@uncdentist09 don't fall off your high horse... and ask the patient who still has a healthy tooth 2+ years later whether he needs those "two words". Here are some nice two words: keep watching!
That guy's teeth look so nasty! Just curious; was he a senior patient that was habitual smoker, coffee and tea drinker. If so, did you recommend whitening his teeth a few shades. I know that teeth yellow naturally with age, but this is ridiculous.
I'm in the dental hygiene program and I have to watch a periodontal surgery video. This one was really interesting seeing as how I'm only in my second semester. I just had a couple questions? What were your post operative instructions for the client?
@YhwhKhai premed with Anaprox, 1 hr prior, take 1 every 6-8 hrs for next 24 hrs. Bump with half to one vicodin as needed. Most pts do not need pain meds past 24hrs. Ice pack for first day only. Soft foods, chewing on the other side. Dab with chlorhexidine dispensed 2x/day.
@perieau i had a tooth extraction that went badly they had to cut the tooth into pieces and i needed stiches... when the anestetic wore off i had the worst pain of my life before my pain medicine prescription was ready i almost passed out.. my question is why do gum stiches hurt so badly???
@b7ray32 gum stitches do not typically hurt. Every situation is different but I find that when we premed patients on ibuprofen or naproxen sodium and keep them on it for 24 hours, that makes a huge difference in post op pain.
@Callofduty4nub The patient was anesthetized with 4% articaine. Premedicated with Naproxen Sodium 550mg, taking it every 6-8 hours for 24hrs; bumping with Vicodin as needed. Patients typically take pain meds after for a day only (if that).
you always seem very calm when doing this..and you always do a perfect job..you have inspired me..i would want to be a dentist..but i think id crack under the pressure..=(
Thanks so much for the kind words!! I never drink caffeinated coffee when I work, I try to get plenty of sleep and I am an exercise addict! The microscope really puts me into a "focused" world and having an awesome assistant makes all the difference as well.
No endo. Reduction was not very deep. Gerestore does not seem to irritate the pulp. We got attachment to the Gerestore in this case but if not we just have to maintain a deep sulcus. Any attachment is probably long junctional epithelial attachment.
Sloppy isolation. Two words....Implant crown. The more heroic you are in dentistry, the harder you fall.

@drkraver the object was to repair the resorption. Fix it and put the tissue back.

great job dr.kwan
want to ask u that tooth was not endodontically treated right?
u did deep reduction into root n put that flowable copmosite i thought
is it irritative to pulp with out liner or base
due to high level of monemer in it?
then how about pocket depth it will be reduced?
and the attachment between connective tissue in the base of reflected flap and
cured composite
how it well be done?
thank u for this great job
