gospel versions are always soooooo much better than any other version - they are joyous rather than depressing to listen to, which is exactly how it should be!
I'm not religious in the least, but I love this song.... and appreciate it... so why can't others who seem to be posting nasty comments do the same?! grr
The Lord Yah revealed to me not long ago that we are His Holy Nation, a Peculiar People. I heard and received this message. Black, White, Yellow, Red, we are all His People!
After receiving this message my eyes were opened, there are not black people & white people, red people & yellow people, there are just His people, and those who are lost.
When I see God's Children standing shoulder to shoulder, like a coat of many colours, it is a beautiful thing!
I also want to say that I love the fact that this choir is multiracial. I'd love to know more about this choir. Was this a summer or after-school project? If so, where?
yes its a during school project actually. We took the students to the studio as part of our yearly choir club after school @ Hirman Johnson high scool in Sacramento California
nolove95824, thanks for that information about where and how this video was produced. That sounds like a great experience for high school students. Btw, much love to you now and in your future!
Thanks for adding some soul and spirit to this spiritual song from African American tradition. The history of this song shouldn't be forgotten just because some people have made the word "kumbaya" a trite feel good symbol of fake unity. Enslaved people sang this song as a plea to God. Thanks for reclaiming this song and thanks for posting this video!
Positive attitude :-)
