  • Hey I think I seen you on Michigan Out Of Doors going pike spearing and ur heater fell into the water...Ur the one that got me wanting to go pike spearing on ice this year... Thanks for showing me how much fun this sport is

  • is pike nice to eat?

  • You should make a vid of people trying to grab a WALLET and then all of a SUDDEN a SPEAR COMES FLYING FROM NOWHERE LOL

  • @KB3GZW Ya got to do this to thin them out to protect the panfishery and the pike are also hard on bass.

  • lol theres no point of releasing them. u just pass up the small ones

  • this is dumb i think, i like the fight of the fish the most rather then eating it like i dont get the point in stabbing it but if u eat thats kewl but htis is still pretty sick video

  • i dont have any problem with people spearing. i agree that pike is really good eating. i spent a week in canada and had pike, walleye, and bass almost everyday and they all were excellent

  • People shouldn't compare it to fishing, it's more like hunting. I've never heard of catch and releasing a deer or elk. And pike are great eating in my opinion, I've cooked some that my friends compared to cod or halibut.

  • nice to c that they arent killin g the fish they catch with hooks!!! kool video!!!

  • nice vidieo but y dont you kill them before they kill your sucker

  • haha i could care less how u get it just dont waste it!

  • Where do you get these spears from??

  • I make my own becuse the store bought ones dont work for me

we use 1 in loung barbs they have to flex

  • @bowfishn hey im gonna make my own spear to i was wondering how you make the barbs on the end of the tines for the spear?

  • @42chaz42 buy them at the hardware store they are cheap true value carries them.

  • Great job guys - thanks for sharing.

  • Nice! Like the underwater view too.

  • sorry to be an ass, i am a guide from CANADA where we try and protect our fish like crazy, sometimes too much! but..... what exactly do you do with a pike once you spear it with a sharp rake? i certainly hope these fish are eaten. have you thought of safer ways like jigging, maybe losing the tip ups and quick strikes and going for a more conservation based approach?

  • Yea, speared pike are eaten. Actually spearing is about the most conservation based approached to angling. Spearing allows you to look and let go as opposed to hook and line where every fish that bites is brought out of the water and handled. This is especially the case with under sized fish. Catch and release is a good thing, but it also has mortality rates. When spearfishing you take less fish because you are not able to cast, reel or troll vast areas. You are confined to a 2x4 hole.

  • Thank you! You say it all. Spearing as a sport has been around as longe as angling.

  • well put

  • thank god finally somone who can put my thoughts into words!

  • Useing a tip up kills more fish then spearing. At least you can let what you dont want to eat go by than hooking it and have to send it back to die when hooked.

  • were are you doing your guiding up at a lodge or by your self? and i belive they eat all the fish that they spear

  • Sweet looks fun.

  • You guys have some real quality stuff going on here. Have you guys ever gone up to the UP for some spearin?

  • Have not. Would like to though.
