  • @abojeff, @Varahilo if u've installed the new SDK, you'll find a notepad titled "adb_has_moved" under \android\tools. Just read the instructions (you simply need to run the SDK manager, expand "Tools", check "Android SDK Platform-tools" --> click "Install package" and there you go!)

Under CMD you'll need to type C:\android\platform-tools\ which'll fetch the correct directory

    Hope this helped..

  • If you have “error: more than one device and emulator”

you want to use your Model number and insert it into the command:

    EX: abd –s M123abc456d7ef8 shell

    If you get “permission denied”

They had a couple of different versions of the set Install Location info

    pm setIntallLocation 2

set pmsetInstallLocation 2 –This is the one that worked for me.

I hope that helps anyone who may need it.

  • this one is dosent work on galaxy gio adb shell pm setinstalllocation 2 i get an error so i pick this method.

  • what method for galaxy gio.i needed,my phone memory is getting almost full.

  • thank you very much worked on updated htc desire with android 2.2.3.just make sure htc sync is installed and is not open during the process.and if it does not work then open the sdk manager and let it do its thing while you type in command promp

  • Sounds like Harry Potter...but he worked some magic on my android. ;)

    Mytouch 3G Slide Froyo 2.2

  • can u make a better video with zoom in ,. Thanks

  • hi, i went through all your steps properly. Im running on Android Gingerbread 2.3. I downloaded asphalt 6(btw, asphalt 6 isnt on the android market, u have to get it frm gameoft.com) on my phone's sd card(not installed) and I use ASTRO(app) to view all the files on my sd card like i do on a computer, i install the game from there onto my phone(Sony Ericsson Xperia Active), when i open it, it says i need to clear 300mb, when i go to settings to move it to SD card, i cant, what shld i do? PLS HELP

  • when I type "adb devices"; the return is "List of devices attached".

What does that mean? not sure what to do next

  • For those of you who can get as far as the 'adb shell' part, in the video is instructs you to type set pmInstallLocation 2 Some you you may get 'permission denied'. If this happens try typing pm setInstallLocation 2

worked like a charm on mine.

  • when i write adb devices all i get is

    list of devices attached

    *************** device

  • Hi guys, I think you should launch the sdk manager before of doing what he said, worked for me.

    thanks man.

  • Thanks heaps man, worked a charm! :)

  • what can I do if adb devices and platform tools doesnt work ?

  • Thanks a lot for the tip! This really helped me save some space on my phone. I was able to move most of my apps to sd card.

  • when I type in this..... C:\android\platform-tools\

    it doesn't work either

  • @ciriacsm Look in the tools folder, there will be SDK Manager, open that and install platform-tools. After this platform-tools will appear.

  • @ciriacsm

1- open sdk manager (found in android folder)

    2-under "tools" download & install " android sdk platform-tools"

3-once installed u will find that platform tools is now in the android folder

4-open cmd and plug in ur phone then type in the command

5- if u r on gingerbread u may have to root... pm me if u r on gingerbread

  • @ciriacsm you have to type cd then type C:\android\tools

  • this doesn't work for me, when I do adb devices it doesn't work

  • Thanks man this was really helpful. ;)

  • This kid didnt explain shit man wtf

  • but how do i move my apps?

  • @priyank245 like u normally would-options - apps - click on an app

  • Comment removed

  • On my HTC desire many apps were blocked and I couldn't use them. Had to revert this process and using the last command with 1 (instead of 2) I managed to get everything back to normal. Thanks for nothing.

  • @giatubes those a stock apps - as i said, will not work for every single app

  • OMG thxxxx sooooo much

  • I am able to reach C:\android\tools

Then when I typed adb devices, its says it isnt recognized.

  • @SilverAxin try typing C:\android\platform-tools\

  • @msharma97 i tried this and it still says it's not recognized!

  • The location for adb has been moved in current Android SDK.

So u may need to type C:\android\platform-tools\

Most problems may be corrected with this!!!!!

  • im cannot reach until adb devices.. it cannot read mine..

  • @muhamadridzuanshah (in cmd) cd C:\android\platform-tools\ instead of typing C:\android\tools\ if this doesn't work try new drivers for ur phone connection

  • you sound young, but you can do a tutorial! people, is adb doest exist try the platform-tools folder, i got my adb to work there

  • will this work on Froyo 2.1 2.2 2.3?

  • HI! I have an LG Optimus S, and I did everything, but instead of getting the number starting with H, I get a number with A and I still did everything but nothing happened, after I reboot my phone I still can't move the apps. I only have 200 mb internal memory and its full since the first day, the apps I have there now I can't move trough manage applications. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help :)

  • @lirulin89 the h number is my phone identity - ur phone, unless it is the same model as mine will have a different identity

  • @msharma97 Buddy,,I reckon this just a good way of managing your apps better . I have gone through the full procedure successfully on my ZTE Blade/ Dell XCD 35 but then it just doesn't resolve the real problem. For instance, if you install an app like Tswipe-pro keyboard, all of it would remain on your internal memory without giving you an option to move it to SD. I wish I could save it on my SD card instead of where the app developer wants me to save it at..any comments??

  • @maverickk2222 it should allow most apps that can't normally be moved to sd be moves, but some apps like flash player simply cant be moved sry.

  • does it work for 2.3 ?

  • does it work for 2.1??????

  • @msharma97 thanks anyway

  • @msharma97 It Say

'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

    operable program or batch file.

    when i enter adb devices

what? am i doing sumthing wrong??

im trying dix on Samsung Galaxy Mini (Froyo 2.2)

  • @DeeJayAhmed

The adb tool has moved in the platform-tools/ folder.

cut or copy all the files to the "tools" folder.

    goodluck now it should work!

  • @DeeJayAhmed (in cmd) cd C:\android\platform-tools\ instead of typing C:\android\tools\

  • @msharma97 Thank You Very Much...! It Worked Like A Charm....!=)

Nd It Workx With Gingerbread Too...!

Needed A Little More Favor If Possible...!=P

Can Yuh Help Meh Finding Filex And Procedure To Over Clock My Galaxy Mini....!

  • What I downloaded is completely different than what you downloaded... I don't have an application that opens up like yours.

  • man Your Awosome 100% Working on Andriod gingerbread 2.3.3

  • Nice, though I would recommend setting it back to default after freeing up space, just in case, I read that some apps have trouble installing directly to the SD in some peoples cases. To do this instead of setting it to 2, just set it to 0. But thanks for the tutorial, was looking for something like this.

  • I tried this and I was on the command prompt and it said 'abd' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

  • Ur Hella Wack DUDE U ACT LIKE EVERYONE JUST FUCKIN KNOWS ALL THE SHIT UR SAYING U NEED TO EXPLAIN IT BETTER!!

  • @caliboy1550

    :(

  • I have the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4G running Froyo 2.2.1. I followed your procedure and yet the option to move system apps to the SD Card is greyed out. I guess this is not a universal fix?

  • SO i done all of this, my phone was connected to the PC, what then? I have to remove the cable or what actually? Help pls!

  • @knabbel3 U can just remove the cable or remove safely. Ur choice

  • @msharma97

I follow your directions but can't get further because of this error msg. Please help me get this resolved so i can proceed in setting my androids default install location. Thanks

  • @Antonio199426 @LittleWendyLove use cd desktop\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools instead of just cd desktop\android-sdk-windows\tools

  • @Antonio199426 The location for adb has been moved in current Android SDK.
