  • @ xXxmidgexXx: most HV or highpower switchgear has powerfull springs to close the contacts: A normal manual switch would be to hard to close, with the added risk of closing it, and (by accident) opening it because the force it takes.

    Therefore this gear has springs, that get 'loaded' by a motor: when the springs are at the necessary strength, they 'unload' and close with a kinda snapping sound.

  • @xXxmidgexXx It's the sound of the spring that opens the breaker being charged.
