How do you know thats not what a kid wants to do? She was sleeping not cause it was boring but because she was actually tired.. you do realize you need rest, right?

Even I sleep when im on the road chasing when its needed. What you see on here isnt EVERYTHING that goes on.. Until you do it yourself with someone who knows what there doing, you shouldnt talk.

Id rather bond in a car on the road than not bond with my kid at all. Everyone has their own ways of doing things, so back off.

Hah, sounds like fun. Its good to see that your close to your kids, and i think its a good idea to them along. I LOVE tornadoes, i've never seen a real one up close, i've only seen seen them on a screen. Good luck with everything though!

I agree. I am obsessed with tornadoes as well. I would love to chase them for a week or two someday. But, I live in PA, and I would probably never find the time or extra money these days to travel out to the midwest, and drive non-stop for two weeks. Man, I would love to see what they spend on gas in a week.

Cheating death is his thrill? that has nothing to do with storms...its testing your skills enjoyng natures beauty and fury up close in all aspects of the storm from the towering cumulo clouds to the shelf cloud meso wall cloud or tornado..Storm chasing isnt all about tornados..the most wicked storms i have ever seen never involved a tornado...I think u got hit with RFD winds

Every year kids die on ski slopes, hiking in the mountains, riding rapids in rivers, and many die while riding in a car with their parents on highways. All of those activities I just listed are very dangerous. You can run, you can hide, but where ever you go you can loose your life at any moment. Learn how to manage risk and danger, teach these principles to your kids and you will be doing more for them then trying to protect them from all the dangers by avoiding them.

You chase what I fear: weather fascinates, but also terrifies me (especially when overhead) - getting a little braver now, chase the storms outside my door.  Don't have to drive for miles, wasting gas, waiting for them to pop: they find me. LOL

there are no jobs that position you as a "Storm" or "tornado" chaser. you do it purely out of interest for weather. The ones that are called "Jobs" or "Pros" is if people sponser and pay for gas and expenses. other then that you are just any ol' chaser out their in the plains. there are hundreds out there. lots of people do it.

This is a brave profession. Not to mention, if it weren't for people like this, doplers couldn't tell us ahead enough when a tornado or even a bad storm was coming. Each day they go out and chase storms, we in the long run gain more minute warnings. How exciting this career could be!

well---you probably have to love it first. Inform yourself on new technology and then you probably sell the footage to Discovery or NatGeo or something like that. Seems pretty cool but very time consuming. Great video--nice visuals

There are only like 7 people in the national weather service that get paid to do this job! All others like this guy do it for fun. I had the opportunity to go storm chasing with my university and it was loads of excitement but with gas prices...I wouldn't do it on my own!

well ... i plan on being a field technician in meteorology for NSSL...so first you have to LOVE this...give EVERYTHING for it. Like me. But enoough about me. The you have to go to college(meteorology)...then you have to go to the weather service and tell them what you want to do...
