Brakes are very expensive for the Buff so the drag chute helps slow down this beast to save on brake wear. The pilot can actually feel a tug when the chute deploys. It can stop with just brakes if it has too but it's not very cost effective. The drag chute comes in handy especially on short runways.

I saw a show on the military channel the other day it said that the B52 had drop tanks that were 3000 gallons and fully loaded the B52 could weigh as much as 480,000 lbs. Simply put Bad Ass.

the B-52 is a TRANSPORT PLANE.main cargo load is bombs to be delivered in a war theatre.

the B-52 did what it intentionally was constructed for.i sat in the cockpit of a B-52 and it's far from comfortable and not much space...considering the sometimes long flights the crew have to endure.
