  • 6:30 He's phishing

  • every time some retard starts up a thread with Bohemian Rhapsody lyrics I start posting the words for this song.

  • youth and drugs, oh my, they dont play em like this anymore!

  • @larseo23 THEY STILL ROCKIN, BRO. FEEL FREE NOT TO COME. MORE TIX 4 ME.

  • WE NEED TO RUNAWAY RUNAWAY RUNAWAY AT SUPERBALL IX!!!

  • you can tell trey is tripping face when they get back into it at 2:38......he looks so scared haha

  • fishman is putting on a clinic for jam drums

  • What gets me is that this is not long before the 10-31-96 monster. The Clifford Ball and the 96 Halloween show are 2 of my favs but nothing and i mean nothing beats 12-31-95. Treys tone is on point during 96. Nobody can manipulate feedback and tone any better then Trey.

  • this song is so rad!

  • gotta luv the clap!

  • i love these boyzzzz..........

  • This tune sounds very grateful dead- like.

  • @AndyAutomaticss 12-31-95

  • speaking from a guitarist's standpoint. I agree Trey's playing and jamming ability seems strained lately. To me you can look at him on this video and see he is spun to the gills. When you are under the influence of a chosen substance, it really does seems easier to improv, its almost as you see the notes before you play them. After a while though you get reliant on that tool to get you to that mindset. And without the drug the playing will suffer. Once he conquers this, he will be unstoppable!

  • @randyc420 very well put. i agree with you 100%. i am a guitarist myself and definitely know what you mean.

  • @randyc420 I totally agree, but he is by far one of the greatest guitarists of all time, at least the most underrrated, his jamming and soloing abilities are unmatched i believe.

  • @LSUsuperBuick absolutely. Of all the greatest guitarists, Trey is in the top 3 for me without any hesitation.

  • @LSUsuperBuick I agree again, it's just his amazing improvising abililty that, to me, sets him apart from most if not all other guitarists.

  • @randyc420 there is def no doubt that they loved thier psychidelics primarily before the mdma blew up big, but still, i gotta say, that trey def had a repuation for not using every night. I bet that out of all the sickest jams theyve ever done its 50 50 on him being spun for real or just a few brewskies deep... just a guess from a person who really doesnt have too many friends on the (inside), i could be completely off...

  • this is phish in their prime which, in my estimation, was 92-98. hate to say it but trey's lost a step on guitar. not sure what's up with page. fish and mike are solid as ever.it's cool seeing all this old video of phish. didn't even know it existed.

  • I had compleely forgotten about this song! Awesome!

  • that riff trey's playing around 7:40 fits so nicely

  • NY Festival in 2010! please?

  • @pcburgh01 if they were gunna do it they would have set it i mean there not gunna do it in the fall hopeing they do msg in the fall i heard they are going to

  • @jbdfc what? If they were going to do it they would have set it? You mean that if there was a festival, they would have set it up? Ummm.......not to burst your balloon but....................indicative of carrying out a plan is to do it; kind of goes without saying lolololol yah, I get it..........

  • The Ball was the best time I had in my life!! Well, now I'm married with a beautiful daughter, so theose are 100% better, but Clifford Ball will always be there.

  • everything from the clifford ball is top notch cant stop playing the dvd

  • By far best show I saw them do. This was their "coming out party", as it was the first summer without the Dead, and the crowd size showed the shift.

  • @Yoseman1 trey got the torched passted to him in 95 after jerrys passing

  • ahh the good ole' days! I loved this show...the bowie is one of the most epic bowies ever!!!

  • I have this on cassette. And to think I used to trade tapes via mail. mailing tapes and shows to other show traders, while now in 2009 just download anything you want. WOW. god i wish i was born about 10 years later to keep up with this.

  • where do u download your concerts?

  • ya i can download some pretty cool shit being 21... but u probably witnessed some pretty cool shit in terms of Phish... wanna trade shoes? I was a big Phan of the 09 tour but the tours in the 90's would have been pretty dam cool

  • They were! Waterloo Village 94, MSG 95, Clifford Ball, New Years run in Philly 97, etc., etc., etc. Just went to the MSG show Thursday night, and trust me, its a much older, more tame band. I miss the 90's Phish! :(

  • @Yoseman1 It may be a "much older, more tame band" as you said, however, Phish didn't try to stay the same as they were when they started like some. Phish is still as amazing as ever. The Stones for example are trying to act like they are still in their 20's, Phish is aging gracefully and evolving not trying to holding on to the past. That is why Phish will always be the best; except 2.0, there were still good jams going on but I like Phish getting off most on their music not drugs+music

  • @MarcoGreenberg

Ho Hum...to say Phish 2010 is anything near what they were to this point is insane. They are still the best live act out there, but nothing compared to what they were.

  • @Yoseman1 I feel like Phish is like wine. They get better with age. The best concert of theirs that I have seen was this year

  • @tomwom51 They have been terrific this year (2010)....but nothing like the 90's.

  • @SandmanSu lets go phish 3.0 im 19 brother right there with you

  • perfection... god bless cactus

  • the was the first phish song i ever heard live.

  • me too. its been one of my favorites ever since

  • i have a dog and his name is jim humm

  • It's "had" a dog, okay??? :)

  • no i actually have a dog name jim ok ???

  • OK!

  • hahaha

  • I was 24 Yrs old at this show. I'm now 36. What an incredible experience I'll never forget. Cant wait to pick up the DVD

  • I love this song. Nothing else in life brings me more joy than seeing live music, and Phish shows have been at the top of my list for most memorable experiences. They truly have given meaning in my life.

  • ahhhhhhhhh memories, this still takes me away to when i was 19 with no cares except getting as close to the stage as possible

  • me too me too!!! what great memories...

  • still sliding from the ice from the swamp

  • He was 12 years old when his trip began!

  • though the 2 guitars that came after old reliable have a more bright sound, i've always preferred the thick tones that old reliable put out

  • word! I thought O.R. had great sound too, but isn't this vid featuring the 2nd Languedoc? pretty sure he started using the 3rd (red) one like less than a year after this vid.

the red one is my fave, because of the honking beef that spews out when compressed!!!! At pheway he busted out a blue languedoc for time turns elastic

  • Thanks SC, this was my first show.

  • thank you silverchair97 for letting us relive so many great memories!

  • beauty

  • trey is so ON

  • wow. trey is channeling some alien language. this is so sick. At 6: 13 you see it onward. he was in afriggin alien trance.

  • yup treys in that trance

  • they were so great

  • aNd ThIs Is WhY

  • Correction: they ARE so great :)

  • they are so great

  • im a walrus... just puttin that out there

  • so random, yet so funny.

  • walruses cant type thats insanity
