You should find it was built by OeBB at their workshops in Linz as sub-contractors to Siemens - to free-up workshop space at Krefeld and to keep costs down - parts were manufactured at Krefeld, then assembled at Linz
yep, that's exactly what we don't see enough of being stuck here on a little island like Britain; a through train from Germany to Italy, formed of one countries' coaches (you can guess there's another train-pair formed of DB stock), pulled (usually) throughout by one engine (Austrian in this case 'coz it's the 'middle' company), and visiting all countries it passes through (obviously!)

The Taurus is the best loco I've ever driven. Even the sound when they start to drive is like music in my ear ;)
