I remember watching this late at night too, and I too remember Channel 4 mucking around with the scheduling for some reason, shame it's not released on DVD but it's like most old manga...wish they'd release them on DVD in region 0 and not just NTSC! It's sooooooooooo annoying... there's so much manga I'd buy if it was!
I remember this was on about 1 or 2 o'clock in the morning on Saturday night. I would set the video recorder every week and watch it the next day. After the first 6 episodes, Channel 4 stopped showing them for a while. When it returned for the final 6 episodes, i had no idea it was on again and missed them. I was so gutted.
This manga will always be part of my childhood even though i didn't see the second half of it. The intro music is still awesome and makes me feel like i'm 14 again.
I remember as a young boy staying up really late to watch manga on 4.. one morning I mentioned to my mum at the time if she would buy me this for my birthday on VHS She came back with 1 tape in the middle of the season.. I remember saying that I was gutted but grateful.. she then went and got the rest of the series and I still own and proudly keep them safe! :)
Love the intro music, definitely brings feelings of such childhood nostalgia, miss them days of staying up way late to watch channel 4's late license manga :)
On top of this, I saw 3 x 3 eyes, Battle Angel Alita (the original version, not the crappy one), and Cyber City OEDO 808 (also has awesome intro music).
@colinjg1971 They also showed Cyber City OEDO 808, Doomed Megalopolis, The Heroic Legend of Arislan and 3x3 Eyes. Probably a couple more too, but those are the ones I remember.
i remember watching this anime as a kid every saturday at round 12 on late license which came on channel 4 they showed some of most awesome animes ever made.
Bloody Hell, been wanting this since I 1st saw it, it was on in the summer of 1996 on Channel 4 though I missed a few episodes as it was on like 2.30am in the morning
OMFG, i LOVED this show! First introduction to Manga, thank you old Channel 4 in the 1990s! And thank you for putting up the UK dub, it's so much better than the US copies I have.
i love this series so much, remember copying the theme tune from the tv onto a tape cassette and then copying it over and over again so i had a full tape of the theme tune lol, was lucky to find the first tape in a shop the other day was so excited i dropped a can of coke i was holding lol
I remember bits of it like the theme tune from around being 9, but watching it with my dad and sister, (who I am now estranged from) I was completely hooked! It is still my most favaroute series today, and I havent found anything I love more then this!!
It's so great to see it again-it brings back so many good memories and the love I have for this series-I wish I could get it on DVD!! Thank you so much for posting this, YOU ARE A LEGEND and have made me so happy!! :)
My dad recorded this from the TV in the early nineties, when I was only young. It was shown on Channel Four at about 1am, and because I was only about 5 I wasnt allowed to watch TV that late.
Years later at about 12-13? I really got into Manga (I love the 80's and early 90's stuff, nothing after that period really appeals to me) and my dad was clearing stuff out, and was going through his old recorded videos, when he came across this series he had completely forgotton about! I
thankfully i managed to buy all the videos, which i still have, but also had them transfered to dvd as well
