Let the American Car industry fail, the CAW and UAW workers are paid too much, If they won't make concession to help the car companies allocate money, each of these union organizations can see how it is to work for minimum wage when the company files bankruptcy. Their big wages, and houses etc all gone if they dont make cutbacks to their legal agreements. There is lesson to be learned on both sides of the company and the unions. Clean up their act, and listen to the customer when building cars.
The wage of 70 dollars an hour is based on their hourly wage, benefits and legacy costs that go to retired UAW workers. So all these costs have to be taken into account when manufacturing a product and pricing it
I believe the uaw is the major reason GM,FORD AND Chrysler are in the position they are in.Also overpaid CEO'S,poorly made vehicles, gas guzzlers and vehicles that never made sense to make .All vehicles made by the big 3 are overpriced and not worth the price they sell for.
Why would anyone pay these mostly uneducated assembly line workers more than a teacher, nurse, fireman, policeman and even some general practice doctors/dentists? The worse amount of stress they have is not cross threading a bolt. The rip off is going to stop, and you did it to yourselves. R&D, and CEO's at US auto comapnies need to be fired right now . What a racket.
Just look at our government education dismal failure yet teachers are never called to account for their inability to keep our kids competitive with the rest of the worldwe're close to dead last, yet they never have to answer for it no wonder homeschooling has grown every year and will continue to do soparents are sick of unions padding their employees
pure poppycock. $73.00 an hour has been debunked repeatedly. It's more like $23. And the Rush Limbaugh's of the right wing love to perpetuate this myth. Don't buy in to it. It's a way to shift the blame from myopic management to the workers. Yeah right. The workers are the ones that made the decision to focus on inefficient, poorly designed vehicles. Pure poppycock. Be skeptical of anyone that blames the workers.
The UAW needs to cut the wages in half and not be greedy, same for all the CEO's to the Presidents of any companies. Restructure and make a better guaranteed product.
What a ass the unions are setting a high stander of living, we need to drive everyones wages up not down, also the workers at Toyota make the same if not more then the UAW workers anyway. The fat cat senators are looking out for big business not YOU the middle class. Do you think they are attacking the working class to help the consumer if they drive down labor costs the savings will not go to you it will go to corporate greed
Screw the UAW, I am a computer tech making $15.00 an hour. The UAW wants me to buy a Chevy for 30 grand? Piss on them. I drive a ford now, but when it wears out, Mazda will be my next ride.
Please check what the big three is doing in China and low wage countries. They were built by oil and they are going to sell you the same thing using their oil.
$73/hr! I will never buy an American car again. I am 22, graduating from college in this recession, and will be making $12/hr in California. If I'll work for a slave wage, then I'll support my fellow slaves at Tata motor in India.
I feel you. I'm also from California, 25, and about to graduate college. All I want is a good paying job, but at the same time I was stability also. I'm starting to wonder if my 2 years in college were even worth it. I'm beginning to wonder if I should join the service or move to Canada.
the union should really help them out i rather get paid less than not have a job at all, i don't think the bailout is a good idea but i don't really see another way to get out of this mess
@ 100000cranes, not to put blame on workers at all. Blame unions.
