i own a clio sport atm but am only 20 so the fact it dont have a turbo is nice on my wallet can keep up and even beat alot of cars out there i drove rs500 on a private road and loved it but even know a standard clio its slower for me alot more fun check out my vids of my car clio at 300hp :)
So he's comparing a hatchback that is quicker than a BMW M3, and has 345bhp, and a 2.5L Turbocharged engine against a small hatchback, that isnt as quick as a standard Focus ST, and only has a 2.0L NA engine and 197bhp. Jesus christ these people do some pointless reviews.
Whatever critics will say..that ford 2.5 turbo is just an awesome engine..great sound, good tunability etcetc ...probably one of the best 5-cyls got anywhere near a hot hatchback..just gotta love it for what it is i guess...the last of it's kind !
For allround-use though , the ST was surely the better choice to buy ..unless your a fordloving carnutter that just want to have it in it garage or for some trackdays...for all-day use though the RS is overkill of power
what he fails to mention is that although this cars £35,000 it's only going to appreciate in price, I've driven one and the acceleration is incredible, torque is crazy wheel spin in third gear

Clio all the way! As for the RS just buy a 2nd hand focus ST and tune it with some decent suspension and tyres and it will eat the expensive beast for breakfast!
Once you drive many of these cars you'll understand what this comparison is all about, trust me. I'm just saying this, the most fun (agressive) car i've ever driven was a Fiat Punto GT3, old school power and lightweight:) Since then i've driven the clio rs182(excelente car), the megane rs250 cup (stuning but not as fun to drive) and, for instance, the renault twingo rs gordini (great fun to drive, lovelly sound from that engine, awfull driving position, not as fun to drive as a Punto GT also).
@FireFistPortgas Renault doesn't sell cars in America and I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon. If this car were to make it overseas it would be by Nissan since they are part of the Renault-Nissan alliance.

@Saturshi The belief is Americans don't rate performance unless it has a V8. Though over the last 15yrs the internet and a certain racing game on the PS3 has opened up a world of performance that involves corning which doesn't include a V8, so fingers crossed....

i think it´s not fare to compare a Renault Clio Cup with 200 hp and a Ford Focus Rs 500 with 345hp!!!!
It would be fair when they take a Megane rs instead of the clio

I think as a first hot hatch, the clio 200 is the best way to go, I'd avoid the cup version because I want air con, but to be honest, I'd save up and get the megane rs 250 cup, or a seat leon cupra R

I've seen Youtube videos where a Focus RS gets beaten by a Dodge Caliber SRT4 at the quarter mile.
Mégane RS owns the Focus RS, no doubt.

The Renault Mégane RS Trophy has set the record for fastest front wheel drive car at the Nürburgring. It did the lap in 08:07:97, 8minutes7sec.
The previous record was also set by Renault 08:17:90 with the Mégane R26R.
I'm sure the Focus RS 500 isn't able to keep up with the Mégane RS on the track.
Renault makes the best hot hatches at the moment. And that's an end of it

@MrBOJANMAN clio has scaffolding in the back for performance, and rs 500 is soo much faster, more good looking, more reliable, and even ask any bmw, merc, audi, or vw driver, they will tell you that french crap is clearly terrible, ford are part german anyway, and I dont see ur french cwoissant car going faster than a limited bmw m5 exactly!!!!! and it dont handle that well either, and safety aint better either, storage either, peugeats are cheep cos they dont last and are cheap material cars!!

I'm sure you can buy a decent 2nd hand rs cosworth or sierra or a thousand other cooler cars with soul and better performance for that sort of money. Say no to new cars :) Waste of resources. The clio williams looks so much better than that new cup jobbie. The focus looks pretty cool front and profile then you see the hatch and it makes you think they had separate commities on the design team... Ok, so, buy better older cars with soul. Not new junk. Thank you guys

@linn1000 AutoCar actually have an interesting video of the GTR vs the RS... Worth a watch.
However more to the point, the GTR IMO doesn't have the character, passion, soul of the RS. Its too coldly efficient.
However I wouldn't spend that money on an RS.

Once you drive many of these cars you'll understand what this comparison is all about, trust me. I'm just saying this, the most fun (agressive) car i've ever driven was a Fiat Punto GT3, old school power and lightweight:) Since then i've driven the clio rs182(excelente car), the megane rs250 cup (stuning but not as fun to drive) and, for instance, the renault twingo rs gordini (great fun to drive, lovelly sound from that engine, awfull driving position, not as fun to drive as a Punto GT also).

@FireFistPortgas Renault doesn't sell cars in America and I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon. If this car were to make it overseas it would be by Nissan since they are part of the Renault-Nissan alliance.
