I believe the majority of the plain people of the United States will, day in and day out, make fewer mistakes in governing themselves than any smaller class or body of men, no matter what their training, will make in trying to govern them.
wow we dont want to hear your stupid little rhetoric and propaganda foolish little girl. You dont know what the hell you are talking about, have you ever even checked your stupid little book's sources?? How about you read the UNBIASED history, books from the period, biographies, and real documents like a real historian. The progressive movement was one of the best thing to happen to this Nation!!!
The problem with conservatives such as yourself is that you view the Constitution as a dead instrument. It is not. It i sa living one. As society grows we are able to better embrace and fulfill its ideal, even if that means challenging old traditions about those ideals. An example of this would be extending all citizens the right to vote. The Con. grants this but it took America 160 yrs to give women the right and 170 to give blacks that right. Judges held back the fufillment of the Con.
@PierzStyx TR understood this. He moved to act in the powers he had to fulfill the Con powers and guarantees in spite of the false ideals and traditions grown up around it that warped its truths. The courts had to catch up because they were still lagging behind in false and wrong traditions not inline with the Con. Also, don't believe everything you read because its in a book.
@FujiwaraNoGo Bush governed like any other liberal Democrat does. Note how much he and Obama actually agreed on on such thing as bail outs and debit spending. He did not govern as a conservative.
@FujiwaraNoGo brookesbanye , Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin. there are no republicans any more. there all called libertarians now. what things are called change , the desorption doesn't...
@FujiwaraNoGo bush is no longer in office so why are re referencing a rhino that isn't in power?
and no lower taxes always equal more work and a better economy. why would you want to raise taxes? it's already proven government run welfare programs have a 80% waste when trying to do any thing so less then 20% of the collected money actually goes to the cause that it was intended to.. VS private businesses and charity where it's a 20% waste and 80% going to the intended recipient.
@FujiwaraNoGo the answer is neither . because lower taxes increase jobs , and no welfare forces people to work. and you add a law like in Kennesaw where all citizens have to own and be trained in how to use a gun and no MoFO gonna be stupid enough to mes your shit up becuse you'll cap'um yourself..
Your first quote about a politician using demagoguery is not new. In fact it goes back 2500 years to the Greek Sophists. In fact in Aristole's "Rhetoric," he talks about the use of logos, ethos, and pathos in a speech or debate. And your long ass quote about TR, so what? Who cares what he believed how did he act on those beliefs? Your quote provided no tangible evidence other than naval expansion.
PaintMaryconley, you and your beautiful, masculine face cannot stop us from achieving liberal fascism. No amount of right-wing idealism or soap-box preaching will save conservatism as you know it.
yea Wilson... one of our best.... you gotta be kidding... I'd take glenn beck before this book which describes progressives of a different time under different circumstance.
I am an ex liberal, independent now... I supported the real liberalism that as a teen for me, supported legit oppression and equality, based on the freedoms of the constitution, even if I didn't agree with it and as long as the rules were for everyone... comprimise would work wonders for peace. Hate bills for certain groups exclude christian, male and hetero rights and unless they get included, I disagree with it. EQUAL. This is liberal fascism at it's best.
Democrat FDR and Truman, held Japanese Americans in concentration camps and Truman signed off on the only two nuclear attacks in world history, support for Israel being estabished at that time from Truman and Churchill was because they didn't want all the Jews in their country, Bush was a fiscal socialist, with a touch of conservative not a true president, the 2 presidents that were for the ppl IMHO were Reagan and JFK, today JFK would be considered conservative.
@MrSpieldose If JFK had lived into the modern era, chances are he would have ended up thinking much like his brother, Ted Kennedy. Libertarianism was founded when the 60's ended, so it wouldn't surprise me that there were people like your grandmother back then. Let's not forget, Kennedy began the War on Poverty: he passed the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and the Social Security Act of 1965. Kennedy also had an interventionist foreign policy, so it would be wrong to compare him to Ron Paul.
Thank you so much for reading this to me, PMC! I read a good deal of the book but it's having more impact in my mind to have you reading it. I value your dynamic energy too.
I am not attacking you. I was much like you - when your age. I enjoy your zeal, but after decades of life I did a full circle and finally learned what my English teachers were trying to teach me. Simply this - know the difference between facts and opinions. It really didn't mean any more than that. I don't even care about Roosevelt, but everyone seems to be highly charged these days and I have this issue with my friends and children - strive to learn the facts first.
My what? Do you normally insult those who just challenge your ideas a little? Anything that doesn't fit your mindset can't be correct? I don't disagree with the author actually, the point I didn't explain well enough is that the truth is the hardest to find. How do you know the author is right? You should get a second opinion. You will build better reasoning capabilities. Keep up the good work. I wish I could have done what you are doing when I was your age.
a very well researched author that happens to be right ....and at the same time I'm reading this I'm reading rise and fall of the third Reich common sense and periodicals of the day so you can shut your pie hole
teddy roosevelt studied in england the corporate fascism that he brought home. while being great for the robber barons it impoverished the rest of society. picture old england where for hundreds of years everybody working 12 hour days 6 days a week just to have a rat infested home and barely any bread. beggars all over the streets. the elite love this because it gives them all the power and control. when it takes all your energy to just survive you dont cause much trouble for them.
You're missing the point of Goldberg's book. It's to make liberals look bad, not to point out that liberals and conservatives had similar views on some things.
Yes i know he is , just that in several videos you had mentioned that some commentors had made remarks calling you "ugly, fat,or otherwise undesirable" I was simply letting you know that I disagree with them ...have a good night.
What if we do end up with Socialism? So long as everyone is accounted for and taken care of I am all for it. Hell if capitalism acounted for and took care of everyone I would be all for it. Sadly capitalism does not even have the potential to do so. Also please do not allow Glenn Beck to brainwash you.
How is it slavery? Many people think of our current capitalist system as slavery and give interesting reasons on why they feel that way..... Doesn't make them right though.
your going to have me do the history of the Confederate States , i can not explain all this in 500 charters it will take a full week at least . let me Finnish this round and the revolution stuff, when we get into states rights latter this year i'll cover slavery.
in a nut shell. capitalism pays you for your good or service. you reap what you sow . and have the freedom to wok your way up or start you own business. socialism the government owns every thing there is no advancement.
Interesting stuff Mary!! BTW on a side note if you get the time read Albert Speer's biography "Inside the Third Reich" and check out what Hitler thought of Muslims...
Most history is disturbing however we must try our best 2 understand it and try not 2 repeat it. I see a lot of Hitler in Obama and it frightens the hell out of me!!
ther is some there but . that will be for another day i think prominatly wher the parrelles are are froma broken home , never worksa real job they were both "community organizers, andbot used by ther parties . a common thing that come up is the PARTY seems ot pick a figure head then pull ther strings once their conditioned .
i think Obama is actually more like Woodrow Wilson, he models himself as a lecturer and a nanny . like Wilson does.
I believe the majority of the plain people of the United States will, day in and day out, make fewer mistakes in governing themselves than any smaller class or body of men, no matter what their training, will make in trying to govern them.

nowher in th book does it say libe and conservativs had similar views ..
it said libs when they got scared decided to lump all their detractors together regardless of their actually views on policy .
which is where they fascist conservative myth came from. it was never the right always the left.
