Went to buy a new 5200 from the vitamix site ~ 11.5% Ohio sales tax !!! To HELL w/ that - got a like new 3600 on ebay for $170 instead. Took a little scouting & patience but it was worth it.
@mariaperiwinkle Mainly it's only if you run it for a while , but a simple smoothie won't kill anything as far as temperature goes , It takes about 4 minutes to get hot, at least with the newest ones. a smoothie in a new vitamix take maybe 30-90 seconds.
It does have a lot of power, but the new one I got is much more powerful. It's the 3hp Vita Prep 3 professional model..Only thing they don't have the reverse feature anymore, that was sort of cool! And yes, need lots of room, specially my cooking, it always looks like a bomb went off after I am done! :-)
