The problem with conservatives such as yourself is that you view the Constitution as a dead instrument. It is not. It i sa living one. As society grows we are able to better embrace and fulfill its ideal, even if that means challenging old traditions about those ideals.An example of this would be extending all citizens the right to vote. The Con. grants this but it took America 160 yrs to give women the right and 170 to give blacks that right. Judges held back the fufillment of the Con.

@PierzStyx TR understood this. He moved to act in the powers he had to fulfill the Con powers and guarantees in spite of the false ideals and traditions grown up around it that warped its truths.  The courts had to catch up because they were still lagging behind in false and wrong traditions not inline with the Con. Also, don't believe everything you read because its in a book.

VS private businesses and charity where it's a 20% waste and 80% going to the intended recipient.

Your first quote about a politician using demagoguery is not new. In fact it goes back 2500 years to the Greek Sophists. I am an ex liberal, independent now... I supported the real liberalism that as a teen for me, supported legit oppression and equality, based on the freedoms of the constitution, even if I didn't agree with it and as long as the rules were for everyone... comprimise would work wonders for peace. Hate bills for certain groups exclude christian, male and hetero rights and unless they get included, I disagree with it. EQUAL. This is liberal fascism at it's best.

Libertarianism was founded when the 60's ended, so it wouldn't surprise me that there were people like your grandmother back then. Let's not forget, Kennedy began the War on Poverty: he passed the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and the Social Security Act of 1965. Kennedy also had an interventionist foreign policy, so it would be wrong to compare him to Ron Paul.

I am not attacking you. I was much like you - when your age. I enjoy your zeal, but after decades of life I did a full circle and finally learned what my English teachers were trying to teach me. Simply this - know the difference between facts and opinions. It really didn't mean any more than that. I don't even care about Roosevelt, but everyone seems to be highly charged these days and I have this issue with my friends and children - strive to learn the facts first.
