No offense taken. There are countless other families out there whose children have seizures and don't know what they are. This video and others you might find are helpful for us to compare and learn from each other. This was the worst seizure she has ever had. It lasted at least 45 minutes (counting from when we found her) before any medication took effect.
I recorded while we waited for the EMS to arrive. We also record these things to show the doctors (if necessary), as well as to share with other families as a form of education.
Why In The World Did You Record It Instead Of Doing Something Immediately. Was It For Educational Purposes Or Something Because In A State Of Emergency Like That Medical Attention Is Necessary.
Just curious if your baby does as mine does. When he has one, they don't go away even after the diastat acudial. They do soften up a bit but they last for hours which usually ends up in a hospital stay but his heart races so fast I cant count the beats per minute and his breathing is very shallow and sometimes needs stimulation..
@prittyblueeyegirl No, the diastat works really well on Emma. We've been told she's on a really high dose for a child her size. You could ask if a higher dose would be appropriate. Hours is too long and I would definitely head to the ER if it doesn't stop after 20 minutes.
@silverdragoncub yes, The Dr. said to wait 5 minutes. If the seizure does not stop to call 911. We found out that the Trileptol he was on to control his Epilepsy was the cause for his most severe seizures. They made his sodium level too low. So he was on a water restriction for a while and that didn't seem to help a whole lot. We've since switched to Kepra. It doesn't seem to be right for him. Though the prolonged seizures arent apparent right now, lots of absent and tremors. Well GL!

sendz a prayer and gentle hug . i was diagnosed with Epilepsy in May 2010 . I have grand mal , complex partial . and starting in Jan 2011 i also starting having absence seizures. i'm 24 year old female . i just wanted to let you know that your not alone . after my seizures i get a bad headache that brings me to tears .
If your child is having a tonic clonic seizure,or grand mal that best thing to due is be sure they are lying flat on their back on a safe surface like their bed or the floor with a pillow under their head and do NOT restrain them or put anything in their mouth.they will not swallow their tongue. Now they might bite it unfortunately. If the seizure lasts for more then five minutes or the childs color changes or they stop breathing call an ambulance right away
This looks like a type of seizure known as Jacksonian to me.I am an RN and a mother of a now grown woman who suffered terribly with every type except Jacksonian which I have seen in the ED which I worked in for years.Just a suggestion could be wrong
My daughter has these seizures and has been diagnosed with dravet syndrome. They are called hemiclonic because they involve one side of the body. They are generalised seizures though. You can get onto info about these through the idealeague. Hope you can find some answers there.
My 3 year old had one like this that lasted about 5 mintues and her arm went paralized for about 10 minutes and they diagnosed her with eppilepsy she has been keppra for 7 month now and is just now having smaller one agian.
Edgar Casey said sezures start in the digestive system. Odd! We are now against all medical system after 2 different 5 day stays in hospital for seizures. Celiac disease was one thing we found for our family to be one cause. Lots of people out there are putting blame on Monsanto and now that they are buying up glutten free products and seizure meds we are thinking the same. Eat local organic if you can. Hope you can look into some of these things. Peace
@barbiewannabenot no, this could close off the airway more, turning them onto their side is the best, gravity wont force the tongue back in this position, and trying to hold them upright, especially when older, can be difficult and dangerous.
My child is having very similar episodes, how does emma act after?? The doctors who have seen alex are unsure of the cause as he is well and active after.

This breaks my heart. Especially with a young child because you cannot ask them how they feel or how you can help.
And yet we still have people fighting health care for all, because of money..........
