Yeah, it was hilarious, the culture difference was amazing! I actually have it on tape, I recorded a rehearsal, complete with a few kids singing a solo...Gotta transfer it from a cassette to an MP3: i have the necessary software (Audacity), but my computer slowed down to the point where it can't support the process (too slow), so my plan is to buy a new computer in the next few weeks, one with enough memory, then I'll put it onto an MP3, and post it so you can check it out! Bye!
I love this song! Thanks!! I worked at the Mountain View Elementary School in Goleta, Ca., in 1986, and had to teach the 5th and 6th graders some songs..this was one of them! Of course had to cut out "g-damn", but it was hilarious to hear these little middle-class white kids singing their hearts out in this Leadbelly song! Great post!
@nicodagger I know its a bit late and others may have directed you to it already, but there is a version of this song in which Leadbelly says "woah cunningham" instead g-damn. Also, the verse regarding "sugar in the gourd" is omitted, so its family-friendly on all fronts. It is the version uploaded by piersonsmusic.
Nice! Love Mr. Leadbelly and the video was excellent!

It's an old french movie, A Trip To The Moon. I edited it a bit, sacrilegiously i know, to fit the music.
