He always played his own songs with different cadences and even tuned them differently at times. He even made a hell of a lot of mistakes. That was the charm of Elliott. If you want to feel the emotions of the original song listen to that, I think the job of someone covering a song is to bring a new perspective to it, so what if the perspective is slightly whimsical?
