This is his first album, titled "David Jones", but it was recorded two years before he joined the Monkees; the album didn't do anything, though, until he became really famous with the Monkees. It was released on Colpix Records, who signed him after the original cast of "Oliver" came to America and apparently, record execs thought they could turn him into a teen idol.

@hypergrl101 before the Monkees he was the star of the Broadway production of Oliver. Then he released his first solo album on Colpix, called "David Jones"; full of very British songs. After the Monkees broke up he released an album on Bell called "Davy Jones". I betcha this is all on wikipedia or on Monkees.com... :) Thanx for sharing! enjoy!
