This bike (my FAV Triumph/British bike) sounds sort of like a 2-stroke meeting a 4-stroke when you give it a high amount of gas (petrol as the Aussies and Brits call it). It's bloody cool!!
this is the nicest modern bike triumph have made, but i love my Ducati to much to go back to an IL4. Am going around Europe thi ssummer though and this road is on my to do list!
I tried a street triple 675 last february and it had a great sound but this motorbike has a very very bad sound... Has it got an another exaust??? anyway great video and driver!
And for all those saying that you shouldn't ride through the middle of the road? Well, you can go through life fearing death or you can go through life tempting it. One is safe and the other is a hell of a lot of fun. I've made my pick.
yes mate, i am an aussie. :) funnest thing i ever did in switzerland.
Hiring the bike was dead easy. went to a shop in Zurich, how much (approx SF140 a day). one form and a credit card. Gave me a helmet and gloves and stored my bicycle. see you in 5 days.
just two notes of caution:
swiss police are very intolerant of speeding. Large fines and confiscation can happen.
mountain roads are awesome, but demand respect. on the shady side road can be wet with big cliff faces.
I have the 08 675 and the whine isnt nearly as noticeable when you actually riding it. This camera was definitely picking up on it a lot more than what the reality is.
I hear you have that little sqeak coming from the front air intake. Remove the wind sheild and you can get to the actuator which is causing the sound. Put some grease around the shaft, it stopped mine !
3rd: I may not speak "perfect" german, swiss-german or austria-german, but I DO speak fluent Portuguese and Spanish and guess what? I still RIDE a motorcycle.

The whirring engine sound is normal for these triples and just amplified by the fairing, with the cam sitting low and well protected from the wind... It sounds so beautiful, and the throaty growl at 9-10000 rpm and at about half of that is just amazing, as is the power rush at 12000+! What a bike, what a ride! Thanks helrado. I hope they make the rumoured Tiger Cub 675...
Nice bike, nice road, pretty good rider -not one of those loony speeders who try to ride on the left line everytime ;)- and the image quality is quite nice too!
It must be a microphone setup problem, but the whistling of the primary transmission is especially aggressive at low speed, isn't it?
P.S. What a shame at the beginning of your trip... next time, wait for the fuel pomp to be completely loaded ^^
Sounds like your engine is on song! Great vid. reminds me of when i was there 2 years ago and travelled this road on my bandit 1200. thanks for the memories.
Amazing bike, great riding. Fantastic scenery. What I really like about this video is the fact you haven't put rubbish music over the top of the sweet 675 triple! That engine is music!
hey man sweet bike..but does it always whistle like that? it annoyed me in the vid id hate to buy one and find out it was louder in rl...does it have a slipper clutch?
Hi, with a helmet on and the sound of the exhaust, i never noticed till i ran the video. The vidoe was on the tank so this may have picked it up loader than rl. i think it is from the injectors or inlets.
first of all, thanks for not adding a death-metal/rock song as a background track to the video! :) I've been trying to find a video of the T675 to listen to the engine sound.. yours helps a lot!! thanks much! q: do you know if the seat height is adjustable? the 32.5inch might be just a inch or two high for me to flatfoot. :(
cheers for letting us experience the swiss alps on a triumph dude : ), v cool vid, one of the coolest bike vids i've seen on youtube. and that comment on sticking within the white lines is pure bullshit, when there is evidently absolutely no traffic round the bend its perfectly fine to straighten out the corners a bit, just allows you to get a better line, once again cool vid.

Riding a motorcycle in itself, is a risk. I agree 100%. if it had no risk, i would have hired a Mercedes Coupe..:)

Helrado. I agree I was sarcastic in my comment and am unreservedly sorry for offence caused.
I do contend that, in comments on part 2 of this video, you talk about being a bit shaky and were suffering a bit with sore wrists. Maybe this explains my observations which, by the way you have not commented upon. You may be an accomplished rider but plenty of accomplished riders (read GP / WSB) make mistakes - why should you be any different?
I agree, riding motorcycles is inherently dangerous.
the only difference i can make, is those guys (GP/WSB)are riding on absolute limits of their machines, all the time. i was having a sunday cruise in comparison.
Man. You seriously need to practice riding. You crossed the centre line accidentally so many times and you were just lucky that no car was coming the other way. Is there a riding school near you? Consider taking a course!
Dude. Watch the video again. The camera is tank mounted. The camera is on the wrong side of the road. Where does that place his wheels? Or his head? The re-evaluate whether I'm an idiot or not. Oh, and smile :)
ok first off sorry for the idiot thing i didnt proof read it and came off a lot harsher than i meant so im sorry but anyway - im not debating whether he was on the wrong side of the road im saying that he could clearly see around the corners so he can use the road because he knows theres nothing coming admittedly after a second review he does do it on some blind corners which is pretty dam dangerous especially at high speed ooo side note - my god that bike sounds good
Yeah perhaps your right. 27 years riding bikes, 4 years of racing motorcross and 3 years of production bike racing i guess i could do with a 2 day course on how to keep within the lines. Can you suggest a weekend course?
yeah i think riding this was a bit safer than the cars of the 80's. The sound is fantastic to hear it roar around redline, still gives me a thrill to look back on the ride.
One cuestion please, and sorry for my english (i´m spanish XD), my height is 1,73 metre, this bike will be too tall for a person with my height?a seat height is too tall for me? i love this bike, the sound, the way of give the power( 3 cylindres..) but i don´t know if this bike will be too big for me. Thanks Helrado!
i am 175 cm tall and i had no trouble, the seat is very narrow so its easy to stand flat foot on the ground. height is an issue, but only when stopped. :)
as for the ride, i agree 3 cylinders makes gret power and the handling is very sharp. i would recommend it..
Thanks for your quickly response. I needed a dictionary for understood some words but finally i can´t do it ;P. i love this bike, the 600 cc and 4 cylindres are more radical in her drive and i will use the bike not only weekends, else everything i´ll do. Thanks and we will saw in some road for europe!! Adios!!
I have a yellow 675 and it rides so easily! The handling is great, the sound too, the brakes are good, the motor is powerful already with low refs and nice to ride! Just one little remark about the video: First u showed the "Furkapass"-Street (filmed from "Glescht"), but u rode up the "Grimselpass"-Street (from "Glescht"... I must say, the road is about the same, so ... :-)The passes are just nice to ride, especially with the Daytona 675 :-)Greets from Switzerland ;-)
Your right about the roads, i could not get a good angle of the grimsel, so i used Furka instead. I ended up riding all the passes in this area and the ride up and over grimsel was the highlight for me.
Bike handles really well. Steering dampener helps with head shakes. Needless to say this bike surpasses my ability but it inspired me give it a dig at times.

I'm looking at getting one of these in a couple of weeks. Think a good modification might be raised handlebars (there's a couple of companies that make some) to take the weight off the wrists. What was your setup for camera might I ask?
Raised handlebars sounds like a great idea. this was the only neg i could think of on the ride.

wveloso 5 years ago
When you first turn on the key, it checks the fuel injectors, tacho, and on board computer, when downshifting to first gear it gave the whine.
Is this the high freg sound you mention?
helrado 5 years ago
No, I was talking about the high freq noise during all ride.
wveloso 5 years ago
not sure, but was thinking:
could be whistle of air intakes, they are located near headlights and the microphone points this way.
Wind noise, microphone had no cover over it, so very sensitive.
Could be induced in the conversion through software.
All i could hear was the sound of this fab triple.
