  • Interesting article about a toxic molecule found in pond scum may trigger neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Parkinson’s.

Article can be read online at the Miller McCune journal. Title is: Was Lou Gehrigs ALS caused by tap water? It was posted on Jan 5, 2011.

  • Nice opening on this video and very cool people. A neighbor was diagnosed with ALS. The physical stuff is bad enough. Add in the psychological elements - which are massive and most people don't see or know about - and it really becomes clear how messed up this disease is.

  • Wow this is so sad. So glad they changed the law and how cool that they named it after Claire after all the work they did. Claire and her family's work will definitely help others. Something they can always remember.

  • @lesslove4u thats the impression I get. My father had a tripple heart bypass about 10 years ago. The issue of money was never discssed. The Australian government health system covered the whole thing. As it should be.

Why would sections of the American public oppose this ?? My guess is because it might come out of their hard earned ""tax dollar""

  • Gotta love the Americian health care system. Its staggering that Obama wanted to change it so the people could be cared for..yet people strongly objected to his health care reforms

  • @podoau Probably because they wanted him to spend more on the Iraq War.

  • Dr. Lange who is in your video is my Doctor.....He's the best! I hope he is yours too......Debbie

  • @scarlet07821 Dr. Lange is a great doctor and person. He is constantly researching new treatments and somehow manages to really care about his patients. Can't ask for better.

  • Bless you and your family, I also have ALS but wasn't aware of that rule. How unfair! I worked full time so wasn't denied, was actually rushed through the SSA system because I had ALS the women at my local office was very helpful. That came as a surprise to me (that someone at a government office was so helpful)

  • Like, even though your motor neurons are hosed, you're gorgeous. We all pray that your courageous efforts lead to effective treatments and ultimately a cure. After all, no folks should ever have motor neurons that are hosed. You go, girl!

  • Rifing with a BR and using BVT will bring a lot of releif!

  • Beautiful video and a touching story. I can't believe how strong Claire and her beautiful family are..

  • Very moving video. Must be something to have ALS and still fight so hard for others! Hope you do more like this - they are so needed.
