    miss you everyday stevie

  • Exelente video!, Este guitarrista es el principe heredero al trono luego de jimmy hendrix

  • This is just what you call out of your mind playing. Totally in the zone or flow state. Stevie played in that state everytime he played. That was his gift. He played beyond mind.

  • he is the best

  • wow

  • i know this may sound weird but possibly, jus possibly slash got the hat idea/thing from the hat hes wearing in this performance

  • STV, Hendrix, john mayer !!!

  • @matt82403 its srv

  • @matt82403 It's Jimi and Stevie and that's it, haha

  • the way tommy and chris follow him on his tempo change is beyond words. Those guys also helped SRV become the musician he was in my opinion. Absolutely the best trio!

  • this must be the greatest guitar player ever

  • i also like how he plays part of castles made of sand at the end...he's the man!

  • timeless!

  • MY BRAINS ARE ALL OVER MY COMPUTER!!!!! x.x

  • すいません。

    この映像はボーナストラックとかでしょうか??

    市販では、Third from〜に飛んでますよね?????普通に手に入る物なんでしょうか?

  • i love how after 4:00 to 4:06 he looks at the bass player like damn i didnt know i could do that

  • @dbrenton23 he was off time a little. it was a mistake.

  • *csi2448* i hear what your sayin. He suprised Himself with what he did and looked at Tommy and just looked like "Dude Holy Shit"! lol

  • Right. After watching that, how can I claim to be a guitarist!?

    Amazing video, thank you.

  • Holy shit joshpunk!! If my brain had a vagina then i think my brain orgasm ed.

  • Where did you find this video? This is a gem.

  • speechless. spine is chilled. extreme euphoria. Its so good i almost cant take it.

  • I cant believe my dad met him and got him to play at George Mason University. this is before stevie was famous.

  • increibleeeeee de los guitarristas con mas onda que vi en mi vida

  • Man, he was so "in the zone" for this whole show. Every song is unreal from this performance!

  • "The truth" <----- emanates from your fingers!!!!!

  • 4:00 to 4:06!

  • even he smiled at that one, lol

  • I'd say this version equals the perfection on The Essential SRV & Double Trouble. Both amazing. Damn shame this wasn't included on the DVD.

  • probally the best version.

  • why in gods name is this not on the dvd?

  • Jimmie thought there was already enough Jimi stuff on the DVD

  • just awesome! sooo good...

  • Just beautiful

  • His face at 4:07-4:08, nuff' said!

  • i never realized he had his tremolo at the top of his bridge.....

  • How come this isnt on the DVD? Awesome dvd, but I wish this was on it.

  • fuck yeeeeh i was pretty cut when i discoverd this @ realisd it wasnt on my el mocambo

  • my God

  • ネック叩いて音出したりするのは、どうやってやってんだろ?一生真似出来ません!!

  • i wish i could know what it is like to have talent like this for just 5 minutes

  • agreed

  • practice and you will suceed my bro

  • Music is not a competition! music is to be enjoyed. You should feel priviliged there are a lot of different styles and genre out there. I love the blues therefore love Stevie, who in my opinion is a brilliant exponent of the blues.

  • Damn this dude was gifted.

  • That cocert kicks major ass. Live @ The El Macambo DVD is a must have. Even if this isn't on it. It still is worth having.

  • Stevie's the best. I think he is GOD!

    .

  • Nobody. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Radomir Mihailovic Tocak are the best guitar players ever lived on this planet!

  • who says Stevie isn't THE BEST!!!!!!

  • @kissfan93 cause he learnt from the best. jimi

  • Brother Jimmie was also responsible for leaving Voodoo Chile off the live at Carnegie Hall cd.Some of Stevie's Austin cohorts were blues purists and didn't care for Stevie jamming the Hendrix.

  • Why isn't this on the Live At El Macambo DVD? This song kicks ass. I love the El Macambo concert but this should have been on it. Ir's not like that concert was going to be 3 hours long or something. Stevie is #1

  • I just noticed I can't spell

  • I have never seen anyone look so comfortable while playinf guitar

  • i know what you mean. it´s like he doesnt look right when he doesnt have a guitar slung around his waist

  • Stevie on FIRE!!!

  • Unreleased?!? This is a great version! Whatever. I'm still buying the El Mocambo DVD.

  • stevie ray vaughn is my hero im gonna get a portrait of him on my side thats how much i love this dude, completely changed my life.

  • darkg35 im deffo in agreement with you there!

  • sounded like the beginning of castles made of sand at the end

  • WOAH! What's he doin at 2:24??

  • Comment removed

  • awesome isn't it

  • You'll have to ask his brother Jimmie Lee why it isn't on the DVD as he was the one directing traffic on that dvd as in picking which songs were used and which ones weren't used I think it would have been perfect to put this song at the end or even in the section of the menu where the Double Trouble interview is posted

  • Why the hell did they edit this from the DVD!?!?...Maybe he farted or something and it ruined the take!?!

  • This is killer...too bad it's not on the dvd release that i have....

  • I heard part of the riffs on a pearl jam song

I love this songs, steve ray one of the best guitar players of all time

  • yeah yellow led better is basically a rip off of little wing.

  • No it isn't, it is in the style of Jimi Hendrix.

  • well i figure mcready was basically sitting around messin trying to get little wing, and he's an admitted huge srv fan. so this piece of music no matter who plays it if their any good will definitely be playing in the style of Jimi

  • no its in this own version....he is just playing it faster....and its amazing!!

  • Lived his life in a shadow and didn't even get to go skiing in the end. Sad

  • "As the sweat pours out your body, like the music that you play"

    GO STEVIE!

  • people need to stfu. srv and hendrix were both gods in their own way

  • did i hear a bit of castles made of sand at the end there? awesome.

  • This performance is kinda close to his recorded version..

  • Do you not see the use of punctuation?

  • i dont think its that stevie needs a big solo to get to where he is going, its just that he is so in tune with his guitar (no pun intended) that he gets lost and carried away in the moment. songs like this one and tin pin alley and lenny beg to not stop. speaking from experience, when you find a good jam you dont want to stop. this song could be 30 mins long and it would have my attention from min 1 to min 30.

  • It's not the complete Third Stone if you really know the song. But we can argue neither is little wing. And who said anything about logic? But we do know that permission has to come from some body to do some body else songs.

  • i think the reason why this was not on the DVD is because it was done at the time the Hendrix Family was in a law suit court battle with Allen Douglas and other producers that stole Jimmie's fortunes and music rights. This lasted 20 years. Hendrix's family were just getting the rights to his music when "mocambo' was being made. So they left it off . It is more then likely that for this song to be on the album" The Sky is Crying" permission to do so was granted by the Hendrix family.

  • why was this not on the DVD!?!?!?! One of my favorite SRV songs (yes I know it's originally a Hendrix song)

  • i hate how they didnt release this, i have the el mocambo dvd and when i found out this was supposed to be on it i was really pissed it wasnt

  • around the 2:00 mark... do i notice a pinch harmonic? go stevie!

I don't mean this to dis Hendrix in any way, but you'd swear that this was an SRV song. He plays this with the emotion as if he wrote it. I prefer this and voodoo child over the Hendrix.. again, that isn't a dis to the creator just a personal preference.

  • They really should have put this on the DVD! Great version!

  • Amazing :')

    RIP SRV

  • there are few people I envy more than the folks that were in the audience at the El Mocambo that night...

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn is up in heaven showing the angels how angel music should be! No harp lol! Straight blues guitar gets to the soul of everyone! He is my hero and still is to this day! Untouchable! Him and Jimmy sharing chords up there.

  • hahaha electric blues harp! hahaha

  • How the hell I don't have it on my El Mocambo DVD? OMG!

  • no one does. it sucks

  • Well. how is it in youtube right here?

  • I meant you cant get it on the original DVD. I think this is a tv broadcast. Its just hard to get ahold of thats all

  • Right, thanks.

  • favorited

  • SRV is a god!!!! Can't believe how he bends those 13 gauge strings like butter....He also hits all the strings and makes individual sounds he is amazing!!!

  • ya he is really amazing!!

  • this is just... wicked!! can't stop listening to this

  • Best. Sound. Ever.

    RIP Stevie

  • HACKed not owned

  • I can think of a lot of great guitar players. I can't think of anyone whoever OWNED it like he did.

  • exactly. i mean, his stage prsence and his authority with the 13 guage strings is ridiculous.

  • look how is he feeling it... omg

  • I think my face just melted.

  • Where has this come from?? This is not on the dvd! Nice one!

  • you have to love this song if you like STEVIE made that its not on the DVD why!!!!!!

  • i buy that d.v.d.. and the song its not in the track list.. thsi is rare..

  • SRV is just so badass.

I wish I was around to see him perform live...

  • THEY ALSO CUT RUDE MOOD OFF THE DVD!!!!! What the f*ck is wrong with these people?

  • the .13 gauge strings, the high action, the bass frets....he truly had monster tone! srv's sound is unmatched. he also had speed, unbelievable rythm, and a very soft and subtle touch. i've never seen anyone man handle a guitar the way he did. i mean he realy owned it. he was playing the guitar, not the guitar playing him. aside from all of that, what stage presence. stevie you are missed and forever immortalized in this world.

  • Brilliant.

  • 2:26 is SRV. RIP...You are mad great. I mean, who compares to him today? Anyone? No one.

  • john frusciante!

  • oh trust me man, Stevie loved every opportunity that came in his life, he never took anything for grannet, Remember, it took him a while to get to the top too, he was just like you and me.

  • Grannet? Granted you mean?

  • I love everything SRV and double trouble put out, i feel bad for double trouble though, no matter what they ever do or did, SRV could not be outshined by any band

  • Greatest........ ever....

  • words cannot explain!

  • 2:22 just WOW!

  • yeah.... i spunked in my britches when he did that

  • this cover is a master piece.

  • maldito steve ray no puede ser tan bueno

  • simply amazing! everytime i watch him play. fly on fly on stevie! R.I.P.

  • This is my fav guitarist of all time. He did this song wat hendrix did to hey joe. By the way how in hell did he play that guitar. He had a high action and 13 guage strings. He used to glue his finger tip shut because they used to split open. Thats dedication to your sound

  • I have the whole DVD of this concert and I can tell you that he wasn't clean (look at his eyes and the way he talks). But whether he was completely clean or not is DEFINETLY OUT OF THE QUESTION, HE was, is and will be one of the best guitar players in the world!!!! Love SRV!!!!!

  • how can you guys tell huh?,really are you doctors or something?,cuz all i see is a man puting everything into his music, sweat, soul, and everything thats all i see here

  • Are you stupid??? Its pretty obvious he wasn't sober. How can I tell?...let see here, look at how pale his skin is, look at how much he's sweating, listen to the way he talks, and go do some research on his drug addictions. However the best part is how after he sobered up, he still played just as well. Many players can't seem to "get into the music" once there clean...Stevie could, cause he was pretty damn amazing.

  • Stevie himself admitted that he was drinking and using cocaine pretty much 24/7 in 1983. I'd say he looks pretty wired in this clip. The amazing and wonderful thing is, when he sobered up he played just as hard, just as fast, and maybe even tighter. "In Step," released after he died, is one of his very best albums. God I mis that guy.

  • Anyone who doubts SRV was wasted at this show should read one of the biographies on him where his managers were talking about how he'd be so wasted before shows they wouldn't think he could go on but then by the time of the show he would go out and kill it.

I'm a huge SRV fan and it's sad to say, but he was better early in his career than later when he was clean. "In the Beginning" is better than anything he did at the end, except for the Buddy Guy cover on his second ACL's appearance.

  • Oh, and his "Life Without You" live performances were hot.

  • He was better sober than when he was on drugs. Both periods of his musical career were stuning and amazing, but when he was sober, he was better.

  • It's all subjective. I agree his clarity and precision was better after he was sober, but I enjoy the songs he made earlier in his career more. And his El Mocambo performance was in my opinion his finest hour as a musician. The guy is a legend at all points in his career though. RIP.

  • I agree with you.

  • it's funny that his band see nothing special about the El Mocambo, because it really was just another performance on par with his rest, however amazing it might be to us

  • no he wassint sober

  • Was he clean and sober at this time?

  • Wish they didn't cut this out of the DVD release.

  • I know. What possesed them to do that. The Should have cut out third stone from the sun. Or better they shouldn't have cut out any

  • One of my favorite guitarists ever.

  • I was at this concert!!!! BLOWN AWAY...nope doesn't even come close! He was not a GOD. he was REAL, COOL, GOOD!!! SRV was a clean soul, in a world of vices. He was FERCE, he was GENTLE! HE WAS EVERYTHING TO ME!!!! God does not make mistakes=SRV! See you in Heaven, Baby!!!!!

  • YOU WERE THERE?! I've been hoping someone who was there would post on one of these videos. Did he play anything else that they cut off the DVD? Oh yeah and you are so lucky!

  • man i love srv he had his best tones around this time period, so full and driving.

  • one would think that his guitar should be on fire after all that the S R V version of little wing is in no need of word's this is and will always be the best rock Instrumental of all time hand's down

  • Wow! I used to watch El Mocambo everynight. I cant believe I have never seen this. God bless You Tube.

  • Easily the most "listenable" of all the guitar virtuosos. I just get tired of vai and satriani although I recognize them as two of the best ever. Stevie just had a better sense of taste when crafting his music. Less distortion and less about showing off than just making great sounding music. I know some of you may verbally stone me for saying so, but his version of little wing is better than even Hendrix's. Blaspheme! I know.

  • I'm not sure he's a "virtuoso", more a blues guy if ya ask me. They are all good players though, don't get me wrong.

  • Not to start a flame war, but I don't believe that "virtuoso" and "blues guy" are not connected. I do understand and agree a little with your point.

  • well, (at least in my fucked up mind) I tend to associate "virtuoso" with Satriani, Vai, Gilbert, etc. etc. and then SRV, Hendrix, Clapton, etc. would fall under "blues guy category. and yeah, I dont wanna start an e-fight or nothin.

  • don't worry I can totally understand your line of thought now that you explained it a little more

  • virtuoso is just someone whos very good at a particular thing. lets just stick with saying SRV was a blues virtuoso

  • works for me!!

  • good

  • SRV was a virtuoso, and not only a guitar virtuoso, but generally a music virtuoso and a wizard.

  • yes he weaved musical magic haha

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan isn't a virtuoso? What a douche comment. He's only one of the best guitarists ever. Both SRV and Hendrix were both getting heavily into Jazz before they died -- and both were quickly mastering yet another style. How many other guitarists can play Rock, Blues, and Jazz at the highest levels. Hmmm... Let me think... Still thinking...

If that's not a "virtuoso" I'd like to know your definition of one.

  • ok then. my definition of a virtuoso is guys like steve vai, joe satriani, etc. its a pretty douche comment to say things like that as well. I'm not denying that SRV wasnt a great player, he was. it's just that he was a different style player than "virtuosos". but MY definition of "virtuoso" can very well be different than yours. so stop being so whiny and argumentative and get of of mah interwebz.

  • WTF? SRV was a virtuoso. He maybe wasn't a guy who knew musical theory to the bone, plenty of fast scales and had some knowledge like Vai, Satriani and such guys, but he was a guitar god, a guitar virtuoso and a master. He is the kinf of blues/rock.

  • uuugggghhh....look, what I said was that its subjective, meaning there's no point in getting into an e-fight over this. so stop being a whiny youtuber and get a life.

  • couldn't agree more with you

  • Yeah it's pretty crazy that this wasn't put on the DVD. That and the ACL DVD is missing A LOTTTTT of tracks. Hopefully in 2010 they re-release those DVD's since it will be the 20 year anniversary of Stevie's death

  • it wasn't on mine either

  • can anyone tell me why the hell this isn't on the dvd?!!!

  • it is on dvd man. Live 1983 at Elmocambo.

  • Cool. So this version of Little Wing is on the DVD you would buy from a store? I used to have the VHS. This concert was one of the things I studied to learn how to play This is great filming and SRV was in some kind of groove this night. Are thier any other tracks in the vault from this night we havent heard? I wonder.
