The simple way that Joanna won was that her technique was alright, and she put some serious flare and spice into that Mambo. In terms of technique, Mya was better, but we ALL know dancing isnt' all about technique. She and Dmitry were hardly noticable as beautifully as they danced. Joanna and Derek took control of the stage and entertained while still dancing fairly well. By the way, that "bj" move wasn't meant to look like that, it's your dirty minds twisting it around :)

I really thought that they were *awful* from beginning to end, and at no point did they look like they were dancing the winning dance, but the judging on DWTS inconsistent, and erratic. They favour some dancers and penalise those they don't care for. How on earth did Mya get a "5" for one of her dances when the give people like Palin and 8? Ridiculous.
If I ever danced a mambo, I'd sure as hell hope that my partner wasn't flinging me around all over the show in the first place...

What I don't get is everyone had a problem with Derek and Joanna's 'move', but they also thought it was funny or cute or whatever when Donny was dancing over Derek at 7:14. I didn't like that because it interrupted Derek and Joanna who were actually still in the competition. I also think that's one of the reasons Joanna won over Mya, because while I think they both deserved to win, Joanna had to make up on the spot what to do while Derek couldn't dance with her.

As upset as I was when she didn't win, I was still happy for her because the two of them were tied and when it was between Donny and Mya, the winner was obvious. Plus she shouldn't have done her Jive for the favorite dance, but hey, who am I to tell her what her favorite dance is?
@avatarfan07 Mya should have gone with her gut instincts and done whatever she wanted to in her final dance instead of listening to Dmitry telling her to be safe. M & D consistently disagreed over their choreography (said many times on DWTS) and usually compromised. If Mya had gone with her gut on this one, she might have actually won. I had to agree with the judges on her dance. I was totally surprised and expected more creativity from her. As you said, who are we to judge, right?

i think that it is safe to say that this competition is not just about who has the best technique because if it was then there would have been so many different winners to the seasons. It is about who goes out there and performs and has decent enough technique to be able to impress the judges and i think that joanna has that. Yes mya has great moves but i just dont find her exciting.

I thought this was a DANCE competion since when is technique not most important? It's not like Mya nad Dmitry were not moving they were. Ahhh!!!!!! I freaking hate how annoying Aaron is!!!! I mean i'll admit he's a great dancer, but he just puts me off sometimes, like on the results show when e said Len is like he's father figure...OMG I so wanted to slap him for saying that! anyways i think Mya and Dmitry should have one this just because their technique was superb, but Joanna and Derek were definitely better when it came to performing and entertaining. Everyone else was a bit wishy washy for me.
Looking at this dance, Mya coulda won. Not that I'm mad Joanna and Derek did, they were good. Mya defintitely was better in technicality. Joanna is catching up to Mya as well as other dancers, so she has to really get in high gear, and do even better, which is difficult because Mya has done pretty darn well so far haha. We'll see how things turn out next week, hopefully we'll see some really excellent dances, and 30's for Mya and Joanna, my two favorites :)
I think that the judges are not being fair to Mya I should say Len and CarrieAnne. They keep saying we expect more from her and she is turning out great performances. She is not a professional ball room dancer for Gods sakes. And I think that they have been more than genreous in scoring Joanna. This is a dance competion and technically Joanna is weak she and Derek were sloppy. Derek was swinging her around like a rag doll. Joanna was twiriling her dress like this was some strip dance. UHGG
No, she didn't win, maybe she deserved it,but didn't, because Joanna overall had better performance, even though Mya danced better technically, I never ignored Mya's technique, but that's not everything, she was lacking the energy many other's had, but she was the best dancer, so it wouldn't be unheard of for her to win.
look at the comments on this thread! that should tell you who won this competition!!!!! it was MYA by a mile. Joanna was given this. Look at her feet. No ballroom judge anywhere is going to ignore technique. MYA and Dmitry bring excitement everytime they dance.
Listen now, cuz I won't say it again, I did not ignore her technique! She had the BEST technique! Joanna worked hard and deserves a break as well, she had a better performance than Mya, and stood out more. Mya didn't blast out till the end, when it was too late. I've looked at her feet, no duh, wasnt as precise as Mya's but it wasn't THAT bad, god. Mya would've won without a doubt if technicality was the only thing that mattered, but guess what? It isn't.
Technique goes to Mya. As far as performance goes, i guess it's subjective. The reason why i didn't like derek and joanna that much is not because they were energetic, which is good, but because there was little dancing in between the tricks and it looked a bit desperate. Derek instead of dancing WITH Joanna, used her as a prop which is evident in his celebratory stance at the end while holding joanna down. Mya actually danced WITH Dimitry and they looked natural which is much more sexy to me.
Even though Mya is one of my faves, I don't think she was the best here. And neither was Joanna. Did you SEE Aaron?? He was totally killing it!! And he's not typically one of my favorites at all. Also think Mark should've lasted longer.
Aaron was good. I thought he and MYA were close for the first place. Joanna's footwork was terrible. It was fixed. I could have lived with Aaron winning b/c he was good.

yes he is playing favorites and i promise you. derek will win this season...not because of joanna just because mark and julianne have two titles. so of course the third of the group has to get it as well. so len has prob been paid by producers to let derek win and clearly be bias to mya. cause corky raised julianne and derek with mark and corky is a big wig behind this show. im since season 4 one of those three have won and its not fair to edyta, maks, dmitry, kym, lacey to keep getting shafted

I can't believe they are letting the judges pick who goes home now. The main thing I loved about the show is that it was up to the fans who goes home. Yes, Natalie was an excellent dancer and one of my faves of the season but she didn't receive enough votes to stay and that's just the way it is. Now, it's just a popularity contest amongst the judges and it has stripped away so much of what the show used to be. This, the double eliminations, AND the judges voting on the danceoffs are a total fail
Sorry, but Mya should've won that Mambo. Also, no offense to Osmond fans, but there is no way Mark D. could've been tapped out before he did...lol. I know I may get loads of negative replies, but it's just my opinion.

Whenever the judges on either of those shows send someone home, they say "America put you there, so we have to send someone home" They blame it on us so they look like their being forced to vote a good dancer or couple off! And yeah, DWTS is totally adding new elements in this season (thought not all good.) There have been so many new little dance comptitions like this one, AND A DOUBLE ELIMINATION? WTF? We already lost 2 couples in 1 week b4, we dont need another.

I completely agree with everyone. I mean I love derek and Joanna, but Mya is clearly a BETTER dancer.. you kno check out the scores from previous dances.
Derek said they freestyled this one which explains why it was mostly arm twists, shimming (sic?), and other basic movements, while you can tell that Dmitry choreographed this one. I think the judges like crude and raunchy and that is why they liked derek and joanna.
I could say a lot but I will say that Mya should have one because you could tell at the end that Joanna was tired and Mya had a steady pace and it was clean and precise but I mean hey they both did really good...
I don't know wth hell I saw in lacey that I liked last season, she is such a byotch and has it in for mya, you guys watch her reaction, she was the most happy when mya and dmitry were knocked out and her confessionals last wk was solely focused on mya!
I saw her cheering on Mya when Mya did that special move at the end. When Derek won (not joanna), you could see that lacey cheered but then you could see she stopped applauding. The biggest reaction was from sourpuss Mark Ballas, but I think he was thrilled that his best friend won. Look at Louie's reaction after Mya's tapped out, he looked the most stunned that he stops clapping midway. Chelsie, Kym, and Donny looked disappointed that Joanna won.
Yeah she probably stopped when she saw that not everyone was as enthused as herself...lol, she was my fav female pro dancer last season but I just can't get with her this season there is something really awkward going on between her and mark, watch the first few seconds of her jitterbug with mark, before he said dancing with her made him horny during the intro, just look at mean mug she gave whilst his hands were around her waist or maybe i'm just imagining things!
LOVE the way they did this!! Wish they could have really done floor craft but I understand that is super hard to learn! :) Oh and I don't agree with Louis and Chellsie being tapped out second!!!!

I am in full agreement with the consensus. Joanna has good moments, but this isn't one of them. Mya danced better just for the sake of technique, rhythmn, and soul. Aaron also did a lot better than Joanna. No disrespect, but call things like they are. I kept saying after Melissa and Mark went, "Joanna next", but it never came. What kind of madness? There might be a backlash and people stop voting for her, and she'll go home next.

The last group standing should have been Mya and Dmitry, that was a real Mambo. To award points because you felt one person wanted it more is a joke, its about the dance and technique. I love Kelly's and Louis idea to just dance instead of learning a dance routine.

i think that it is safe to say that this competition is not just about who has the best technique because if it was then there would have been so many different winners to the seasons. It is about who goes out there and performs and has decent enough technique to be able to impress the judges and i think that joanna has that. Yes mya has great moves but i just dont find her exciting.

I thought this was a DANCE competion since when is technique not most important? It's not like Mya nad Dmitry were not moving they were. They just wern't wild and all over the place saying look at me look me. If you Notice Louie and Kelly and Lacy and Mark t wern't wild and all over the place either. They were sexy and controlled with their movements like Mya and Dmitry. Joanna's technique stinks to me. Derek was over dancing to compensate for her. I think that the order should have been

Ahhh!!!!!! I freaking hate how annoying Aaron is!!!! I mean i'll admit he's a great dancer, but he just puts me off sometimes, like on the results show when e said Len is like he's father figure...OMG I so wanted to slap him for saying that! anyways i think Mya and Dmitry should have one this just because their technique was superb, but Joanna and Derek were definitely better when it came to performing and entertaining. Everyone else was a bit wishy washy for me.

Looking at this dance, Mya coulda won. Not that I'm mad Joanna and Derek did, they were good. Mya defintitely was better in technicality. Joanna is catching up to Mya as well as other dancers, so she has to really get in high gear, and do even better, which is difficult because Mya has done pretty darn well so far haha. We'll see how things turn out next week, hopefully we'll see some really excellent dances, and 30's for Mya and Joanna, my two favorites :)

I think that the judges are not being fair to Mya I should say Len and CarrieAnne. They keep saying we expect more from her and she is turning out great performances. She is not a professional ball room dancer for Gods sakes. And I think that they have been more than genreous in scoring Joanna. This is a dance competion and technically Joanna is weak she and Derek were sloppy. Derek was swinging her around like a rag doll. Joanna was twiriling her dress like this was some strip dance. UHGG

No, she didn't win, maybe she deserved it,but didn't, because Joanna overall had better performance, even though Mya danced better technically, I never ignored Mya's technique, but that's not everything, she was lacking the energy many other's had, but she was the best dancer, so it wouldn't be unheard of for her to win.

look at the comments on this thread! that should tell you who won this competition!!!!! it was MYA by a mile. Joanna was given this. Look at her feet. No ballroom judge anywhere is going to ignore technique. MYA and Dmitry bring excitement everytime they dance.

Listen now, cuz I won't say it again, I did not ignore her technique! She had the BEST technique! Joanna worked hard and deserves a break as well, she had a better performance than Mya, and stood out more. Mya didn't blast out till the end, when it was too late. I've looked at her feet, no duh, wasnt as precise as Mya's but it wasn't THAT bad, god. Mya would've won without a doubt if technicality was the only thing that mattered, but guess what? It isn't.

Technique goes to Mya. As far as performance goes, i guess it's subjective. The reason why i didn't like derek and joanna that much is not because they were energetic, which is good, but because there was little dancing in between the tricks and it looked a bit desperate. Derek instead of dancing WITH Joanna, used her as a prop which is evident in his celebratory stance at the end while holding joanna down. Mya actually danced WITH Dimitry and they looked natural which is much more sexy to me.

Even though Mya is one of my faves, I don't think she was the best here. And neither was Joanna. Did you SEE Aaron?? He was totally killing it!! And he's not typically one of my favorites at all. Also think Mark should've lasted longer.

im so sick of this show becoming the hough/ballas show. yeah i get they are all cute i get they are all good but so is jonathan, kym, edyta, lacey, anna d, anna t, etc. why do they keep getting bad partners and derek, mark, and julianne get the good ones...cause since season 4 one of those 3 win. and i swear if derek wins this just so he can have two titles like mark and julianne, im done forever with this show. yes he is playing favorites and i promise you. derek will win this season...not because of joanna just because mark and julianne have two titles. so of course the third of the group has to get it as well. so len has prob been paid by producers to let derek win and clearly be bias to mya. cause corky raised julianne and derek with mark and corky is a big wig behind this show. im since season 4 one of those three have won and its not fair to edyta, maks, dmitry, kym, lacey to keep getting shafted

I can't believe they are letting the judges pick who goes home now. The main thing I loved about the show is that it was up to the fans who goes home. Yes, Natalie was an excellent dancer and one of my faves of the season but she didn't receive enough votes to stay and that's just the way it is. Now, it's just a popularity contest amongst the judges and it has stripped away so much of what the show used to be. This, the double eliminations, AND the judges voting on the danceoffs are a total fail

What in the HELL is wrong with the judges??? Mya and Dmitry were the best by far. I love Derek he is my favorite pro, however, he and Joanna were all over the place. I totally agree with you! Whenever the judges on either of those shows send someone home, they say "America put you there, so we have to send someone home" They blame it on us so they look like their being forced to vote a good dancer or couple off! And yeah, DWTS is totally adding new elements in this season (thought not all good.) There have been so many new little dance comptitions like this one, AND A DOUBLE ELIMINATION? WTF? We already lost 2 couples in 1 week b4, we dont need another.

Derek said they freestyled this one which explains why it was mostly arm twists, shimming (sic?), and other basic movements, while you can tell that Dmitry choreographed this one. I think the judges like crude and raunchy and that is why they liked derek and joanna.

I saw her cheering on Mya when Mya did that special move at the end. When Derek won (not joanna), you could see that lacey cheered but then you could see she stopped applauding. The biggest reaction was from sourpuss Mark Ballas, but I think he was thrilled that his best friend won. Look at Louie's reaction after Mya's tapped out, he looked the most stunned that he stops clapping midway. Chelsie, Kym, and Donny looked disappointed that Joanna won.

Yeah she probably stopped when she saw that not everyone was as enthused as herself...lol, she was my fav female pro dancer last season but I just can't get with her this season there is something really awkward going on between her and mark, watch the first few seconds of her jitterbug with mark, before he said dancing with her made him horny during the intro, just look at mean mug she gave whilst his hands were around her waist or maybe i'm just imagining things!

I am in full agreement with the consensus. Joanna has good moments, but this isn't one of them. Mya danced better just for the sake of technique, rhythmn, and soul. Aaron also did a lot better than Joanna. No disrespect, but call things like they are. I kept saying after Melissa and Mark went, "Joanna next", but it never came. What kind of madness? There might be a backlash and people stop voting for her, and she'll go home next.
