Carrie had worn the necklace throughout all of the seasons of the show. She thought she lost it, and phoned miranda close to tears, and told her how the necklace wasn't valuable but because she bought it when they were all together; it was sentimental to her and it made her miss new york and wonder if she made the right choice by leaving.

She was missing her friends and she was very lonely in paris because aleksandr had to work all the time.
