I was confirmed last easter and am learning about this lovely Saint. Thanks for the upload. Did Bernadette say "For those who believe in God, no explanation is necessary.
For those who do not believe in God, no explanation is possible." or was it something the creators of the movie Song of Bernadette wrote?
Jesus said John 20:29: Jesus said to Thomas: "Do you believe because you see me? How happy are those who believe without seeing me!" Who are we to question the Lord and His power?are you greater than Him that you know that this is not a real miracle?if we are all like this, how sad and angry would Jesus be.
@Yahweigh Her death occurred in 1879. At the exhumation 46 years after death. the doctor commented. "What struck me during this examination, of course, was the state of perfect preservation of the skeleton, the fibrous tissues of the muscles (still supple and firm), of the ligaments, and of the skin, and above all the totally unexpected state of the liver after 46 years.' Wax imprints were only placed over the face and hands in 1925 at the time of canonisation, with still no decomposition.
@Yahweigh ..HER BODY WAS WASHED , THE SOAP THEY USED LEFT MARKS ON HER BODY ,TO COVER THE MARKS UP THEY USED A LITTLE BIT OF WAX ON HER HANDS AND FACE ...TRUELY A WORK OF GOD ...PRAISE HIM
I have a suggestion, take the body outdoors into a harsh humid environment thats thriving with bacteria (such as a jungle). If its a miracle then theres nothing to worry about and it will prevail but if not then it was being protected in a natural way.
@Yahweigh The definition of a miracle: 'An event that appears inexplicable by the laws of nature and so is held to be supernatural in origin or an act of God.' As I understand it the incorrupt body meets this criteria, no one is suggesting the body would remain incorrupt under any or all circumstances. Thanks for your comments.
u all so sure the whole thing isn't fake? could it be a wax 'body'? I mean the catholic organization is well documented as a masterful propaganda group. Like the farcs surrounding the so-called holy water fiasco w w w neatorama com/2007/02/14/coin-operated-holy-water-dispensing-machine/
(please add the relevant 'dots', as it won't allow me to)
I agree. There will always be those who use fakery, this makes investigation all the more essential. In this case the post mortem was performed by medical doctors and witnessed by local government officials who made sworn oaths to the fact that the body remained incorrupt. Thanks for your comments.

She lived the kind of life that God/Jesus desired & we know that she was a True Saint --- she is like the Sun - giving us LIGHT to believe in God's Mercy. She was a True Disciple of Jesus & the Blessed Mother Mary.
False prophets can also perform miracles. The Satan and the demons support them. I do not think Christianity teaches the same thing Jesus was teaching.
It is likely that demons protect these bodies for there to be more Christian on seeing such miracles.
Any Miracles are for the weak in faith. In fact, Jesus called those who asked for miracles "serpents".
Believing in holiness of these men and seeking cure beside their burial places is a kind of blasphemy. Do you not ask for cure from the God?
I'm pray to Saint Bernadette and hold a bottle of holy water at my side. I have a illness called "Acute Trans-tracheal Pulmonary Fibrosis"! I someday will need a lung transplant. I ask for prayers from the sisters and our beloved Saint Bernadette.
It is truly incredible that we can look at such a perfect body which died in 1879. The light coating of wax was used merely to hide the darkening of skin. A human body 131 years dead would be normally completely disintegrated. The full story of Bernadette is one of the most powerful cases for divinity.
@Mrgyn Thank you for your comments. The body has not in fact decayed, following the exhumation the body was washed, this caused a slight discolouration to the face and hands; a light coating of wax was therefore applied. Best wishes.
With miracles such as this one, why is there such non-belief among many? And if God has graced Roman Catholics with such wonderful signs, why is there any doubt at all that the Holy Roman Catholic Church is the one, true church? Our Lady of Fatima is another verified miracle that should inspire the faith. I mean, are there other, well-documented miracles in Protestantism or Islam?
@botwindfish We don't need such miracles to believe. I am now a Muslim and I found Islam through Christianity. Only comparing these two (actually 3 with Judaism) allowed me to understand the cleanness of Islam and perfection of the concept of God. There are no contradictions in Islam we find in Christianity.
I saw some intact bodies of Muslim (shahids), but to me this is normal. I do not use this as argument or proof that Islam is the right religion. As I see, Christians have the same things.
At the second, and I believe last exhumation The body was washed and noted to be turning a dark color. It was decided to have the face and hands coated with a mortuary type wax to preserve the life like color. Read Francois Trochu's book on St. Bernadette.
It's really a great miracle, first feast of our lady of all st mary to the human. I am sure she was and is a holy lady. Great blessing to all christian and to France...
it looks like wax!! seriously! I'm Catholic, and some bodies look real, but this looks wax, and how come a Saint has well done eyebrows?? and shiny fingernails?
In reply, the appearance of the body is exactly as in life, that is the point. I have personally visited and can vouch for this.
The body is presented to look it's best I agree, however the fact remains that medical records authenticate that it is incorrupt. Thank you for your interest.
Thankyou for this wonderful summary of the apparitions of Lourdes, and the proofs of multiple miracles, especially of Bernadette's incorrupt body. It takes a lot of work to assemble the video and the commentary, and present them in a succinct and convincing format.
Act 2: 29- Brothers, I can speak confidently to you about our father David. He died and was buried, and his grave is in our midst to this day.....Acts 2: 31- He said that he was not abondoned to the nether world, nor did his body undergo corruption, thus proclaiming beforehand the resurrection of the Messiah. Bernadette lived in Christ, died in Christ, and has risen in Christ. Her incorrupt body is outward sign from God.
her body lies there but her face was partly decomposed when it was rehesumated so that they had to rebuilt her face by placing a wax mask over her skull the church applied the sameprecedure with with padre pio..check the wikipaedia
