going to believe what they want simple as that. Anyways the general public believes what CNN and Fox news tells them.
3. What happens if taxes go up more than health care costs go down? Then what we're suppose to just look at this huge failure as an "oops" let's not do that again.
1. Medicine is one of the things an industrialized nation should socialize, the same as police. Health shouldn't be a commodity in an industrialized nation, it should be a privilege of citizenship.
2. agreed.
3. I doubt taxes can even go up that high, consider that while a corporation may have an incentive to keep people sick, a country does not. A large portion of health care costs are thrown to executives. Government workers have capped salaries, insurance execs don't.
Neither side has the solution about how to provide all the health care needed by everyone on a timely basis. One side wants the government to decide how health care is provided. The other side wants anything but government control of our health care.Neither side will provide QUALITY health care for everyone on a timely basis. There isn't enough money in the world to do that. Both sides are lying, but the government health care side is the most dangerous for the American people.
@TAMARLANE Really?, can you explain why most of the democratic nations of the world, The UK, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, etc have had a public system for 50+ years that works very well and that most people are happy with? We all have quality healthcare by anyone's standard, everyone is covered and no one goes broke if they get sick. We pay less % of GDP on healthcare than the US does, yet everyone is covered. Maybe the US is being stooged by corporate interests.
@tubester4567 Am I to take your word for it, that the systems there work very well and the people are happy with them? There is plenty of data out there showing that these systems do not work very well and the people are not very happy with them.
If the quality standard is met, why do so many people come to the US for life saving medical care? I am not here to defend insurance companies, doctors, hospitals, the legal profession, all of whom are brigands, but only to argue against gov't control.
Why do you hate our system of government . Why would you not want the government to pay your bills. That is basicaly what we are trying to do. But the Republicans & Corporations make you afraid of Government control. You guys are so manipulated. Self made men my ass, pull yourself by your own bootstraps, my ass. Blame the Irish, then the blacks, then the Catholics, then the Jewish, then the mexican & now your terrified of the Muslims. Even when shown the facts you refuse to believe that!
@Longie60724 Your comments are misdirected. I am not a republican. I am afraid of government control based on what government control has done, historically, around the world, forever.Nazi Germany. FASCIST italy> iimperial Japan, Soviet Russia , Communist China. All failed socialist experiements. That is what I am afraid of.. By the way, I am a Muslim man.
@TAMARLANE Thats right, you're an ideologue. I've talked with many guys like you and they admit that even if the government/public option was better than the private option, they still dont want it. BTW, i gaurantee no-one from Australia, UK, France, Germany has to travel to the US for "life saving surgery" Also, in my country we have the option of private or public healthcare, people choose what they want, thats true freedom..
@tubester4567 Yeah public systems are great if you have an emergency, as they will make you a priority, however if you require non-urgent care have fun waiting months perhaps even a year for something like a hip replacement. When it comes to this debate I sit on the fence as there are pros and cons to both sides. I personally believe that if the government provides health care services at least allow private companies to compete; giving citizens the freedom of choice.

@matt1987401 you simply misunderstand the scope of the bill. It is government regulation of the insurance industry..not a government take over of healthcare..despite what you have heard.
@tzimtzum1618 You simply misunderstand the scope of this bill. It is government regulation of the insurance industry leading to the government take over of health care.
@hughster41 You are right, no government entitlement program has ever saved us money, so please give up your social security and medicare benefits now so you can help us saving more money. Thank you.
What I enjoyed is how she didn't cover the costs to the Hospitals, clinics or pharmacies to care for people. Costs that the government with social security and medicare/medcaid don't fully cover. Which leads me to believe it will be the same way with this new healthcare bill. Which means all of our hospitals will be bankrupted by this bill and while we the people will be able to afford to go to the hospitals, the hospitals won't be able to afford the costs of caring for us.
@Ferior2047 The cost to Hospitals is significantly less because if more people are covered then the hospital loses less because they have to treat those that are uncovered, and if everyone is covered they don't have to use the emergency room as a primary care giver. It's really not that hard to understand.
You are nice, attractive and did a terrific job speaking about health insurance and its costs. Unfortunately, I don't believe one thing you are trying to sell with your dry eraser board program. Even with the strong close, it's not 'clearly' the way to go but rather clear as mud. To begin, it will always cost more than what the Gov'ment says it will. Really, that should be enough, but it's also inefficient because it will be run by bureaucrats.
I don't understand y the USA made a manadate for everybody to get Health care, wouldn't it be easier if u just tax everybody and give everybody free health care. They r gonna force everybody to get Health care anyways, what is the difference if u just tax everybody depending on income. US health care system seems complicated, I'm Canadian by the way and we get free Health Care.
@superphi I know what kind of health care system Canada has which is similar to Medicare in the US but without the age restriction. Medicare is very popular among seniors here but strangely many Republicans in this country accept the Medicare benefits but critize any government run medicare system as "Socialism" and make people relate it to Soviet Union. It sounds so stupid because we all know Canada is a free market economy and a demorcatic country.
The worst thing is The New and Expanded Secretarial Powers in the Health Reform Law" reveals the ways in which the 2,700-page health reform law grants 1,968 powers to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Your health care decision will be taken out of your hands and your Doctors hand and put into Governments hand. Is that what you want? I don't!
The oath taken elected official to uphold and protect the U.S. Constitution are idle words uttered by hypocrites when their next action is to ignore or seek to destroy an essential element of the Constitution. The Constitution that created the government allowed individual people to create a great nation. Deviation from Constitutional principles diminishes our government and our nation. Strict adherence to those principles provides the self-correcting mechanisms designed by our founders.
Repealing Obamacare automatically saves over $500 billion in new taxes. Those are the prices if you qualify, you have to be a family of four who buys your own insurance. The lowest income will be thrown into medicaid which is the poorest quality care we have where 50% of Doctors do not take medicaid and few hospitals take medicaid. Notice they say w/o any reform. If there were free market reforms the cost could actually go below Obamacare plans for all..
@quizerry Loosing 400,000 jobs? That is just a flat lie. Please explain who is going to loose their job and why if there is no Obamacare? We already know this bill will cost double what the CBO est are. CBO has a bad track record. Remember medicare actual cost was 167% over the est or ten time the est cost. Medicaid actual cost were triple the est in the first 5 years. So please don't lie to the people. The fact is you have no idea what the cost will be. Who are you trying to kid?
@quizerry Former CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin warns that if we account for all the bill's costs, the health-care law adds at least $500 billion to the deficit over the next 10 years and increases the deficit by as much as $1.5 trillion over the decade beyond that.
Repeal, therefore, would yield a tremendous savings.
@quizerry The "consumer protections" come with fine print. Yes, parents can now keep their kids on their insurance until age 26 but it isn't free. The Department of HHS estimates that it will cost $3,380 a year per child and parents themselves will have to pick up the cost.
Similarly, since insurers can no longer refuse coverage to children with preexisting conditions, insurers in Colorado, Ohio and Missouri and others have stopped offering child-only insurance plans. That is limiting choice.
@quizerry Don't forget The ban on annual or lifetime coverage limits? This has proved so onerous that the administration has had to issue 200-plus waivers to prevent companies from dropping employee coverage altogether. That caused one SEIU local in New York to drop coverage for more than 6,000 dependents. Had the HHS not given out waivers over 900,000 employees would have lost their coverage. So already Obamacare is corrupt because it gives special privileges to certain groups.
No govt. program has ever saved any money. Every single govt. program becomes a bloated-out of control mess-that ends up costing taxpayers at least 10x what demonrats said it would. Obunglecrap is already making things worse as 40% of docs said they will end their practices due to govt. intrusion. Also, the damned govt. will dictate if you can even see a low quality doctor. Then, you'll wait months if not years! Too bad for America, we let the best H/C system go down the toilet!
what ever happened to equality? Why should people who make more money pay more than anybody else? (Don't say because they have more money) What you have accomplished with this law is separating everyone into classes and setting them against each other over who should pay how much for healthcare. Having lived in Australia and Hong Kong, where healthcare is government-run, I can tell you that the government will buy the cheapest medical equipment and you will be put on a waiting list, fc/fs
@TheMonsterHawk Actually, healthcare is very efficient in Australia. Also, republicans shouldn't be regarded as people, because they hate most other humans.
The people who cry that repealing the Obamacare bill will be so costly fail to acknowledge two facts--premiums were raised more than ever and it would cost the taxpayers even more to keep the Obamacare bill as it stands. When government intervention occurs, prices rise and quality plummets. One fine example is education--the Dept of Education doubled in size after No Child Left Behind and education is more costly and incompetent than ever.
@madhat ~~> Premiums have been rising just fine by them selves while corporate fat cats get billion dollar bonuses & golden parachutes... The prems have been raising double digits for the last 10 years like every year but 1... Has our pay rose?? Did cost of living go down?? No... Its a money maker just like school... If you got the bucks you get the knowledge... How many schools are firing teachers & doing away with the arts & sports?? Ronald Reagan did away with free ed & were better??
@madhatter0110 "Dept of Education doubled in size ... and education is more costly and incompetent than ever."
That may be true, but that does not prove that the Dept of Education is the cause. Unless you can identify the cause, simple sounding solutions like getting rid of the Dept of Education may not be a smart move. You need to understand the problem before you can fix it.
This may no be the best fix, but it's clear that the private sector hasn't found a solution either.
@henleythecat They have identified the cause. All the money that has been throw at education over the last 30 years has benefited Teachers and Administrators at a cost to kids education. The kids have not benefited at all. We should get rid of the dept of education and leave the education to the state and local districts. They are the only ones who can implement a school choice program that would be driven by parents and student to weed out the bad schools and teachers.
@devilsreject111 ~~> I asked questions about your reads and how to find them... And if your talking bout "My Buddy Jesus", Tell'em I said HIGH... Are you deluional?? I wouldn't want to insight an act of voilence... If you ask the delusional if they are delusional do you get an answer you can trust?? Think on this I must....
She is putting forth the same lies the Democrats have been pushing all along
It's Obamacare that caused the 30 percent increases in premiums last year. and Obamacare that okay's 10 percent increases each year.....a percentage unheard of i the past
If the Senate Democrats block repeal they should all be voted out..
@devilsreject111 ~~> Where do I fine these reads?? Who worte them?? What is up with the 505050 thing in your comments?? Is there something you want to tell me?? Enlighten me... You don't have to call me filth... And what is your deffinition of American??

You people need to just look at one thing. When the HC bill passed the House vote in Nov. 09, insurance stocks rose sharply.
This was all about getting more customers for insurance companies. My premiums went up along with everyone else's, and now small businesses are forced to pay part of their employees HC insurance. This is a job killer and a economy buster!

The facts show, based on history, that government-run programs are passed based on good intentions but the actual results of the programs show an entirely different reality. Service levels go down, costs go up, and the program eventually becomes heavily indebted. Look at the results of ANY government program. Social Security? Bankrupt. Medicare? Bankrupt. Plus, the government can't create productive jobs. This woman is delusional, along with democrats and republicans.

The insurance industry is an industry just like any other. As an industry, it is squarely in the crosshairs of the Obama Administration. (for all the dimwitted Liberals please note that the term "crosshairs" is being used metaphorically) No industry is safe from these fascists. Once he leaves office Mr. Obama and his ilk will have more personal wealth than God. It's not the money that motivates them, it's the power. The power of the state and control for the ruling class. Pure and simple.
@philh37 You need to look up the word fascist. You need to learn your history. Fascism is when corporations control the government, which is what you advocate and what liberals fight against. Fascism is a far right concept, not a liberal one.
@lemonnne Actually I have looked up the word fascist and the defining characteristics are athoritarian, contempt for democracy and by extension the constitution and and insistence on obedience to the ruling class, the state if you will. You can view fascism through a right wing / left wing prism if you want, but to my mind fascism has more about absolute power by a ruling class.
@philh37 ~~> Actually Facisim is a dictatorship that exalts nation and race... Kinda like these corps who tell you are soo great and if the gov tries to regulate them it would be the most horrible thing ever because they are the best...
Respond to this video... Fascism is not about corporation controlling the government, but exactly the opposite. Mussolini used to brag about making the trains run on time.
@philh37 ~~> More personal wealth then the dark loard dick vader... I think not... Do you think any of these "industries" care about WE THE PEOPLE??

So now they won't have any excuse for not paying and getting FREE healthcare.
bluefootedpig 1 year ago
now, it has been awhile since i took calculus, but shouldn't it be that the area above the line we pay now, should equal the area below the line? To show that the overall cost is the same? I don't think you can just have everyone under the line, unless there is something signifcantly missing.

The Democrats don't have an answer for this.

Democracies & Socialism ALLOW their citizens to vote!!!
curtfell 1 year ago
@curtfell There are similarities between socialism and communism. Not all socialists are communists, but all communists are socialists. Can you think of a few similarities between communism, socialism and fascism>?
if you cannot, you are not as smart as you think you are.
TAMARLANE 1 year ago
@TAMARLANE North Korea and also Serbia under Milosevic come to mind. But what is your point? All successful systems (USA, Canada, western Europe) have some form of Socialism, even our Democracy in the USA (see Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, HCR). There is still a huge difference between a pure Democracy (doesn't exist), Democratic/Socialist system, Socialist system, Communist system & Fascist system. HCR is not a pure Socialist program - govt doesn't own Insurance/Hospitals/Drs.
curtfell 1 year ago
@curtfell Social security is not a successful system It is a Pnnzi scheme that is now broke. Out of money. Better to have a retirement savings account that matures at retirement. At a minimum a RSA would draw simple interest from a bank much better than Social Security.
No one is arguing for a pure democracy. No one mentioned one, except you.
If government run health care would be better than privately provided health care I would be for it. It isn't and I'm not.
TAMARLANE 1 year ago
@TAMARLANE Social Security is a successful system and has been for many years. It is not going broke and never will. Of course, SS was always setup to be a supplement for retirement. It was never meant to be the sole income for retirees. Not sure why you state that a govt run health care would not be better than private but everyone is allowed their own opinions. We are not getting rid of private insurance in the US.
curtfell 1 year ago
@curtfell Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. It just started bringing in less money than it is paying out. 30,000 baby boomers per day are going on social security now. They will soon raise the tax on those still working to pay for those who are no longer working, those on social security. Private insurance is under attack by the government. They know they can't rule the people unless they are dependent on government. Can't promulgate communism is the people are prosperous and employed.

VAs0ulja 1 year ago
@VAs0ulja no shit it is going to raise my taxes a bit, but it will help those that need it. and last time i looked around, people are being LAID OFF, not being hired in surplus. so if you have a job, you hold onto it like a starving man
masterdk29 1 year ago
@masterdk29 Ok What did these people in need of healthcare do before? There are several programs and aids to help those in need, this is America after all. and yes i realize people are being laid off, but that's not the reason the health care reform came.
VAs0ulja 1 year ago
@VAs0ulja 3 things,
1. People can't just "get better jobs." We are in a recession, jobs are scarce.
2. Truth is not decided by the individual, but by reality. You can't simply decide something is true, there have to be facts and evidence behind it.
3. Taxes may go up, but if health care costs go down there will be balance.
crateguy 1 year ago
@crateguy 1. Agreed but that doesn't mean you jump on the socialist bandwagon cause they say they'll offer you my piece of bread since you got laid off.
2. Ok well let me rephrase that, people are going to believe what they want simple as that. Anyways the general public believes what CNN and Fox news tells them.
3. What happens if taxes go up more than health care costs go down? Then what we're suppose to just look at this huge failure as an "oops" let's not do that again.
VAs0ulja 1 year ago
@VAs0ulja
Government workers have capped salaries, insurance execs don't.
crateguy 1 year ago

Both sides are lying, but the government health care side is the most dangerous for the American people.
TAMARLANE 1 year ago
@TAMARLANE Really?, can you explain why most of the democratic nations of the world, The UK, France, Germany, Canada, Australia, etc have had a public system for 50+ years that works very well and that most people are happy with? We all have quality healthcare by anyone's standard, everyone is covered and no one goes broke if they get sick. We pay less % of GDP on healthcare than the US does, yet everyone is covered. Maybe the US is being stooged by corporate interests.
tubester4567 1 year ago
@tubester4567 Am I to take your word for it, that the systems there work very well and the people are happy with them? There is plenty of data out there showing that these systems do not work very well and the people are not very happy with them.

I personally believe that if the government provides health care services at least allow private companies to compete; giving citizens the freedom of choice.

Ferior2047 1 year ago
@Ferior2047 The cost to Hospitals is significantly less because if more people are covered then the hospital loses less because they have to treat those that are uncovered, and if everyone is covered they don't have to use the emergency room as a primary care giver. It's really not that hard to understand.

The lowest income will be thrown into medicaid which is the poorest quality care we have where 50% of Doctors do not take medicaid and few hospitals take medicaid. Notice they say w/o any reform. If there were free market reforms the cost could actually go below Obamacare plans for all..
quizerry 1 year ago
@quizerry Loosing 400,000 jobs? That is just a flat lie. Please explain who is going to loose their job and why if there is no Obamacare? We already know this bill will cost double what the CBO est are. CBO has a bad track record. Remember medicare actual cost was 167% over the est or ten time the est cost. Medicaid actual cost were triple the est in the first 5 years. So please don't lie to the people. The fact is you have no idea what the cost will be. Who are you trying to kid?
quizerry 1 year ago
@quizerry Former CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin warns that if we account for all the bill's costs, the health-care law adds at least $500 billion to the deficit over the next 10 years and increases the deficit by as much as $1.5 trillion over the decade beyond that.
Repeal, therefore, would yield a tremendous savings.
quizerry 1 year ago
@quizerry The "consumer protections" come with fine print. Yes, parents can now keep their kids on their insurance until age 26 but it isn't free. The Department of HHS estimates that it will cost $3,380 a year per child and parents themselves will have to pick up the cost.
Similarly, since insurers can no longer refuse coverage to children with preexisting conditions, insurers in Colorado, Ohio and Missouri and others have stopped offering child-only insurance plans. That is limiting choice.
quizerry 1 year ago

ObowMao666 1 year ago
what ever happened to equality?

One fine example is education--the Dept of Education doubled in size after No Child Left Behind and education is more costly and incompetent than ever.
madhatter0110 1 year ago
@madhat ~~> Premiums have been rising just fine by them selves while corporate fat cats get billion dollar bonuses & golden parachutes... The prems have been raising double digits for the last 10 years like every year but 1... Has our pay rose?? Did cost of living go down?? No... Its a money maker just like school... If you got the bucks you get the knowledge... How many schools are firing teachers & doing away with the arts & sports?? Ronald Reagan did away with free ed & were better??
sparkyj99 1 year ago
@madhatter0110 "Dept of Education doubled in size ... and education is more costly and incompetent than ever."
That may be true, but that does not prove that the Dept of Education is the cause. Unless you can identify the cause, simple sounding solutions like getting rid of the Dept of Education may not be a smart move. You need to understand the problem before you can fix it.
This may no be the best fix, but it's clear that the private sector hasn't found a solution either.
henleythecat 1 year ago
@henleythecat They have identified the cause. All the money that has been throw at education over the last 30 years has benefited Teachers and Administrators at a cost to kids education. The kids have not benefited at all. We should get rid of the dept of education and leave the education to the state and local districts. They are the only ones who can implement a school choice program that would be driven by parents and student to weed out the bad schools and teachers.

@quizerry "They have identified the cause."
OK, I can accept that that might be the case.
One question... who is "They"?

It's Obamacare that caused the 30 percent increases in premiums last year. and Obamacare that okay's 10 percent increases each year.....a percentage unheard of i the past
If the Senate Democrats block repeal they should all be voted out..

THIS IS ALL THEORY

Pure and simple.
philh37 1 year ago
@philh37 You need to look up the word fascist. You need to learn your history. Fascism is when corporations control the government, which is what you advocate and what liberals fight against. Fascism is a far right concept, not a liberal one.
lemonnne 1 year ago
@lemonnne Actually I have looked up the word fascist and the defining characteristics are athoritarian, contempt for democracy and by extension the constitution and and insistence on obedience to the ruling class, the state if you will. You can view fascism through a right wing / left wing prism if you want, but to my mind fascism has more about absolute power by a ruling class.
