the attitude era ended at wrestlemania 17 when austin joined vince mcmahon when i was 12 austin's heel turn was the worst thing that happened to the WWF (now WWE)
@justinfleming1988 are you fucking stupid? thats right before the 2 man power trip which was one of the most brutal eras in wwe history so you are retarded
Man whether you like these two or not, you gotta admit Triple H and Stone Cold were WAY over as heels. And while I'm not a fan of Miz and R-Truth today, they're completely over with die-hard wrestling fans as well.
i dont understand why people complain about austin's heel turn, it was extremely entertaining, and plus, The Rock would have never been able to reach his full potential had Austin not turned heel.
@johnnyfive22 youh were rite austin saveed wwf espicially when he started feuds wiif rock andd hhh cuz rock was wwf champ austin wanted dha title and dha fans loved austin moree than rockk cuz austin would do more action dhats crazy while rock will do a normal match austin will juss pull out a chair or w.e dhen he'll start a feud likee that whichh heated up wwf
Ihts truee austin was all bout wwf andd if austin wasnt dha last survivor in dha wcw vs wwf match vs rockk .. Then dha rock / team wcw wouldve won cuz rvd , booker , shane , and etc ( except austin ) couldnt match dha rock only austin who represented wwf and took out wcw
yah fuck you austin , the reason you got the tittle cuz rock had to leave for hes movie and makin your ass seem like a bad ass , yes your a bad cat and all.. but you dont compare to the rock... atleast he doesnt make choices like u joing other ppl so u can become bigger and have to beat him with 3s to win so fuck you even tho this isnt real still bullshit , they make him the baddest one ever when he cant beat no one , on one on one!
lol wow i love how you nerds totally turned on Austin like that. It was one of his greatest run's in history. He practically saved the WWF during the attitude era. Nice that you guys turn on him like that.
@johnnyfive22 he did not fuckin save shit from the attitude era. the rock pretty much put the wwf on his shoulders up until he left. he was the most electrifying and charismatic superstar in the wwf/wwe. he always got bigger ovations than austin. at this point in time was when austin was really going down in his career. when he decided to kiss up on vince's ass and then turn his fuckin back on him and kiss shane's ass in the wcw/ecw alliance
ha ha your comment made me laugh because clearly you don't know what your talking about. Austin did save the wwf and everybody knows that. If it wasn't for him and Vince's feud wwf wouldn't have beaten WCW. Check your records before you state something
@johnnyfive22 he didnt save nothing. wwf would've beaten wcw any way cuz wcw sucked. and besides the rock and triple h fued was the biggest fued at the time. thats what helped the wwf. so know your role and shut your mouth jabroni
@johnnyfive22 Yes the austin v mcmahon feud helped saved the WWF but like Seannymac said when Austin left for almost 2 years... The Rock was carrying the company.if it werent for him,WCW would've dominated..there were no top stars at that time.so STFU.
this video fuckin sucks. its skipping and the music was off or it was skipping too. u suck at uploading. upload a different vid or something cuz this one sucks
ya austin didnt work as a heel at least not on this level, not in texas anyway. the crowd kinda loved hhh as a heel but it was different with austin, the whole attitude era was built around him being a crowd favourite...
all i gotta say if these 22 men were the only ones in WWE now Stone Cold Rock Triple H Kurt Angle Van Dam Matt Jeff Edge Christian Tajiri Jim Ross Mick Foley Jerry Lawler Tazz Michael Cole as a backstage interviewer Big Show Val Venus Rikishi Undetaker Kane Bradshaw Farouuq and these 8 women Stephanie McMahon Lita Trish Stratus Stacy Keibler Gail Kim Sable Beth Pheonix as Chyna and to be honest Torrie Wilson WWE would never go out and would stay TV 14 forever
pure hating going on up in here boy, steve austiin brought the wwf to the forefront in 98 then him the rock taker triple h kane carried the business until vince started hiring mediocre talent who could not compete, nothing to do with him turning bad.
Personally I never like Austin's gimmick because his gimmick was recycled, he took Jake Snake Roberts "Trust me" gimmick and made it bad. I mean common now he took something that wasn't his and failed to make it MORE impactful. With all due respect to austin he wasn't that good, and turning him a heel killed WWF in 2001. Triple HHH however MADE me watch Austin in this period! But I couldn't take Austin as a heel seriously neither could I take him serious as a tweener or face.
You know what you are? You are a stuck up idiot who'd buy ANYTHING with 'Attiude era" and "Stone Cold Steve Austin" on it. Attitude era was one of the things that caused US Wrestling to flop
Uhh no I am just stating facts, you are obviously biased against austin and this era for w/e reason and are constantly bring up this golden era of wrestling. I don't understand why you are watching these vids just to bash the era its retarded
I only watch the attitude era for one person........... THE UNDERTAKER! I'd bash the whole roster except for that man. He helped Austin when Shawn Michaels was bullying him in the back, and what does he get in return? NOTHING so Austin is a stuck up bitch just like Shawn Michaels. And I don't care usually for Backstage politic.s
Ok? what did you want austin to do, bake taker a cake and throw a surprise party for him? and I still think its stupid to bash this era just because of a wrestler, him along with the rock, HHH, kane, Taker, and mick foley have put on some of the greatest matches. As well as being in some heavy storylines
@tonshaad1230 WTF?you're a Fan youre suppose to care what the superstars do in the ring, not backstage.plus you werent even there at wm14 to begin with so how the fuck would you know if Taker helped Austin?
I have connections with the backstage because my uncle works for the WWE excuse you. And i was there at WM14 and i saw beforehand how Undertaker choked Shawn into jobbing, since Shawn WOULDN'T job to anyone prior to WM14. Taker would've destroyed *literally kill* Shawn Michaels hadn't he not job to austin, now its a different perspective because now Taker and Michaels are good friends.
@tonshaad1230 I could see that happening. Taker even said in an interview it was usually him who had to keep some of the other guys in line all the time. He was the locker room leader if you will. even backstage, Mark is respected a hell of a lot. Shawn has some gonads then because I wouldn't want him pissed at me. That would be scary as hell.
Actually, it was a great move on the WWE's part. They needed to switch things up and turning Austin heel, at the time they did it, was absolutely perfect.
If history is truly cyclical, John Cena's heel turn will register on the scale the same way Austin's did.
It would have been a lot better if The Rock didn't have to be in Hollywood for all that time. The worst thing about Austin turning heel was that the WWF was missing a top face, and not even Undertaker and Kane were able to fill that void.
But consider the greater good that came from it though over the long haul.
Stone Cold turned face later that year, The Rock eventually comes back and goes heel off his Hollywood experience, giving us a great rematch with Hogan and the finale with Austin at Wrestlemania.
Taker and Kane were means to an end at that point in time, the only two that were bad ass enough to go head up with Austin and Triple H.
John Cena's heel turn would be epic. He was at his best when he was heel and rapping against the crowd. The only reason he'll never go heel is because the company doesn't want him to because of how much he appeals to kids.
I never understood why people said that. Austin was far more entertaining and original as a heel IMO. It's not like there wasn't an extremely over face to take his place. (Rock)
And I don't know how it's "the worst thing to happen to the WWF" because this was the year when they finally crushed WCW. This was the WWF's peak. It wasn't going to get any better than this, and as we can see now, it hasn't.
@supernazimoses ... dude wtf austin's heel turn was brilliant!!! Thats like saying Hulk Hogan's heel turn and the nWo was the worst thing that happened to WCW. The power trip was one of the best storylines in WWF history!
@supernazimoses It was a perfect time for him to do it because it built up to the whole Alliance angle the WWF did a good job at keeping fresh ideas like the breif IC title feud with Trips and Jeff Hardy while building to the Backlash match with The Brothers of Destruction vs Two Man Power Trip. The WWF did a great job at not letting things go stale with their talent and storylines.
@dirty117 It's a dumb move have the #1 babyface turn heel at the same exact time that the #2 babyface (The Rock) is going on hiatus to film a movie. And they definitely didn't do it to build up to the Alliance angle, because that wasn't supposed to happen until much, much later. They rushed into it after Triple H and Benoit got injured. They did have some good ideas as you said, but for the most part it was pretty bad TV for its time. It's Shakespearean compared to what's on today, though.
@supernazimoses the thing is, at this time, there roster was so stacked they could get away with it. The hardy's were starting to be considered as main event guys, kane and undertaker got back where they belong (in the main event as well), then jericho and benoit were getting there shot at the main event as well. If austin hadn't turned heel and rock hadn't left who know what guys would have never really got there chance.
Oh Wow,what are the odds,I saw this vid,so I clicked it to enjoy an old episode of Smackdown when it used to be awesome. What are the odds that this particular episode was in my hometown lol.
