Holy....I don't even know which word to use. This is one of my favorite Sylvian songs ever. Takes me back to a very specific situation in my life. Thank you moodyb for this...I know I am very late tuning in on this one...
just stunning taste and musicianship, as good as it gets. Everything he has done is worth keeping forever. Plight and premonition , Darshan, Blemish all fantastic in their own right, but for me Secrets of the Beehive was like Kind of Blue, perfection of an artform. It used to be so hard to find anything on Sylvian before youtube, Thanks to all who have posted clips.
He's such a great an eclectic artist. Few artists picks such worldwide modes and tastes like Sylvian, a true world artist, an aural bridge-constructor..
Both David and Steve san are performing beautifully... remember Stanhope Gardens in the 80's?? Love David and Steve both, and their music will always live on..
i can hear in his voice the lost of hope.he was going through difficult times in his private life then and his pain is so present in this song.love david
Steve Jansen, in my opinion, is one of the most musical drummer-percussionists out there. In my perfect world, this would be mainstream. But, alas mainstream is only a stream, because it is so shallow. Thank you for posting all the great material.
as far as im concerned david sylvian has to be one of the most talented music artists ever, what a voice and the lyrics,wow..also credit to his brother steve, extremely talented percussionist..i have followed david sylvians career since 1980 and he is my absolute fav artist and always will be..
that was on the blemish-tour in 2003/04. I'v had the privilege to attend his cologne concert in germany on 02 oct. 2003 which I'll never forget....great man!
superb! not only 'when poets dreamed' but also 'cries and whisphers (rain tree crow). who is the percussionist playing along? steve jansen? are there any more video's from that concert?
Sylvian, Lanois & Eno & Sakamoto ... imagine the sounds......

It is sorely missing a guitar part. Good thing I know the original so it would still be enjoyable.

Rather tame clapping at the end...were the audience listening to something else?
