Omg! JB did crack some high notes. You can see he was very disappointed by his performance. Poor guy. I shouldn't watch this coz now every time I hear this song, I just flash this back!!!! Even though he couldn't sing as good as always, he still insisted not to mime. This showed what a serious performer he was. Hat's off for you, john.

if you read his latest autobiography, then you'll see that he was ill, but also really depressed after those stupid newspapers did those stories about that time he was on the radio, and he'd totally lost his voice until the day they were filming this.

I know! I mean, it is obvious that his voice is in no way at it's best here - I don't think I've ever heard it so subdues, hehe - but he is still amazing. He tones his voice down slightly, and somehow that makes him able to make it sound amazing, illness be damned, I admire that determination to go on that stage and perform, and the fact that he doesn't choose to mime to the song in stead - something a lot ot singers do, even when they're well and on the top of their game.

he changed the lyrics from thats the one thing that we never discuss to thats the one thing that we'll never give up...maybe it was because he wasnt well but im sure they could have changed the original lyric into a lower key....still amazing though

You can hear that he wasn't at his best but it was still excellent.

The thing that wows me about this is the choreography and execution from the dancers, and I love that they had one boy/boy couple in there, although the director didn't turn the camera on them much. A girl/girl couple as well would have been nice too.

@firefighterno1 He can't give it welly as he's a gay corus boy ,with no range,control or power,who bummed the right people!He wouldn't be singing on TV back in the 80's,70's and 60's as he's dreadfully out of tune as well!My friend worked closely with him on Torchwood and she said he's an absolute cunt as well!conceited,tantrum throwing,ego maniac!He's lucky the BBC and West end is run by gays as he'd otherwise be working in Top Man!

this was while he fighting a throat infection and you see that he is holding back. especially if you've heard him sing this song on his CD or the actual video. this is still a great perfromance though. good of him not to push himself and cause any damage.
