just went and test drove a base v6 with stick...I have had many mustangs, and this stacks up to all of them.....incuding my last Cobra(98).......the power is there, just a little different the way it winds up and delivers, a little buzzy at times under full throttle, but it will lay down some mean second gear bark, (I scared the shit outa the saleguy).....and has the 2010 GT suspension, so handled great too.....I loved it....then I drove a new GT,,,,,it is just unbelievable..this is true love!

@patrickkroell People don't like the V6 because it is a "V6". This car has only 10 less HP thank last year, 5 MORE HP than 2005-2008 V8's and 45 MORE HP than 2003 and previous V8's! This car is fast than 90's cobras. What does it mean for the V8 when a V6 has more HP and faster than some! It means anyone who hates this motor, first is fucking retard and they don't know what they are talking about and second they are just close minded fools! The HP, MPG, car cost is a better value with this V6!

Looks like you have all the options I actually want. Cool to see them all on the car. I had no idea that the v6 was so potent in the 2011 and for the money, you can get a fully loaded v6 for a decent price. They aren't quite as fast as a 2010 GT due to the torque difference but the GT only gets about a car length ahead from a dig but can't pull away. I would not mess with the new 5.0s, though. Heh.
@nmon1 Just because it has more HP doesnt mean it is faster, V6 engines tend to have less torque than a V8. Not to say the V6 isnt a good engine, I prefer them for fuel economy, but the V8 will definately win due to more torque and different powerbands. Both engines stock, the V6 will have a smaller powerband and most likely less power OVERALL than the V8. I will not argue about the mpg and you probably wont notice a difference daily driving. Figured I would just point out the specifics.
@patrickkroell Because Mustangs are generally best when equipped with a V8. It's a muscle car, so a V8 is more fitting. However, this year's V6 is astonishing and should not be underestimated. V6 is a great choice this time around!

The only reason people would have any negative to say about this car is because they are jealous or own a earlier GT and are being humiliated by a stock V6. If you search thru some vids, the grabber blue v6 with the performance pk looks hidiously sick with those black wheels. . Both the Cobra and GT bodies look like poser v6 mustangs of the past. The front tractor lights in the grill Of the GT would be the first thing I would toss. Less is always more.l
It was a very hard decision when I bought my stang. I had to pick between the new v6 or a 2009. I just couldn't give up the Mustang that I dreamed about, which was when the 2005 was released. Either way, Mustang's always look and feel amazing! Maybe someday a 5.0 with that same spoiler, black decklid, and a simple hood scoop to mate with my current Mustang :) .

@alex4play I dont know how it couldnt be a muscle car. 1980's mustangs only had 235hp. If this car is not a muscle car, than less than 75% Mustangs can be considered a muscle car cause this V6 has more hp than 75% of all mustang V8's!
@Reaper87xx Yeah, as of 8 months ago! Its amazing what they are pushing now. But this was the first year that ford has put out a GT pushing over 400hp. The most a mustang got before, outside of special editions, was 315hp. All I'm saying is that for a V6, this is an amazing piece of machinery!

Why? Because with a SCT SF3 tuner from American Muscle (less than $400), even a 2.73 axle Auto 2011 V6 can match the mid 13's quarter-miles of a 2010 GT, while maintaining great fuel economy. That is NOT a POS as some fools want to think.

damn you guys a lucky over there. i wanted to buy one this year but first of all you have to pay 25.000 € taxes (once) when you buy it and then about 4000 € insurance and taxes per year in my country. and thats only the taxes and insurance. now add the cost of the car, the gasoline (which is about 1,5 € per litre) and the reperature when somethings broke because nobody here gives you warranty for that car

My mom got me a Mustang 2011 Pony Package for my bday/christmas/graduation gift.
It was 37k. Here in Puerto Rico, almost got the V8 but it had the chairs were of cloth, it didnt have reverse camera, it had crap ass wheels, didnt have bluetooth or mp3, didnt have xenon lights...
and the pony one she got me had all that, so i decided to get that one even when it had only 306HP.
@Halo00yingyang You made an excellent choice. The best thing, should you decide to mod the engine, or add a lot of power, the transmission is designed to even handle the new V8, so it can take almost anything you throw at it.
You've got the best of both worlds. Personally, I bought the V6 Premium, but I had a choice between one with, and one without the Pony package. I chose the one without. Cost almost the same, due to the racing stripe, but I just can not stand automatic lights.
DEFINITELY getting the v6 2011 around this time next year. The new stang v6 looks promising as f***. Originally I was gonna stay Camaro because I love my 3rd Gen so much, but the new ones are f'n clunky. The 'newer stangs are just so...stripped down and supermodel slim, light on their feet and a 305-307 in a v8?! Good gas mileage too?!...no brainer! F*** the Camaro sourpusses.

@heathnm156 Very true. People should do some research and look at the history of V8 Mustang engines. They might realize, that 2011 V6 stacks up VERY well against the classic V8s. During the classic years (1964-1/2 to 1973), when Mustang built it's reputation as a legendary pony car, many of the V8 engines, ranged somewhere between about 210 hp to 320 hp. Only the 351, 428 and 429, had between 330 to 375 hp. From 72 to 93, the V8s had less than 300 hp. That makes this V6 one of the best ever!
@BetterDayz19 Nothing is wrong with the V6, but you can get up to 26mpg with the V8 as well. Plus, the V8 is considered to be the true engine of this Pony Car, which is what makes it a muscle car. The V6 makes it a sports car
@Beatlesfangoogle They tuned the V6 engine to sound better (vs 2010), and there isnt much difference in the sound compared to a V8 after you add an after market exhaust.

This car is my dream DAILY DRIVER. The new 3.7 has plenty of power and torque, and plus it gets good mileage! If I wanted a Mustang WEEKEND DRIVER I would either restore a classic Mustang with a 289 V8 or buy a GT or better yet GT500.

The only reason people would have any negative to say about this car is because they are jealous or own a earlier GT and are being humiliated by a stock V6. If you search thru some vids, the grabber blue v6 with the performance pk looks hidiously sick with those black wheels. . Both the Cobra and GT bodies look like poser v6 mustangs of the past. The front tractor lights in the grill Of the GT would be the first thing I would toss. Less is always more.l

It was a very hard decision when I bought my stang. I had to pick between the new v6 or a 2009. I just couldn't give up the Mustang that I dreamed about, which was when the 2005 was released. Either way, Mustang's always look and feel amazing! Maybe someday a 5.0 with that same spoiler, black decklid, and a simple hood scoop to mate with my current Mustang :) .

@SanEverett My Mom's 2011 mustang V6 got 6L/100 Km witch is about 38 MPG !!!! if you drive at about 70 to 75 MPH on the highway and accelerate softly its quite economical

awesome ride nmon1!! i'm considering this exact ride (louvers and pedestal spoiler) but with the glass roof in kona blue. the haterade seems to be flowing deep from some posters but jealousy is easy to spot. i read something recently that stated the 305hp V6 Mustang may not be a true muscle car (like the V8) but at least it's now a serious sports car. ride on and thanks for sharing your ride.

@alex4play I dont know how it couldnt be a muscle car. 1980's mustangs only had 235hp. If this car is not a muscle car, than less than 75% Mustangs can be considered a muscle car cause this V6 has more hp than 75% of all mustang V8's!

@Reaper87xx Yeah, as of 8 months ago! Its amazing what they are pushing now. But this was the first year that ford has put out a GT pushing over 400hp. The most a mustang got before, outside of special editions, was 315hp. All I'm saying is that for a V6, this is an amazing piece of machinery!

Just ignore these trolls, nmon1. They're usually either trolls, import fanboys, or just jealous. I specifically didn't buy a 2010 GT a month ago when I was shopping, even though I had a great deal available. I opted to get a 2011 Mustang V6 Premium, instead.
Why? Because with a SCT SF3 tuner from American Muscle (less than $400), even a 2.73 axle Auto 2011 V6 can match the mid 13's quarter-miles of a 2010 GT, while maintaining great fuel economy. That is NOT a POS as some fools want to think.

damn you guys a lucky over there. i wanted to buy one this year but first of all you have to pay 25.000 € taxes (once) when you buy it and then about 4000 € insurance and taxes per year in my country. and thats only the taxes and insurance. now add the cost of the car, the gasoline (which is about 1,5 € per litre) and the reperature when somethings broke because nobody here gives you warranty for that car

Congratz dude, I had a 89 & 91 5.0 , so I was excited about the new 5.0! Until I test drove the V6, it's Awesome, everything I need!
I love the V8 but I'm going to get the V6 premium Mustang Cub of America version and still pay less than a 5.0, not to mention longterm savings in gas, insurence and tag tax.

My mom got me a Mustang 2011 Pony Package for my bday/christmas/graduation gift.
It was 37k. Here in Puerto Rico, almost got the V8 but it had the chairs were of cloth, it didnt have reverse camera, it had crap ass wheels, didnt have bluetooth or mp3, didnt have xenon lights...
and the pony one she got me had all that, so i decided to get that one even when it had only 306HP.
And btw, im 17yrs old.

@Halo00yingyang You made an excellent choice. The best thing, should you decide to mod the engine, or add a lot of power, the transmission is designed to even handle the new V8, so it can take almost anything you throw at it.
You've got the best of both worlds. Personally, I bought the V6 Premium, but I had a choice between one with, and one without the Pony package. I chose the one without. Cost almost the same, due to the racing stripe, but I just can not stand automatic lights.

DEFINITELY getting the v6 2011 around this time next year. The new stang v6 looks promising as f***. Originally I was gonna stay Camaro because I love my 3rd Gen so much, but the new ones are f'n clunky. The 'newer stangs are just so...stripped down and supermodel slim, light on their feet and a 305-307 in a v8?! Good gas mileage too?!...no brainer! F*** the Camaro sourpusses.

Has everyone forgot that the the V8, there motor they are so infatuated with, last year had 315HP. That's 10 off the mark and in 2007 the V8 produced 300HP which is 5 less than my 6. I don't know whose more insane, me for trying to comprehend these idiots or them for not even realizing that 305HP is more than enough power!

@heathnm156 Very true. People should do some research and look at the history of V8 Mustang engines. They might realize, that 2011 V6 stacks up VERY well against the classic V8s. During the classic years (1964-1/2 to 1973), when Mustang built it's reputation as a legendary pony car, many of the V8 engines, ranged somewhere between about 210 hp to 320 hp. Only the 351, 428 and 429, had between 330 to 375 hp. From 72 to 93, the V8s had less than 300 hp. That makes this V6 one of the best ever!

@BetterDayz19 Nothing is wrong with the V6, but you can get up to 26mpg with the V8 as well. Plus, the V8 is considered to be the true engine of this Pony Car, which is what makes it a muscle car. The V6 makes it a sports car

This car is my dream DAILY DRIVER. The new 3.7 has plenty of power and torque, and plus it gets good mileage! If I wanted a Mustang WEEKEND DRIVER I would either restore a classic Mustang with a 289 V8 or buy a GT or better yet GT500.
