  • I imagine the ocean rising and crashing, kinda like the scorcerors?? apprentice i cant spell 8/

  • I picture Link from the legend of zelda battling ganondorf

  • when I first herd the first part of this song I always imagined druids or witches casting and ancient powerful spell.

  • @Alleyneko It sounds like one of the themes from the Batman movie.

  • Kinda reminds me of the Narnia Prince Caspian movie.

  • When I was a kid and heard Tempus Vernum, I pictured a huge battle scene in middle-earth. Such an intense yet beautiful song. Deora Ar Mo Chroi is a wonderful song as well. It's dreamy.

  • I remember when i read the "Half-Blood Prince" it had just been released in 2005 i was so thrilled & excited, i read it in just a cpl of days,as slowly as i could.

While i was reading the chapter of the " The lightning-struck tower", where the death eaters had stormed the castle, i was listening to this track "Tempus Verdum", it fitted so greatly to the pages, so dark.

And then with the death of Dumbledore "Deora Ar Mo Chroi" was being played, i was crying rivers & sobbing all night lol

  • war

  • Deora Ar Mo Croi: I magine that you're flying over Mountains on a very beautiful day; looking down and seeing everything before you...BEAUTIFUL!!! That or flying over a mountain covered in snow in slow motion, words are not even enough to express the Majesty of what you're seeing!

  • Man this song is brutal!I love the first part of it the best!so dark and epic!

  • The way these two songs flow together... it's like the calm after a large storm.

  • peaceful & so calm ... enchanting

  • Please Enya compose and write more songs..........

your music makes you different from other artist..........

  • Ba dheas an la go hoiche. Na glortha benna i mo thaobh. 'S aoibhneas i gach ait gan ghruaim. Athas ar mo chroi go deo. Ma shulaim o na laetha beo. An ghrian 's'an ghealach ar mo chrul. Na uaim ach smaointe o mo shaoil. Deora ar mo chroi go bron.

Deora ar mo chroi means "Tears on My Heart". I love these two songs.

  • Tempus Vernum songs like a Theme from a Horror Flick!!! Sounds like a bunch of witches are having a Coven Party! While Deora Ar Mo Chroi sounds like what you feel when you're soaring above the clouds & seeing the Majesty, Grandeur & Beauty of Snow capped mountains on a Clear beautiful afternoon and everything below. It is making me teary-eyed just thinking about it! X(

  • The only voice on this earth that makes me weep. So beautiful.

  • I love the transition of the two songs, the power and force of Tempus Vernum which then secedes to the calming flowing and haunting harmonies of Deora Ar Mo Crooi. So beautifully done.

  • @irishsean4u Indeed! IMO the two songs, though strikingly different, could exist on each it's own merit but are not the same without the union. A sort of yin-yang situation; one cannot be whole without the other. And how well done! The "triumvirate' at their best! Eithne, writing/singing & playing this stunning piece, Roma, writing the incredible deep lyrics, & Nicky, handling the mixing/recording/production to produce this masterpiece of a song! It's my favorite recording by them.

  • Cricky this is powerful

  • epico.

  • Enya's music will forever be a part of my life. Especially this album. Which still strikes me as her best work :)

  • I've memorized most of Tempus Vernum without thinking. :D

  • @TotalSonicGirl101 Same : ) It's beautiful.

  • @shaeso yea it is, and i can sort of play it on the piano :)

  • love it

  • Na Deora Ar Mo Chroi -- First song I ever sang in Irish. I was only 5. I will never forget the influence she had on me growing up as a child. Thumbs up if she's ever touched your heart strings..

  • the 1st half is so angry and the 2nd so peaceful...they go well together is this Latin or Irish...wotever she is a clever girl...lol....sooooo talented, also how much influence does roma and her dad have on enya's music??????

  • @singledadism the first part is latin the second part is gaelic I believe

  • the second half of this video makes me cry. just lost my grandpa yesterday

  • this is a beautiful song. haunting yet very powerful. almost makes me want to learn latin. almost. lol!

  • A powerful darkness overcome by the light of God's grace.

  • Tempus Vernum reminds me of a thunderstorm which destroy's everything.

  • @dirtymeehan

It made me think of Time Wizards casting Meteor, then the second is the aftermath.

  • Tempus(time) Vernum(spring) Ergo(therefore) Oceanus(ocean) Maritimus(sea) Opacare(dusk) Matutinus(dawn) Septentrio(north) Meridies(south) Occidens(west) Orientis(east) Terra(earth) Stella(star) Hiems(winter) Aestas(summer) Autumnus(autumn) Radius Solis(ray the sun) Umbra(shade) Ignis(fire) Aqua(water) Caelum(sky) Luna(moon)
  • @IQQIQQI Hey... thanks for the lyrics and the translation. I love this song!

  • @eam1705 my pleasure .... Radius Solis is ( ray of the sun ) ... i forgot the " of "

  • @IQQIQQI Thank you for translating this.

  • @DblC3 ... you are very welcome

  • to me this song brings to my mind the story of creation...God creating everything from scratch....heavens and earth...wind , water , fire , brimstone...all coming together to form the planet we know...think about it....

  • poweful....apocalyptic

  • This song makes me think of a cult about to perform a ceromony in a forest in the night. I can just imagine them in red robes holding candles.I suppose it's kind of creepy when you think about it, but that was my first thought when I heard this song. But I think it's beautiful and powerful!

  • I love songs in Latin :D

  • every time I miss my dad this song soothes me.

  • the power of a thunderstorm.......very intense, but purposeful!

  • Enya's ominous themes are always in Latin, I've noticed that. With one exception, Afer Ventus.

  • Aguante Cronica TV

  • @JulianK28 Jajajajajajajajaja!!!

  • This is such a powerful song by Enya. Beautiful in every aspect.

  • I like to put "Deora Ar Mo Chroi" on repeat as I sleep through the night. Very relaxing and meditative.

  • To be honest, the first time I listened to this song, I was speechless. In other words, it was amazing, and still is. It was like something about the song, of the song was evoking the spirit of Temper within me...and the feel of it was like I was out in the deep on a ship, and there was a very violent storm going on. I don't know...I'm just describing what it was like the first time listening to this song. Overall...it was amazing...and still is!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • I will play this, but everyone should have "Enya" IMHO. :)

  • 'Barbe' go back to playing WoW!!

  • Beautiful..

  • Makes me think of an army on there way to a battle in which both sides believe they will lose gloriosly....or a game of chess

  • Exsactly, well at least the battle part. To me, I see men and women strapping armor on, getting ready for a battle that will end all battles, perhaps one to avenge the murder of their king. Can you see them? Walking down the halls of the castle in their armor, then riding slowly out to the town where people wave goodbye. Then perhaps a slowmotion of the horses running across a field

  • your comment makes me think Tim Burton's vision of a veritable sequel to Alice in Wonderland peppered with the chess elements from Through the Looking Glass...

  • @Romanusmilus ur funny hahah

  • This song reminds me about an Illusionist about to cast Stardust, followed by a Time Mage casting Meteor, then calmness.....Try using this against that massive army in Lord of the Rings! :D

  • Oh I see; thanks. ...it's a very pretty name. One of these days I'll learn Gaelic so I can figure out things like that on my own ^.^

  • A random thought - is Enya her real name or is that just a ... like an assumed name or whatever, the way writers use pen-names and we use screen-names? And if it is her real name, what's her last name?

  • Eithne Ní Bhraonáin is her "real name". Enya is a phonetic spelling of her first name. Her last name is Brennan.

  • @AJMusicgirl

Her real name in American or English is: Edna Brennan

  • @joel750 No. It's pronounced "Enya Brennan". Not Edweena, Eddie, or Edna, but Enya.

  • @Inquisitor53

Fine! Have it your way! XD

  • @joel750 The truth usually does but I thank you anyway.

  • @Inquisitor53 But I'll STILL call her EDNA BRENNAN as in American name...Enya Braonnan in IRISH! XD

  • @joel750 Even though she's not american, eh? I don't care what name you call her (no matter how incorrect you are & wish to be); That's up to you. I'm just informing you of your error. If you choose to stay in error that's your problem, not mine. I will, however correct you every time I see it.

  • @Inquisitor53

JUST KIDDING!!! XD XD XD LOL!!! Enya Brennan...OK? Fair enough!? Say...You don't happen to be a member of the "Spelling Police"...are you!?

  • @joel750 Fair enough. No, I'm not a member of the "Spelling Police". I knew a scottish/french nurse in Nam. Borne in Scotland. Spoke highland gaelic & vietnamese fluently, along with english & 4 other languages and sang beautifully. She was 'special' to me. Butchered by NVA soldiers when they overran Quang-Tri province. Ruined my world for a few years. Her name was, as I'm sure you know by now, Eithne. Don't get me wrong, I've no bad feelings toward you about you mispronouncing of her name, ...

  • @Inquisitor53 ... as I thought it was in jest. I just happen to think of her whenever the name is mentioned. When this Eithne came on to the music scene her singing brought back some good (and bad) memories. I do love "Enya" music as it stands very well on it's own merit but it gives me a connection with someone very precious I had lost. Sure beats having to visit the shrinks at the V.A. hospital with their heavy meds. Anyway, keep smiling, it scares the hell out the people who need it the most.

  • @Inquisitor53

I'm Sorry to hear that and really have no words :( You are a TOUGH man surviving The Vietnam War & still living today. I can only Imagine the nightmares and the horrors of war you went through! I have heard that war causes people to change. On what kept you from NOT losing your sanity, i will never know but I really admire your strength & the will to survive & THANK YOU for your service to this Country....God Bless :)

  • @joel750 Didn't mean to put you in a somber mood with my reply, just thought I'd give you my reason in a matter-of-fact manner. I survived, Eithne didn't. Still, I'm lucky. I'm alive. It's just something I have to live with. But hey, there's no need to be down about it. Life goes on & the best way to handle it is to meet it head-on with a smile on your face. So let's continue to enjoy the music while we can.

  • @Inquisitor53

:) Thanks and have a great day! :)

  • @RPtheTruth AJMusicgirl told you the answer =) Her name is Irish, it's original form is written in Gaelic Language, not in English. In its native Language, it sounds like the English "Enya". So she adopted Enya for those who can't understand her native Language, but it's her real name.

  • @RPtheTruth it is her real name. Enya Brennan Eithne Patricia Ní Bhraonáin is her full Irish name. Enya is a transliteration of how Eithne is pronounced in the Donegal dialect of the Irish language. Pretty isn't?

  • @RPtheTruth Bhraonáin which means Brennan

  • beautiful

  • Tempus Vernum(latin) - Tiempo de invierno(spanish) - Tempo d'Inverno(italian)- Tempo de Inverno(portuguese and galician)- Winter Time (english)

  • No, "ver" significa "primavera" en latìn, y no "invierno".

  • pues gracias, oye, porque como buena víctima de la logse no tengo ni idea de latín, pero siempre hay tiempo

  • Actually "Tempus Vernum" mean Spring time" in latin. also why the vernal equanox got it's name, the "Spring equanox"

  • is Deora ar mo Croi in Latin too?

  • @SpongyOLlama No. I believe that's in Gaelic (not to sure, but I believe the Irish variant)

  • @ZombieGorePrincess It IS sung in Irish Gaelic, Donegal (Northern Ireland) dialect, to be precise.

  • Deora Ar Mo Chroí is in Irish Gaelic.

  • Waw quite a threatening spring in this time.

  • Tempus Vernum (1st half) is in Latin: the second half is Gailic (Tears on my Heart)

  • Comment removed

  • this should be 1 full song...love it

  • I love when she sings in latin. It is so mystical and full of power.

  • @kevpike1 Yeah, you got that right!!!! Something about this is very mystical, and powerful indeed

  • @kevpike1 i agree

  • @kevpike1 it isnt latin, its irish

  • @roflmfao94 Yes, Deora Ar Mo Chroi is irish gaelic, but Tempus Vernum is latin. Both of the language fit very well with the song.

  • @kevpike1 Late posting but here goes:

I thoroughly agree. IMO this is the pinnacle, the best from each of the Enya triumverate. Marvelous use of language to music variations, the instrumental melding, so many subtleties in so many layers. This is a one great work of art.

  • @kevpike1 It's better when she sings in Gaelic

  • @kevpike1 Somehow Tempus Vernum always reminds me of the scene from the frist part of The Pirates of the Caribbean when the cursed pirates are marching underwater, being lit by the moon...

  • @kevpike1 its not latin,professor.....

  • @bobo007xx

This is Latin, it doesn't take a linguist to figure it out.

  • @IhanaPuhuaSuomi Vox populi. Vox Dei.

  • @IhanaPuhuaSuomi Only the first part, "Tempus Vernum", is sung in latin. The second part, "Deora Ar Mo Chroi", is sung in the donegal dialect of irish gaelic, Eithne's native tongue.

  • Tempus Vernum may mean Winter Time since "Tempo d''Inverno" means, lit., "Time of Winter" in Italian.

  • No, it means "Time of Spring", I checked the term in Latin vocabulary

  • my P.E. teacher played this for us when we were doing yoga. lol. i like it.

  • what does tempus vernum mean?

  • Apparently, it means spring time O_O..?

  • yeah, the Vernal Equinox is Spring Equinox....kind of a crazy mood to set up for Spring, though, obviously...o__O She's honoring all sorts of elements in this song

  • spring time?

  • This is one of my favourite songs :)

  • My modern teacher choreographed a piece for me to Tempus Vernum...and i won with it at all the competitions I took it to!!

  • Comment removed

  • Quite honestly (and risking a spoiler) this is the song that I imagined would have been featured at Dumbledore's funeral, both for the funereal tone and the irony of the lyrics.

  • This would fit beautifully with that part of HP VI: you are absolutely right about that.

I read every book as soon as my son finished with it. An Enya fan too.

  • I love this CD :) Enya is one of the best singer that I know ;D

  • I have this song in my playlist 'Enya'. Check it out. It has 64 songs.

  • omgoddess! ty! i luv this song!!! ive been trying to remember the title of this song for a while now, so it seems!! lol great job! and yes i luv this song! its super awesome! very peaceful, and soothing. enya is one of my fav artist ever! i liked her since i was ten years old. lol but, now i will write the title of this song down, so that i can remember this songs title.

  • me too, i've known her since i was ten, or even somewhat earlier. Her songs have a lot of feelings and, in this one case at least, she does an amazing job transitioning themes/moods/melodies from one song to the other. Love it.

  • pure perfection! don;t u feeel this power?

  • please dont ruin the song by saying that. this was there long before twilight was even conceived. now if youre talking about about an actual new moon ceremony, then ok :)

  • @xxfive0gtxx Yes, but only on a ley line or a vortex, and I know of a few of each in my neck of the woods.

  • How creative of Enya! Two contrasting songs into one. Tempus Vernum: the music being tense, harsh almost, pertaining to things we deal with in this physical world. Then comes the soft, melodic second song Deora Ar Mo Chroi pertaining to the emotional & spiritual part of our lives.

Oh, and what she does to my heart when I hear the lilt in her voice in the chorus of Deora Ar Mo Chroi!...It puts me on another, higher level of peaceful joy.

To Enya! May we hear her sing forever!

  • it's my fav! i don't know why, i just like it.

  • Ergo - Therefor

    Ocean, Sea

    Therefore

    Dusk, Dawn

    Therefore,

    North West

    Therefore,

    West, East

    Therefore,

  • it's so haunting, but beautiful

  • Crossknights !

  • deori ar mo chori sounds almost like the soundtrack in Alexander

  • this is very otherworldly...

  • The song is SO pleasant to listen to.. fits every mood. Very beautiful.

  • the name tempus vernum means spring time in latin isnt it?

  • I think it means 'Time Slave.'

    I don't know, exactly. :U

    Amazing song, btw.

    Enya's amazing. <3

  • Giggle. No. Vernum isn't slave. Time of Spring - Spring time is more accurate. :)

  • Ah, okay. c:

... I got thumbs down for just thinking it meant that. Wow. |D

  • Yeah I saw that.. Kinda harsh, huh? :p

  • Yep, it means time of spring or something like that.

  • Wondermooi :-) 't gevalt me echt!

Würde es möglich irgendwie für mich den Text (lyric) von Tempus Vernum zu schreiben hierher?

    Danke..

    Greetz from Hungary

  • gänsehaut erlebnis ;)

  • It's about nature, yet the song is somewhat eerie yet magical. love it

  • i like her song may it be

  • my fave song is broken by seether

  • i agree like wiches.

  • its the most beautiful song

    in the world

  • A high-school student from our small town won a competition dancing ballet to this song.Lovely,lovely-congratulations,Kristal!

  • For some reason, Enya's Latin items are the darkest: all of them. This one, Pax Deorum and Cursum Perficio.

  • I dunno...Afer Vintus (African Wind), which is sung in latin with its running chorus, is light & quite melodic. Reminds me of sailing in a steady breeze with just ripples across the water. Very nice actually.

  • tempus vernum means springtime

    tempus = time

    ver = spring

    together springtime

  • does anyone know that translation to the tempus vernum?

  • It's mostly about the duality of nature

This is what I was able to get from it although I don't know Latin, just a little Italian

    Because ocean, there are sailors

    Because north, there is south

    Because west, there is east

    Because earth, there are stars

    Because light, darkness

    Because rock, water

    Because autumn, spring

  • Nice Song.

  • very intense. it makes me feel like i am a ship in a storm, then the waters suddenly calm :)

  • this song makes me feel like.. like my soul is being lifted to the heavens, but i am not dead. like my soul is floating over the earth, free and alive.

  • Sounds like witches dancing over a hot couldron... but that's just my take on it.

  • sad song but good ='[

  • I have this album the is my fav song!!

  • Hi! Culd you tell me the name of the album this song is on, please? Cant find it, but I must have this track!

  • The album is called A Day Without Rain :)

  • Thanks!:-)

  • Our lives are entwined with each other and with everything in nature. Yet, although we are part of the cycle of life, we should remember that the earth can begin again - without us. Therefore...

  • It also could somehow be from Pluto's perspective because Spring is when Persephone his some-what wife leaves him to go to her mother so it's sad for him. There are other reasons but I forget them. T_T

  • And then I forget the rest. oo;;

  • Therefore, ocean, sea, therefore dusk, dawn, therefore north, south, therefore west and east, therefore ocean, sea, dusk, dawn, north, south, west and east, therefore earth, star, winter and summer,
  • my latin/english dictionary says "ergo" can also mean "because of" or towards"

  • lol DR House says that all the time.

  • Tempus vernum means Spring time.

This song talks about oposites and about nature. I'll post up the lyrics in a second.

  • Hey guys!!!!!! I know the translation, pronunciation, and words to this song!!!!!1 If you want it give me your e-mail on my account or as a reply and I'll send it to you!!!!!!

  • I think it's "Spring Time", not "Time Servant".

  • I love Enya..so good musics...*.*

today, i discovered that "Secret World" is not from Enya, is from Ronan Hardiman...¬¬

  • I see this as a background addition to the movie "Gladiator" when the scene depicts the first battle of the movie. Even the break in music fits the disposition of the film in that sequence. R...

  • yeah you know many people mistake the music in gladiator to enya's music...

this song is very haunting O-o

  • "Radius solis" means ray of the sun, "et umbra" means & shade, "ignis" means fire, "aqua" means water, "caelum" means sky, & "luna" means moon.

  • If you google the title of this song & scroll down & around a bit you'll find the translation of this song. "Ergo" means therefore, "oceanus" means ocean, "maritimus" means sea, "opacare" means dusk or "to shade", "matutinus" means dawn or "of the morning", "septentrio" means north, "meridies" means south, "occidens et orientis" means west & east, "terra" means earth, "stella" means star, "hiems et aestas" means winter & summer, "autumnus" means autumn, & "tempus vernum" means springtime.

  • Tempus Vernum means *Time Servant* ... T-T It's Latin.

  • incorrect it means spring time

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song! It has inspired a chapter in a book that I am writing.

If you ever see the book out in stores after it gets published, its called: VENUS

    The Battle of Wolves

  • I'm writing a book, too. I don't have my title, though, cuz i'm just beginning.I have my first 89 pages.
