First rap song to ever get played on mainstream top 40 radio, and Alicia did a great job of making it modern and fresh and a great addition to the soundtrack. Remember, this was written for the MOVIE, first and foremost, not just as a dance tune. The changing of the rap sequence was necessary to make it relevant to the movie, and it was extremely well written and performed. It captures the vibe of the movie to a 'T'. Awesome job Alicia!

Well, the person who said it has already outsold the original is wrong. Rapture sold nearly 2 million in the US alone, over 4 million worldwide. This version is no where near that. Not even over 100,000 yet. It is pretty good though, but not as good as Bondie's version. They should have got Blondie to re-record this version or at least do a duet with Alicia, since the Sex and the City girls are originally 80s ladies too, like Debbie Harry.

Love the fact it manages to keep the new wave beat yet with an added flavor layer of smooth funky rhythm. Even the main theme of Sex & the City famous piano tone is a nice homage. I totally dig the break down of the Latin/disco beats at the 3:15 mark, and why do I imagine hearing this in Studio 54? =)~
