I thought this would be a cheerful song when I first listened to it. What a pleasant surprise! 'But I can't take your perpetual whining, and you can't sing eh eh eh eh eh eh eh'
this is song is beautiful. the magnetic fields lyrics are just outstanding. they nail everyday life. they make me imagine how life really is and how life can be. INCREDIBLE.
I covered this song on ukulele but I'm too camera shy to put it on YouTube :C Also I feel this song with just female vocals wasn't as good, obviously NOTHING IS AS GOOD AS THE MAGNETIC FIELDS.
This IS a great song. I am trying to get into the rest of Mag Fields and I hear to start with this album. It is decent... I cant decide if I like them. I do like their exploration with different formulae. Not stale at all!
Stephen Merrit is easily one of the best lyricists of the last 2oth and early 21th centuries. Every song he writes is quite cleverly composed, can't wait for the new album, eat it, it tastes better raw!!!
eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh eh

The Magnetic Fields make my life complete. I have no idea how I ever lived without them.
My favourite part is: What a dark and dreary life. Are you reaching for a knife? Could you really kill your wife? Yeah! Oh yeah!

Mine: "Oh I die, I die, I die! So it's over you and I. Was my whole life just a lie? Yeah, oh yeah!"
:)

Brilliant indeed. Can you not stand me at all? Yeah, oh yeah. I like the live at Cambridge version as well.

Mm, one of my favourites.
I'm glad to see someone finally put up the recorded version of this song; Stephin Merritt is a genius, and this song is just hysterically funny.
I simply cannot get enough.
carynat0rs 3 years ago 15
Yes, it's kinda odd that nobody had uploaded it before ( I could only find the "live at cambridge" version)
BeWaTer99 3 years ago 2
not true someone else posted it before. it was called "The Magnetic Fields' Yeah! Oh, Yeah! by Patrício Torres"
