  • Why the fuck would you install windows on FAT32?

  • @OneThousand98 because that is windows's file system

  • @K1llerEel No, windows' file system is NTFS and has been since 2001 The last OS to use it was Windows 98. formatting your HDD to FAT32 is so dumb.

  • who let you out of ur nerdery

  • you can choose any file system that will boot windows. Because Mac OS X will not touch the partition from now on unless you open its mount on your desktop, or if you tell Mac OS X that you want to destroy the partition. Therefore @PHIXION23 's comment is right, however, you don't have to set it to NTFS Full. But, i strongly recommend you advise that you allow windows to change the file system.

  • hey what kind of your mac my is powermac g5 i bought it from an other guy i am not sure that it is a intel base or not the think is i can not fing the bootcamp in it so do i have to download it some where and instal it, i want to instal windows in it

    thanks

  • @sxayaxang you cannot run boot camp on a power pc g5 processor

  • thanx for this. It really helped. I almost screwed myself over~

  • My dad didn't even pay attention to that before I found the video, and he had to completely reinstall Mac OS X.

  • y dont microsoft and mac team up together they would ake some crazy shit then

  • @EcHoVidz Because monopolies never work... they would have no competition and the prices would skyrocket....

  • fat32 .. fail^^

  • Got it Partition 1, Always

  • mine doesn't have "(BOOTCAMP)" next to it, It just says 'C' drive and Partition 1. I've partitioned 32GB and it says the partition is 131075MB... I'm confused

  • @flilight did you do 132 GB by accedent?

  • what the f*** is BootCamp? I've never seen such a thing.

  • i have lost my cd for my laptop. What can i do?

  • Its already formated with fat32 so you don't need to format again... and leave the current file system.. but Usually you want to format it in fat32.. if you want it to function right..

  • Dude Macs are the best!! People who disagree are jealous cause they cant afford them!! MACS FOREVER!

  • MACS FOREVER :D

  • Ok... I was enjoying this video. Simply because I like the fact that Apple and Microsoft are getting along enough to allow their software on the same computer as their competition.

However, after reading your comment I feel inclined to ask. If Macs are so great.. then why are people installing Windows..... a... *gasp* do I dare say it?.... PC operating system. :P

  • @Magnuspire MACs are good and easy to use compared to a normal PC OS but, for me, the only reason i am looking at making a small part of my MAC XP is because of games, they are not designed to be played on MACs,. it could also be you want a piece of software that you cant use on your MAC but your MAC also has something extra you want

Its called having the best of both worlds.

  • need help please: i bought music from the itunes store on my windows partition but i wana move it to my os x itunes nd i dno if its possible but if it is plz can someone tell me how.

  • restart ur mac and while ur pressing the power button, hold the trackpad button

  • pc = personal computer. macs are personal computers they do compute things. therefore mac's are pc's.

  • @blankpianist I own an iMac, and I totally agree with you.

  • i need a little help.. i deleted the windows xp partition cause i got vista.. now when i try to make a new partition it wont make one... it says i have to reformat drive to mac os x journaled. but the problem is i dont have a second mac or a external hard drive... any suggestions? and i updated my mac to 10.5.7 and it was originally 10.5.4 so i cant reinstall it with the disk it came with, and also there is no apple store where i live..

  • Try backing up your computer with Time Machine, and after that is done, Restart your computer and that should work. If it doenst let me know and i will take you through the steps

  • sako wuea

  • ahahaha mi fa ridereeeeeeeeeee

  • thank men for the upload it's help

  • I don't mean to start an argument here and all but why use fat? Ntfs is better.

  • apple doesnt have lisence to use ntfs stuff its a microsoft thing just like how windows cant use apples hfs+

  • i did this the first time round. Doh!

  • macpac22: Fucking did it now.

thought fuck. a 6k mac. is fucked lol.

    thank GOD/

    THANK U CHRIS !!!

  • hey, you have to format it on ntfs.

ntfs has more space an it's faster then fat32

  • True, but if it's FAT32, then I believe MAC OSX can read/write to it.

  • But i'm not a MAC user so NTFS works fine for me. :) I have however gone back to FAT32 for my flash drives (instead on NTFS) because my PS3 won't read NTFS. :(

  • you know linux has the ability to read ntfs you would figure since it is open source they could intergrate that in to mac OS being that it is bsd based.

  • where do you get a windows cd.....

    to install bootcamp??

    Please respond asap !

  • torrent

  • bestbuy, staples, newegg, etc.....piratebay

  • **THIS IS WRONG**

Where he says "Leave the current file system intact" at 1:48, you have to go with "Format the partition with NTSF FULL". If you do not do this it will not boot right.

  • Yur right i tried it did not work !!!

Format the partition with NTSF FULL

  • @PHIXI0N23 the instruction manual says "do not leave current file system intact" but any of the other options r fine (depending wat the circumstances are soldierknowsbest does a very good video on witch is right for you)

  • @PHIXI0N23 You are correct. The boot camp instillation guide recommends a reformat to either FAT 32 of NTFS. FAT32 works with Mac OS X, NTFS goes a little faster.

  • i am doing this tomorrow and am very very very very very scared of fucking up my hard drive

  • hi, i can get blue installation guide for windows xp when i restart my imac using boot camp, but when i choose wich hard drive partition to use, i cannot find the one i created using boot camp (32gb). why can't i see the partition i just made? is it because i am trying to install windows xp service pack1?

(it says version 2002 on the disc) please help!!!!

  • It has to be at least service pack 2 but you can make a boot up disk with SP2 and your windows cd. go to google and type in (Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Create Bootable CD). Its some what hard but good luck.

  • Hey ,

I don't get the blue screen for formatting after the first blue screen where you must choose part 3 bootcamp fat 32

    thnx

  • OMFG NTFS IS WAY BETTER THEN FAT32

  • your right, apple made a mistake in the bootcamp everyone should click NTFS or they will get the famous Disk error i had for ever.

  • very very very very very very very very usefull advice :)

  • Hey, I've done that mess-up thing before!

  • thanks chris

  • nothing will happen if you delete an unknown partition? or will it? its not EISA

  • Hey... I have a regular macbook (black 160 GB). I partitioned my hard drive and when i put my windows install disk in, it loads everything necessary for windows. It tells me to press the Enter key to start the Windows setup. When I do this, my macbook's keyboard doesn't respond...

Can someone please give me feedback!?!?!?!

  • the boot camp instructions say not to choose"leave the current file system intact" but to choose FAT or NTFS according to the size of ur partition

  • Windows XP displays "Disk Error" message during initial setup, what did I do wrong?? .in apples page >> Important: Do not use the option named "Leave the current file system intact (no changes)".

  • I have a simple little question here. Im trying to use boot camp to install windows. I went through all the steps correctly I think. I selected "leave the current file system intact" It notifies me that the setup will continue after the system reboots. I let it reboot, and then it says press any key to boot from cd, if I choose this, it runs through the setup again. If I wait it says disk error press any key to continue. when I press a key nothing happens. id love some help

    thanks

  • Hey man I have the same exact problem myself. I have been trying to figure out for the past while now without finding any answers. Please any help from anyone would be amazing!

  • ME TOO...the same dam screen is showing up for me

  • I figured it out. It says that that will happen on occasion and when it does, this is what you have to do: Re-install if from the CD, this time choosing NOT the leave as is, yet the full format in NTFS or FAT32 (depending on if you want OSX to see and have access to the files on that partition). After this it will work fine. I did 3 after finding that out with no probs. So I imagine that that will solve your problems. Cheers and best to ya :]

  • You can only install windows properly if you format it during the windows installation

  • you do that you'll be sorry ^^

  • there are about 5 things wrong with your sentence

  • you think dropping a bunch of f-bombs makes you cool? think again..

  • I may actually use Boot Camp eventually if Final Fantasy XI doesn't see a Mac release, so thanks for the tip Chris

  • A Mac an only be a 'PC' when it is an Intel based Mac. You can't just go out and buy a Mac and slap Winblows on it.

  • "A Mac 'can' be a PC", well then what is it? lol

  • if your new to the world..there IS a difference between Mac and PC, yes they are both computers but a mac is not a pc

  • A Mac is a Personal Computer, an Apple xserve isn't.

Yes there is a difference between an unlimited OS Mac PC and a Cloner PC, but that doesn't mean a Mac is not a Personal Computer. As many have said, Apple started the PC industry, not including the Xerox Alto(which even Xerox doesn't count).

  • thanks

  • Did that actually work with that last step? I read through the manual and it stated in bold that you had to chose to reformat as FAT32 again. Or NTFS if you don't want to easily transfer files inside of osx to your bootcamp drive.

  • how convenient for apple to do that. Microsoft would never make something like this. why FAT32 and not NTSF?

  • OS X can read/write FAT32, not NTFS.

  • awsome TY

  • OS X can read/write FAT32 partitions, where as NTFS partitions OS X can read only.

  • Thanks for the info guys!

  • thanks man!

  • Useful info

  • Good tip. Very important.
