This package doesn't take money out of consumer's pockets. It gives money back. There's $288 billion worth of tax relief to the middle class, and tax cuts to the mid-class work as Reagan and Clinton proved. The money for this package comes from already collected tax money.
I doubt that Obama will rid us of the debt overnight, or even while he's President. But if he can balance the budget, and if our next Presidents do so, then we can work towards significantly lowering it.
Obama wants a SECOND porkulus bill for the summer time to give away to more democratic constitutents and to more poor people that live more lavishly than some middle class. There is nothing stimualtive about it.

It does take money out of peoples pockets. The additional $13 per working person that the tax benefits allow are temporary, (1 year). Citizens, including our children are inheriting appx $35,000 add'l taxes from Pork Act (plus their respective 28-37%) over their lifetime. It is SHAMEFUL that we have done this to future generations.
Reagan implemented long term tax relief across the board. Clinton imposed welfare reform to save the tax payers long term.

But the stimulus to the economy will give the government more revenue. This, along with Obama balancing the budget (which I expect he'll do), which will create a surplus in the budget, can all be used to pay off billions in debt resulting from this bill and others.
But selling bonds? That's what we've been doing since the US declared itself Capitalist. That's what every market-economics nation does.

This package doesn't take money out of consumer's pockets. It gives money back. There's $288 billion worth of tax relief to the middle class, and tax cuts to the mid-class work as Reagan and Clinton proved. The money for this package comes from already collected tax money.
I doubt that Obama will rid us of the debt overnight, or even while he's President. But if he can balance the budget, and if our next Presidents do so, then we can work towards significantly lowering it.
