  • I have a SAR-8 (Springfield Armory Rifle-8) and it is basically a copy of a CETME or HK91 and it is awesome! I would agree with everything that is said in this video. It is a little heavy, but just do some more pushups ;). Very very accurate and I have hit targets at 425 yrds iron sights! Can't wait to test with a scope. Love this rifle! Thanks for posting another great video Sootch00

  • I picked one up 2 years ago for $700 used from Cabellas. Very badass gun but it's not very easy to find upgrades for it.

  • the 7.62x51 is the .308 winchester. stop calling the 7.62x51 NATO the .308 NATO, that's not a real thing.

other than that, don't compare mass-produced CETMES to german-made masterpieces.

  • Call me a CoD nerd but this gun really reminds me of the Belgian made FN-FAL that cadets in Canada used to be issued, I have not had any experience with this gun, but I have had experience with FN, and they do look a little similar, I would love to know the average price of these guns and good bid!

  • @PADSCALE

They are both big heavy battle rifles which fire the same round. That is the only similarity between the two.

  • Man, when the cetme ejects brass, it stays ejected! Heh, very nice man. Might have to look at picking one up.

  • You look totally cool shooting your rifle with your shades on. It would be helpful to know if you were putting all your rounds on a 3 inch diameter target at 300 yards or if you were totally missing a 3 foot diameter target at 30 feet.

  • CETME of Saiga .308 converted, which one would you rather have?

  • That is a beautiful battle rifle. It's not quite as sexy as the FAL or L1A1 though.

  • Just wanted you to know that based on your review and a few follow ups I have watched, I am now the proud owner of a CETME...took me a couple of months of drill checks to pay it off but I think I'm going to be very happy with it. Long live the republic brother.

  • I owned a CETME .308 by Century Arms, I had many feeding problems with this rifle. I sent it back to Century Arms twice, and yes I tried different ammo and mags. before sending it back. I also found this rifle hard to cock the bolt back. Maybe the the quality was with Century Arms and the original CETME rifle is ok. I traded it in at a gun show----

  • @kingfish4488 I used the CETME during my service in the spanish army, I had 3 malfunctions in 5 years of service, Im sure Century screwed up your rifle because in Spain its regarded as one of the most rugged and reliable rifles ever manufactured.

  • Excellent, excellent review. Thank you.

  • I hate when people call the Cetme an "HK G3 clone" ughh!!!!

  • Just bought one two days ago love best gun i have ever owned in my opion way better than my ar15.

  • The CETME you show in the video is the CETME C, an evolution of 1964, probably the best CETME of all. G3 is not the brother of the CETME, only a CETME B marketed under another name.

Spanish-German engineers draw on the rifle STG 44, to create in 1949 the first CETME in Spain.

Anyone with a CETME B or C, is one of the best assault rifles ever made.

  • This is Next gun for me SOLD

  • Where can I find one of these?

  • such a beautiful weapon !

  • Think im gonna go get me one of these!

  • Hank Hill laugh at 7:49

  • Comment removed

  • im about to get the claw mount, was wondering if it scratches your gun at all? and what size scope should i get for this gun

  • Very cool. Going to look at some today. Hopefully I'm lucky enough to find a smooth operating one like yours. Kinda nervous about the Century funk ups, but life is a gamble. Gotta roll the dice or youll never have the chance to win.

  • Nice piece! In Spain is known as "Chopo" because of the wood it is made... enjoy this piece of History.

  • @MJSG78 also was very utile for crushing nuts

  • fallout 3 assault rifle

  • @elite362

close but I think that rifle is a H&K G3

  • @Dylanmg420 Its a spanish Cetme. Look at the rear sights. The German H&K Rifles have drum sights. I used the HK G3 at the German Military

  • This gun is not good. .308 is weak. .22lr is better.

  • @mohawkpunkid lol your high

  • @LIRMF indeed

  • Nice rifle. . .I just picked one up at Allen Arms (Greenville) today for $450 with 8 CETME mags plus a $90 molle drag bag case that came with it (I got lucky on the buy). Can't wait to try it out next weekend. I just ordered a claw mount through CTD. What scope did you finally end up mounting on it?? I've got a few fixed power 4x's laying around. Not sure if a 9 power scope is what I need? What are your thoughts??

  • the cetme is what im looking to pick up sometime next year.

  • What is the difference between this Century Cetme and the one currently being offered by Century? The newer one does not have the wood and its all pakerized.

  • thanks for the bulkammo link i just baught 50 thousand 7.62 for my ak heh

  • is this a blowback design or locking bolt? gas powered?

  • Can you find longer barrels for the cetme? 20? 24?

  • Ok Sootch00, rocken video, which brings me to my question. I have an AR15 & an AK47 and love them both, however I’m looking for a larger round to be used as a battle rifle, with that said which do you prefer and why, the .308 or 30 06.

Also, when looking for a long distance type rifle / sniper I prefer the 30 06, which do you prefer and why, the .308 or 30 06. Thx brother

  • LONG LIVE THE REPUBLIC!!! you can say that again.

  • AWESOME AND VERY EDUCATIONAL THANKS

  • 7.62x51 is a nato round...

  • Cetme 308, century arms C93, or keltec su16. This is pretty much my budget right now, I know these 3 aren't the first option for most, but its all I can afford right now. Which is best?

  • @RollerPigg

    Take a Cetme!

The .308 is a cartridge for true men

Every child can shoot the .45 acp ;--)

  • Great Vid... I'm considering swapping my Beretta CX4 Storm .45 for a CETME. Is that an even trade? Anyone....? Anyone...?

  • before I saw your video, I just bought this gun, despite the sometimes negative reviews. $500 you can't beat it if the the thing works at all. love the 308. I have an AK and the 308 well I enjoy it more. thanks for the vid, you give a straight forward no nonsense review, should be on the discovery channel or something. i'ts that good. I can't wait to get it.

  • Hi Scootch, I heard there are no scope mounts that stay put on that rifle..many complaints on shifting and loosing zero... Any suggestions for a new owner..great job..thanks

  • This is a beautiful rifle!

    I love that wooden furniture.

What really surprised me is its price.

    It's ridiculously cheap for such a gun.... around 500 bucks, that's a joke. :O

Thanks a lot for the review!

  • who makes that scope mount?

  • "Curious" sorry about that.

  • Sootch,

I bought a CETME recently based on this video. Very pleased with rifle. I found your info to be right on the money. Curios, Have you tried to remove the muzzle brake? I'm wondering if it is glued on like you say...

  • nice choice gun to use to meet the PRC soldiers when they come to claim the debt.... :)

  • @GrenMoyo don't have to fight them off just say "hey not my debt your looking for somebody else but may i point you towards washington, it's that way."

  • DONT change the wood stock, they look great on these guns

  • thats teh fn fal from mw2

  • I wish the RFB used g3 mags 99 cents at CTD

  • @tfoshohoe I thought the same thing, MUCH TOUGHER feed lips, I mean I buy 10-20 steel mags at a time when I go to CTD (love going with AR-only people,"how did you just buy 20 HK mags, for $25???", even in BAD condition, they just need a lil' TLC! ). I heard a LOT of people are hiking up the FN-FAL mag prices, which sucks for FN-FAL folks, as well as the RFB, think the HK-91 mags would have been a more 'reliable' choice, IMHO, ESPECIALLY the steel mags(feed lips like an AK dang near!).

  • @reeseman67 Yeah i wish my AR15 had .97cent mags.=)Maby kel-tec needs to work on that.

  • @Sootch00 - Hey Sootch, love the vid, but I gotta ask, could we see an update review, now that you have the new scope on it? Thanks, God Bless, and have a nice day. Sincerely- Brownnz.

  • My 10 yr old loves ours. The concussion is sweet! We have 22 WW1 &WW2 rifles, His 43 Garand is his fav, and the CETME is a very close 2nd

  • sootch00. Great video, how do you attach the sling on the stock, I can't find any info on this.

  • @dagrimes1965 A lot of Cetme's don't have a sling attachment on the rear/buttstock like the HK patterned rifles('91, 93, MP5, PTR's, etc). Depends on what type of furniture you have, the WOOD stocks like this one(Sootch's Cetme) have the sling loop, but the synthetic stock'd CETME's don't usually have one. With a little filing and fitting you can get HK furniture to fit, kind of a PITA though... They make sling's that 'loop' around the stock to give you a sling loop in same spot, hope it helps!

  • Fantastic VIDEO...looking forward to your next one

  • Mine hucks brass 45 ft @ 1- 0 clock(and destroy's brass)IMR 4064 seems to be most accurate in my specific weapon.Runs 308 & 7,62x51 mil rounds & steel case-no prob's as of yet. Recoil is lighter than H&K G3 for some odd reason.Got mine for 300$ 6 years back @ Monroe, WA. gun show-im so glad i picked up a good one- i've heard a few bad stories. Buckhorn sight sucks(aside from close quarters), i use 200 yard peep and aim low for anything under 200-its very accurate once point of impact is found.

  • Thanks for your response but i dont want to guess, i might get hurt or damage my CETME. i like a charge of IMR 4895 for loading my .308's, i wanted to get one load worked up that would work well in all my .308's, bolt actions and semiautos. I like 185 gr. bullets but dont want to risk it if the CETME isnt up to it. Thanks again for your response !

  • Hey Boss man I"ve been thinking about getting a FAL but the thing that keeps me from getting one is the high price and rarity of Mags.

But after watching this i'm starting to think that this might be the better choice what do you think?

  • how did you come across this rifle? local gun dealer? or online?

  • there's... something about a guy who likes to eat e hehe

  • what scope mount is that?

  • what grain of bullet is the heavy'st i can safely use in a CETME ? since it handles the .308 can i use ANY .308 rounds in it ?

  • @sethwyo

    that would be my guess!

  • I have one of the newer century cetmes and they have changed several things on them. Some changes are good and some are bad first they've threaded the barrel and put an h&k style flash hider on, second they changed the magwell angle slightly and now the german magazines work perfectly and the Spanish ones don't work at all(it has a ftf every other round), and they put it in a cheap black plastic stock set (this isn't that big of a deal though I got an hk wood stock set for mine at a gun show fo

  • lol and i was called a lier when i said that i can hold soft ball size groups at the 300y mark with my St Albans stainless CETME

  • I heard someone say that the CETME is better than the G3 (not that it matters, but), what'd you say?

Also, what are C or B models? Ain't as gun litterate as you...

Liked the videos, esp. the historic background and the stories, really enriches the review, so subbed and will check your channel :)

  • sootch, i have one, alot like yours, the only difference is when i bought it it came with a rhinemetal bolt installed

  • very cool , informative video . Thanks for sharing . I also once had an H&K 91 that I regret selling . I have since owned a Polytech M-14 and a FAL , both of which are very long as well as heavy . I look forward to a " new " Century w/ the new 16.5" barrel and hope to find an H&K surlpus retractable stock to complete a very handy sized carbine in .308 caliber . FYI - CTD has H&K alum. mags for less than a buck per copy . One more payday and my funds will be in order ...Good shootin' to ya !

  • that .308 got alot of f u power and i noticed the ejection pattern was pretty nice

  • Is this a gas impingment operation rifle? And Sootch you look like a tank with those shades :D

  • Comment removed

  • Really cool rifle. Thanks for the making this vid.

  • How does it do with steel case ammo? I have a clone, an FA91 by Federal Arms, and new steel case is cheaper than I can get the components and reload myself.

  • i hav one, all up to spec, bought it used, totally repaired with a rhinetail bolt

  • what was with the part where he's walking around in the woods like he's hunting? is that marketing or was he just showing us it goes well with trees?

  • Where could you find a nice wooden stock like that and a scope mount?

  • With that beard and mustache you look like Dennis Hopper. :D

  • i was at that gun show and saw a couple cetme for sale

  • Sootch...I have been VERY interested in picking up a CETME for some time. I have never had my hands on one and my only reservation is that I am a lefty rifle shooter. Any thoughts on how this rifle would be for someone shooting it from the other side? I am pretty used to adjusting for mag release/insertion and safeties...my main concern is the shell ejection up side the head. TIA!

  • this was my gun in army service ;-) strong but heavy ;-)

  • I have a "G3", or AK4 (Swedish name), for several years during my military service both home and abroad. Of course it´s heavy ,but what a rifle... I saw one thing on your vid, this is just a tip from the coach :-) Take it or leave it... The pins holding the stock to the frame, turn them around so they don´t fell/press out by accident. Maybe not so important on the range but another thing in the bush.... Keep up the good work sooth00!

  • @Tengan65 AGREE! Always put my stock pins in stock retainer holes, they can be easy to lose! I love that the PTR-91('F' full size), HK-91, Cetme's have/HAD such cheap HK parts.(I got my wide HK forearm W/bipod for $129 as a package deal in '08. Rechecked, it's $130-handguard, and $230(!!!) for the bipod now!) But hey, I got all the accessories I wanted & $.99 for HK aluminum, and $1.49 for HK steel 20-rnd mags, NICE! Time for a Willams trigger job and paddle mag release! LOVE THE '91's!!

  • Well!? What were they doing? :)

  • Good work getting a great cetme, from what I've heard Century arms CETMEs are either hit or miss

  • My father carried one of these, qualified marksman, and fought with this while he was involved with NATO. He will depend his life on this rifle and just recently bought one. Very tight groups, very cheap mags, and a very awesome round. I love shooting it and haven't really had a hiccup with it. Where did you pick up the scope mount if you don't mind me asking?

  • Biggest turn off for the CETME (at least for me) is that it MUTILATES the brass to the point that you can't reload it. For that reason I think an FAL is a better choice if you wanna reload.

  • where is this shooting range at??

  • .308 rules as a battle rifle

  • I LOVE my CETME. Execellent review Sootch!

  • sootch my father just bought a ruger gp100 do ou think you can do a review on one

  • I want an M14 badly, mostly because a stock M14 isn't effected by the CA AW ban. .308/7.62x51 both are beasts.

  • I don't think you can beat the look of that wood.

  • Sootch, what EXACTLY is the difference of .308 and 7.62x51? Is it like a 5.56x45 to a .223? I've heard a lot of different explanations. Thanks!

  • @hgrfi From what I heard, the .308 has higher chamber pressures where the 7.62x51 has lower chamber pressures. So you shouldn't shoot .308 winchester out of a 7.62x51 barrel. You can shoot 7.62x51 in a .308 winchester barrel though.

  • Hey Don, Got my 91 back in 1985 for 485.00. During the ban I could have sold it for

4-K. Glad I didn't. Great video as usual I always wondered about the relationship between the CETME and The HK. What is the current ball park price of a CETME these days?

  • @pappyhighlife The CETME runs $500 and up. Not a bad price for such a nice rifle. I wish had had not been so rash. The HK is the Boss! Thanks Bro~ Sootch00

  • you look like such a badass with the beard and glasses. no lie.

  • I almost bought 1... Went with the ar10... I really like the ar10... Great video...

  • Sorry Sootch, neat gun but I prefer the FAL. Just a personal preference.

  • A Houg Grip would look nice on that. I hope Tapco comes out with magizines with that I like Tapco products.

  • Muzzle Brea? New tactical accesory? :P

  • What's the difference between the 7,62x51 and the .308???

  • @Kueche90 none. just dont shoot the 308 in a 762 gun, but the opposite can be done.

  • @TheGuyWithAWeirdName you sure about that? I think you can shoot .308 through a 7.62 rifle, but not a 7.62 through a .308.

  • @TheGuyWithAWeirdName and why can't you shoiot the .308 in a 7,62???

  • @Kueche90 its difference in pressure in the casing, look it up on wikipedia, I'm no expert

  • @TheGuyWithAWeirdName ok. Thank you very much :D

  • sootch- a quick heads up on the cheaper than dirt stock. It didn't fit right away. when you pull the stock off there is the spring mounted to it with a plastic/rubber end(not sure of the actual name of it) but it was way to big to fit in the gun. With careful sanding and test fitting it worked out fine.I have 700 rounds through it since with zero problems.Best birthday present my wife has got me yet!

  • @basszack Thanks for the Stock info. I've been contemplating getting one just for kicks so that's good to know. Best~ Sootch00

  • @basszack a wife who's into guns,awsome!!

  • @jaxc89 I asked her what she wanted for our anniversary and she said a new shotgun!

  • Is it easy for a gunsmith to check to see if the headspace etc are correct? I always wanted one but when I heard people were having issues it stopped me from buying one. How much is a rifle like this without the scope?

  • Yay! CETME review! You are the man!

  • ...sootch00....thanks for making super videos....i don´t know the cetme....but i realy hated the G3....the new 308 semi auto rifles are probably super rifles(but i don´t know)....but i take a AR15/M16 over a G3 by a vide margin....at 9:00 sootch talks about a friend who shoot two deers in one shoot....well...i think that that is the real problem with the 308/7.62nato....it got to much power...and will do damage after the intented target has been hit....

  • I need to get one of those rifles.

  • Yea. You're right. It's not an H&K! But neither is mine! Ha! Great review Bro!

  • Does anyone ever look at you goofy when your at the range and have a camera set up looking right at you while your shooting? lol

  • @drewsterm7 Not when I'm carrying this rifle! Lol!

  • @sootch00 haha nice, good work and thanks for the reviews

  • I am really intrigued by this rifle. Thanks for showing brother. Btw check out my garden vlog. Your garden video was the reason I started my garden to begin with.

  • I love the reviews of older battle rifles

  • If I lived in a more rural open area, I would be torn between one of these or a PSL. This looks like a nice rifle.

  • Great review sootch.

Nice looking rifle. was looking to pick up a 308. how does the cetme compare to the fal, in quality and price?

  • damn sootch, if the u. s. is ever invaded im comin to your place!! haha

  • nice rifle, would love to have one. peace out.

  • Ive never seen one with wood furniture on it! I think it makes that rifle! It looks badass! Never shot one but I'd like to check them out now that I've seen this vid. Hmmm...my b-day is comming up, maybe I'll get myself one!

  • I remember I was selling a airsoft gun(A really rare one) and a guy said he would trade a CETME for my STAR M60. But I needed the money at the moment and didn't do the trade... I regret it so much.

  • my God that thing looks huge!!

  • How do I get my hands on one of those??!!!!!

  • I noticed your Claw mount is foward due to slippage? My new mount design will eleminate that problem.

  • I am going to be building a special scope mount for CAI CETMEs. Available in late summer 2011.

  • Hey Sootch...love your vids! Just a quick request...how about showing some pics of the targets you shoot during your vids. Thanks!

    ~ WHP

  • my dad had one of these and i wouldnt own one my personal opinion! it is a brass chucker and it kicked like 40 mules. i shoot 30-06 all the time and this thing kicked twice as bad as the 06. my dad traded it and maybe two months later the guy was shooting it and the the damn buttstock blew off of it. did we get a lemon? maybe but just my two cents.

  • @tradbowyer1975 Bad ammo maybe?

It nt only chucks brass really well, but it dents the shit out of them too!

  • Good vid, nice gun.

  • great review. sootch, i wound up building an AR, funny thing is though, i'm still wantin a cetme, go figure. looked at some at the grandrapids gun show, very utilitarian, i' m a little skeptical of the horror stories, ground bolts, incorrect headspacing, broke extractors, looks like you got lucky thogh, keep em comn!

  • Definitely gonna get one of these when I turn 18 or later.

  • I was issued one AG-3 (G3A3) and there is a paddle magazine release behind the magazine well on the original G3 type and similar HK rifles. Why is it missing on many of the rifles that is imported to the US?

  • I don't mean to be a little bitch but you wrote ''muzzle brea'' instead of ''muzzle break'' at 2:58

  • I love your details in these videos. Batman would be proud no doubt.

  • Sweet rifle. I wouldn't change the wood furniture on it either, looks sharp.

  • Excellent review!! I think you should change the wood out in my opinion. Nice filter at the end!!!

  • I bought my H&K 91 in 1978 for $350 and in a moment of needing extra money sold it for $400 in 1988. The guy who bought it from me already had a buyer for $750. And he took great pleasure in telling me so.

  • FN FAL review?

  • JAY. it looks just like the old G3 rifle from the Bundeswehr :D

  • Nice weapon,,,I have the FNFAL 308, and like your CETME, she's heavy!

    Thumbs UP~John

  • i know this is kind of a weird question but i'm getting a bonus check from my job and i'm looking at getting another rifle, and i was looking at a golani (galil clone) and a cetme, their both around 500 dollars and i cant decide wich one to choose, and was just wondering if you had any advice, i know that they are completely different rifles but i've changed my mind a hundred times and i figure anything can help... thanks

  • @Rubengt303 ammo's probably cheaper for the galil. I dunno what that means to you, but it means alot to me. I know you were askin sootch but I thought I'd chime in. Please don't take offense.

  • @Rubengt303 The Galil is an excellent design for sure. I don't know much about the Century Arms Golani's but it looks like a great addition to anyones collection. I might have to pick up one myself. All things being equal, cailber and weight are your two biggest issues. CETME will be heavy but ballistically superior, the Golani will be light, manuverable but without the range or energy. Still a good choice.

Best of luck to you~ Either one will be a good choice. Thanks~ Sootch00

  • @sootch00 thanks for the info

  • @Rubengt303 I've not heard great things about century's AK's can't say anything about their CETME's though. I'd google some reviews 1st.

  • I would love to have a 308, but the cost of feeding them is outrages nowadays. Any word on the ak54 remill?

  • Yuns are now a bonafied Sassy-foot killa wit dat spani sangria mixer.-------long live republic

  • Biggest problem with them is they really screw up brass with the fluted chamber. Other than that they are super cool guns.

  • very nice rifle man.

  • Why is it that when the mexican military uses the g3 its the worse rifle in the world.. Just saying... Nice vid

  • By the way, you typed Muzzle Brea, instead of Muzzle Break at 3:00
